Power Rankings:
The first few sims of the season have gone by and now it is time for some POWER RANKINGS! Who has gotten off to a great start!!
1. Detroit Pistons (11-2): The Detroit Pistons are playing the best basketball early this season. Led by the 39 year old veteran superstar Michael Jordan the Pistons look to contend as one of the top teams in the east. Jordan has a strong young supporting cast around him with the likes of Tony Parker, Ron Artest and Nazr Mohammed that makes this team lethal. They have the right combanation of vets and youth to make this one of the top teams in the league at this point. The Pistons have played great basketball early on.
2. Orlando Magic (7-2): The magic have played not that many games in the early goings of this season but look to be one of the best teams out east. They’re second because they have not played many games but I am sure they could move up on the list at any point this year. They’re a stacked team that has all the makings of a championship contender. With Allen Houston and Sam Cassell running the show this team will be scoring a lot of points. The Magic are going to be a tough team to take down come playoff time.
3.Golden State Warriors (12-4): The warriors are a team that not many would consider to be an elite team but right now are playing good basketball. They’re a very efficient team that limits their turnovers and shoots high percentages. Led by Chris Webber and Gilbert Arenas the Warriors are a dominant team that we will be seeing a lot of in the weak western conference.
4. New York Knicks (11-5): The Knicks led by Shawn Marion and Wang Zhi-Zhi come in at 2nd place in the eastern conference. They would be higher on the list if it were not for key injuries to Marcus Camby and Travis Best in this early part of this young season. They Knicks are a good young squad that the league will see more of in the coming years. With guys like Amare Stoudemire and Richard Jefferson waiting in the helms to help be key players on this team, things are looking up in New York.
5. Houston Rockets (11-4): The Rockets come in 5th here on the list. They probably have the best 1, 2, 3 in the league at the moment and are considered one of the best offensive teams. Their only problem is their frontcourt, they lack any sort of starter worthy 4 or 5 and that will hurt them. They play in the weak west so they will always be considered a championship contender, and with an offense power they have, they will always be a tough team to beat.
6. Milwaukee Bucks (10-5): The Bucks have not started off this season like they did last year, but the Bucks are still a top team. They lost a heart breaker to the Bulls in the playoffs last year, which really hurt this teams morale. The Bucks are still a force though with young guys AI and Ray Allen at the 1 and 2. One of the strongest offensive teams and a good core 1 through 5, the bucks will always be a tough team to beat. I see the bucks have a deep run this year now that the Bulls are nowhere to be found.
7. Cleveland Cavaliers (10-4): The Cavs could be higher on this list if it were not for their GM. He has been pretty horrible in UOSLR, never around taking care of his team. They have too horrible scrubs still on their roster that makes this team a joke. Tim Duncan makes this team a top force in the east but I believe their gm is holding them back. The cavs will never win a championship, they need more pieces surround Timmay.
8. Atlanta Hawks: (9-5) The Hawks gm Chipper right now is competing with time as the contract year is coming upon him. He has made a few recent moves early this season to make his team a playoff contender. Adding the likes of superstar Steve Nash and SAR adding to a core of Wagner, Smith and Michael O the Hawks will be a playoff team out west. One of the main problems with the hawks is that they play no defense and in the end they will not get very far with what they have going.
9. Chicago Bulls: (8-4) The Bulls make the list just because of their recent history and being the defending champions. The Bulls are a very old team though that will not make that much noise anymore. Still with EP at the helm this team is very dangerous and could be lethal come the playoffs. I believe GM Tiger will look to get younger as he knows that his days of competing are practically over. There are new forces in the East.
10. Sacramento Kings: (8-6) It is tough to say who would be the 10th team on this list but I gave it to the Kings. The west right now is in some bad shape, almost everyone is tanking for a top pick. But I think at this point the Kings are better than the bottom list of playoff teams in the East. With the star power of Dirk, Kemp and Jason Kidd you can understand why this team makes the list. They have all the tools of a contender, but something is missing. Offensively they could use some help, which I think their gm should try to add some weapons to this roster. They could be a lot better in the weak west.
