Oh goodness.
You buy a FPS to do the same thing in different maps with different objectives.
You buy a fighting game to do the same thing vs. different people.
In Assassin's Creed, you assassinate people to progress through the story. Sometimes you sneak in on foot. Sometimes you fly. Sometimes you have to escape through a bunch of guards. Sometimes you have a clear path on the roofs. Either way, you're doing the same thing in order to achieve a final goal.
My point, which was apparently missed, was that the initial argument that the missions are the same thing over and over is a poor assessment of the game, because everything can boil down to that short of a game based on puzzles.

Assassin's Creed is one of my favorite video game series.

I enjoy the visuals, the gameplay, and the story.
It can get a bit repetitive at times, but I feel the combination of the aforementioned factors keeps me going through any repetitive part.

That being said, I might rent this game. I don't have much interest in it, because I see it as a way to milk the series rather than giving me Assassin's Creed 3.

You won't understand AC3 without playing this.

I didn't find AC2 to be repetitive at all.

Can't say the same thing about AC1.

ver played AC2, maybe it'll change my mind about the series.
yeah, but AC1 was just...unveil part of the map, climb some buildings, find the checkpoint where you find out whom to kill, maybe run from some guards, then kill the target. rinse and repeat.
Ashes I see your point about every game being repetitive, but FPS's like COD are different because in a sense you're playing to get better each time. While, to me at least, AC1 was too repetitive that the story/visuals didn't make up for the linearity of the game

AC2 is a better game.
I actually only got like 15% done and never finished though. Damn my roommate for taking his PS3.
