1. Shaquille O'Neal C 29 7'1'' 320 A+ D+ C+ A+ A C
Career Stats: 23.4PPG, 2.8 BPG 12.4 RPG, 51% FG
Notes: Hands down the most dominate player at any position in the league. Can carry a team with not a whole lot of talent around him as being witnessed this season in Vancouver. Rumours are that Shaq is on the block whether Vancouver looks to pull the trigger on arguably the best player in the league is yet to be season. Shaq is a beast in the inside can easily dominate a game both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. The offense revolved around Shaq and he creates opportunities for everyone else on the court. When Shaq is out there, that raises everyone stats and production.
2. Tim Duncan C 25 7'0'' 248 A- C- C A A B
Career stats: 17.9ppg, 2.1 BPG, 13.1 RPG, .45% FG
Notes: At only 25 years of age Duncan is already one of the premier players in the league. He's had to deal with a very badly run franchise in Cleveland but has shown his loyalty to the Cleveland franchise by re-signing to a huge contract in the offseason. His numbers up to this point have not been amazing, but he's getting better year after year and most importantly he is extremely consistent. A double-double game in and game out. Duncan can very well take the #1 spot in a season or two as Shaq gets older. Tim Duncan does not have the same strength game as Shaq but he is the most fundamentally sound player in the league. The Cavaliers could be a surprise playoff team this year thanks to Duncan.
3. Alonzo Mourning PF/C 31 6'10'' 256 A- C- C A A D
Career stats: 19.4 ppg, 12.6RPG, 3.5 BPG, .45% FG
Alonzo Mounring is a proven winner so his frustration with the constant revolving door that is the General Manager position of Portland had him demanding a trade or sitting out for the season and the Trail Blazers were forced to deal Zo to the Pistons for future considerations and a promising project like Nazr Mohammed. Zo is one of the best shot blockers this league has ever seen and has a great inside offensive game. At 31 years of age he is still hands down one of the best players in this league. He will have an opportunity to team up with Tony Parker, Ron Artest and Michael Finley and hopefully turn Detroit into a contender.
4. Dikembe Mutombo C 34 7'2'' 249 B D+ C- A+ A- C
Career Stats: 10.2 PPG, 11.3 RPG, 3.6 BPG, .43% FG
Notes: Dikembe Mutombo does not make this list due to his offensive prowess but Mutombo will go down in history as one of the premier post- defenders and shot blockers in the game. At 34 years of age he is still an intimidating force inside the paint and teams struggle when they face the Chicago Bulls with Mutombo in the paint. If Mutombo ever developed any sort of offensive game we could be talking about one of the top 5 Centers of all-time still his defensive ability alone makes him a top 10-15 Center of all-time and at 34 years of age to still be so productive is an incredible feat considering there are rumours that he may even be much older.
5. Alejandro Camby C 30 6'11'' 251 B+ C- C- B A- D
Career Stats: 17.4PPG, 12.8 RPG, 2.7BPG, .457FG%
Notes: There is no doubt when you have two of the top 5 Centers in this league you will win championships as witnessed with the Chicago Bulls with Dikembe Mutombo and number five on this list Alejandro Camby. Camby has benefited from playing along side Mutombo and has turned into a terrific off-the ball defender. He uses his agility and quickness to get blocked shots and has more of a refined offensive game than Mutombo. One of the best front courts in the history of UOSLR. What makes Alejandro Camby's story so remarkably that he was a relatively unknown coming out of the college of Marshall a school known more for it's football than it's basketball program. Camby an unsigned free agent has just gotten better and better year after year. Which shows that hard work and perserverance can get you far.
