Just read this.... www.nytimes.com/2010/03/30/us/30bully.html?src=meThis is very recent. How would you feel about yourself if your actions caused this? So sad really. I don't mean to compare the two but just an example of how saying stuff over the internet can be hurtful and also illegal.

lol stfu...ducky wouldn't be liable for shit. This case would get tossed out in court. Play, I can guarantee you that Ducky would get in trouble for this if it went to court, and believe me, it's not worth the hassle. I know in Australia (and I'd say our Constitution would be incredibly similar with yours, minus the stupidity), it is becoming more and more common for people to sue over defamation charges on the internet. A lot of you guys think it's 'just the internet' but it's not anymore. There are cases I studied in school that directly deal with this. Generally they wouldn't be liable like proboards for instance has a TON of disclaimers not involving themselves with what is said here but someone like Ducky is in a grey area. Pending on states it would be tough especially if the accuser is in another state it would be hard to prosecute not being a federal case.

Krup, this happened to a very close friend of mine. It's a fucking epic story, but he ended up having to consult lawyers and front the police over something very 'innocent'. He risked being slapped with criminal record! It wasn't innocent at all, but it was a bit of internet fun that went to far.

Sorry, but what has marty said that would get him into a court situation with Kru? doesn't need to be repeated. It's over. Which means it never happened. This would never go to court.

I agree with Krup, however, gotta correct you on one thing: It's not illegal. It's the internet, stuff that's posted there is, well, public. There's no illegality in posting it. I agree with everything else you said though, just playing Devil's Advocate. 100% wrong. You can get in A LOT of trouble for 'slagging' someone off online these days. It's not 1999 anymore. You can, however, not for what Marty did. What he did was wrong, but it's not as if he posted contact information and address etc. for Kru, unless I missed that. Or if Marty threatened to beat up Kru or stalk him or whatever. You can get in trouble, but depending on the site's TOS and what not, it can and does get thrown out of court all the time.

Everything he said in the article seemed perfectly legal to me. Although the article had no humor and was a dumb idea, it was legal.

Some people have mentioned that you "could" take it to court. There's no chance. Sorry to break your hearts.

It was wrong for Marty to personally attack Krup though.

What marty had been doing is very dumb, but even mentioning this as a legal situation is just as dumb as what marty did, in my opinion.

Some people have mentioned that you "could" take it to court. There's no chance. Sorry to break your hearts. Defamation of character, slander, and harrassment are all justifiable reasons to take something to court. Winning in court is another thing however I'm not really trying to prove anything. The point is we should all be mindful of each other personally. No one should intentionally try to be hurtful. We should all try to have fun and enjoy the league. The end.
