We've seen Broph's Franchise rankings however how have the current GM's impacted their teams? Wins and losses aren't the end all be all of being a great or poor GM. Trades, Salary, and Future planning is all part of the equation to evaluating how a GM performs. Lets take a look around the league as we rank the elite, the good, the average, the below average, and the poor.
Boston Celtics- IB4 hasn't been in the league all too long however he has fallen into the trap of improper balance and false sense of readiness. His teams are comprised of aging all-stars and underachieving prospects. This team isn't going anywhere fast except for the middle of the pack which I feel is no where to be.
Evaluation: Average
Miami Heat- Iflip has had some very good teams however he's been unable to take his team over the next hump to championship caliber. His teams were right at the cusp however he was unable to put another move or two together to achieve such greatness. It would have been great to see him do something in the offseason to acquire contracts to trade or write articles to improve his studs into superstuds.
Evaluation: Average
New Jersey Nets- Broph is super active. It doesn't get much more active than him. He's built some solid teams at the wrong times. He's like Patrick Ewing going up against Michael Jordan. I really can't fault him for that. He writes articles and is sensible with his cap spending.
Evaluation: Elite
New York Knicks- Dan Basone is far too idle with his teams when it comes to the trade market. However when he does trade he makes some really good ones. If this evaluation included coaching than he'd be poor but it doesn't. If he were to become more proactive with his team than he'd in a much better position.
Evaluation: Average
Orlando Magic- Shuan has had some poor luck with the lotto but he's great at understanding the time to win and the time to rebuild and he sticks with his plan very well. If Shaun had some better luck here or there he might be in a higher class.
Evaluation: Good
Philadelphia 76ers: Tmac has been in the league more than once and in his latest stop he's seen some mixed results. Maybe he is used to seeing the Seattle Mariners tear it up in the regular season and flop come the playoffs but this seems to be his thing. His teams have never went deep into the playoffs which is evident by the supersonics and 76ers losing records in the playoffs.
Evaluation: Average
Washington Bullets- Don is pretty conservative and doesn't really break the bank to easily. He's a crafty vet that knows when to hold them and when to fold them. He's probably one of the better and more underrated GMs in the league but he needs to be more of a go getter if he wants to win a ring. Scared money don't make money.
Evaluation: Good
Atlanta Hawks- Jay has stepped into a pretty dreadful situation and hasn't really done too much to correct it. To his defense he really hasn't made it any worse but this franchise needs more than an idle GM to fix the woes that Chipper left behind.
Evaluation: Poor
Charlotte Hornets: Gnts is still in the league somehow some way. Maybe because everyone has just forgotten about the Hornets with Spencer's 2nd retirement. Anyways the Hornets have just been becoming more of a shit pile since he has taken over and if anything comes about this team its because gnts sucked so bad he landed OJ Mayo and Evan Turner.
Evaluation: Poor
Chicago Bulls- Tiger has done the best job in the league in my opinion of building his franchise. It all started when he acquired Dikembe Mutombo to compliment the beast which became Preira however Tiger has always made that kind of move to better his team. Last year it was Deshawn Stevenson. He's never afraid to pull the trigger but then again he is poised to wait for the right move to come about.
Evaluation: Elite
Cleveland Cavs- Stryo has had mixed results in the sim. I've been one of his harsher critics however I seemed to have lit a flame under his ass because he's really picked it up. He's had some questionable moves but he's active and on top of the pulse of the league which is very important. He's made his team into a winner and I think he should enjoy some success for a while.
Evaluation: Good
Detroit Pistons: OJ whoever the fuck is the GM of this team and he's like the dog who's bark is worse than his bite. He's made some see-saw moves which has left his team as a bottom dweller. Should be interesting to see how he handles Manu, Artest, and Aminu.
Evaluation: Poor
Indiana Pacers- Andrew has consistently gotten better and better each and every season. Theres never a doubt in my mind he'll be competitive and I was happy to see him win his first ring to become a part of the elite Central group. He makes great trades, FA moves, and his players love him so much they play for cheap.
