I have a MacBook unibody 1st gen, got it the week it came out... had to take it back and get a new one too... damn dead pixel. Was my first Mac and I love it!

I also had the original iPhone and then bought the 3GS a few weeks ago too... got one the week it came out too... and I got a dead pixel on that damn thing too! Had to take it back but had to wait 2 weeks nearly for new stock! Love it now though  |

Hey Ashes what do you do at Apple? My gf wants to get a Mac. She's a professional musician, working on getting signed and is doing demo's at studios, but wants to play around with Logic, Protools etc at home. At the moment she uses Cubase on PC but today we really were talking about getting a Mac. Is an iMac enough for this kinda thing, or would she need a Mac Pro?

The way I see it, I LOVE the iMac because it's so sleek and so minimalistic in design. I'm thinking get one of the higher end ones and up the RAM etc, spec it up a bit, and it'll still come out cheaper than a Mac Pro (because you'd have to buy the screen etc on top of it, and the Mac Pro itself is so expensive, but obviously more powerful).

She's not going to be doing any movie editing, or graphic design or anything like that, just music production, along with the usual, Office documents, internet, email, a bit of gaming... that sorta thing.
