I believe I'm the only petroleum engineer here, but I think everyone will think this is pretty awesome. This sucker came up with an ROV in the Gulf of Mexico after the service company was done setting some sub-surface equipment for an oil rig in 8500' of water. Bet that scared the shit outta the crew. It's like 2.5 ft. long Attachments:

has this ever been seen before? Ever, like in the history of the world? No clue. Ever, like in the history of oil production? I highly doubt it. I have no deep-sea platform experience, but I'm pretty sure this has never been seen before.

theres lots of shit down there that we've never seen. For real, some of the whackest animals are chillen down there. Btw csdude, petroleum engineering is like the best job possible for just a 4 year degree. If I'm not mistaken, it's the average highest paying job with just a bachelor degree.. Good call.

Yeah, compared to other engineering disciplines it is the highest paying I think. The reason for that is that a petroleum engineer has an immense amount of responsibility placed on them right from the get-go.