Evaluation: Elite
Milwaukee Bucks- You fill in the blanks
Evaluation: ??
Toronto Raptors- Saga is one of the most successful GMs in the history of the league. He's been in the playoffs more times than not and he has the ring to show for it. He's done it while being in the toughest division in the league. His name sounds like a greek god.
Evaluation: Elite
Dallas Mavericks- Kobe is a fun GM in the league and I can't say a bad thing about him personally however he's made some bad moves for his franchise that have left him hanging. He needs to learn when to go for it and when to sit tight. It's the most commonly made mistake but he's a great part of this league.
Evaluation: Average
Denver Nuggets- Jedi has been here before and so far he's been ehh mediocre. He is in a bad situation and he hasn't made the right moves to better himself. The best analogy I can use is that he's running but he's on a treadmill. He can certainly improve over time but for now...
Evaluation: Poor
Houston Rockets- Andrew Scott sends me PMs anytime he changes his display name. The guy has extreme character and kindness to him. He's also super active almost to an annoyance. He's going to right he ship in Houston I have no doubt about it. He's a great GM to have in this league.
Evaluation: Average
Minnesota Timberwolves- Trunks is great when he wants to be great. Lately he's been a bit ghostly. I'm gonna call him out and say he's really sucked lately and maybe we should think of replacing him. It's all up to Trunks whether or not he wants to be a prime time player in this league again.
Evaluation: Average
San Antonio Spurs- Play has really picked it up in the league since he entered under an alias of AJ23. He's been proactive in the trade market and built a winner fast. He was on the cusp of winning a championship but tore it down. I would have liked to see him ride it out one more year but I trust Play's judgement.
Evaluation: Good
Utah Jazz- We'll just pretend Mike is still here. Wow this guy sucked ass more than a gay porn star. He talked a lot of shit and fucked up a whole lot. I'm so happy my deal put him over the hard cap and I knew it would prior to making it with him. Ultimately he couldn't hack it so he had to pack it.
Evaluation: Piss Poor
Grizzlies- CSdude has built championship team after championship team. He's awesome at identifying when its time to tear it up and he's very quick in building it back up to where it was. He's been great in free agency as well in the trade market. Big time balls to go out and get old man Priera.
Evaluation: Elite
Golden State Warriors- Aar is another GM who understands the value of trading. He's consistently getting the upper hand in trades and is stern about doing so. I find it very easy and very hard to trade with him. He's easy to make a trade with but very hard to get the upper hand on him. Then again you just have to let him think he has the upper hand He's a big time winning GM with 2 rings to show for it.
Evaluation: Elite
LA Clippers- Some may think crazymike is a great GM because his team consistently win 50 games however he does jack to improve his teams. He send the occasional "see anything you like for this guy" PMs however he never makes offers and sits on his teams way too much. He could have won some championships if he would have gotten crafty and got some expiring guys with birds and signed them to larger contracts to dangle as trade bait.
Evaluation: Average
LA Lakers- DBW has done some serious work since he's joined the league. He took the Lakers from being the side show of hollywood to the red carpet event. He's made some great trades that haven't crippled his future however he's failed to get over the hump. He'll get over sooner or later and I believe sooner.
Evaluation: Elite
Phoenix Suns: Jah has been on cruise control for way too long. Modern Warfare has turned him into the COD father but its really affected his activity here. We lone for the days when Jah was a beast in this league. Please someone get him back!
Evaluation: Average
Portland Trailblazers- CC is a breathe of fresh air. He's a long time veteran of sims and he should be able to do something with this franchise. He's already put his stamp on the team and they are looking very good. Can't wait to see the Blazers compete.
Evaluation: Good
Sacramento Kings: Marty is one of the more controversial GMs by design. He loves playing the pest and he's quite good at it. He isn't the best at putting a team together however he manages to do it from time to time.
Evaluation: Average
Seattle Supersonics- Chipper is back and on a new coast but still same old Chipper. He's fun, he's active, and he likes to trade. He makes the league go round. We'll see if he's able to put Seattle back on the map. Make it rain! Make it rain! Chipper!
