I agree with Krup, however, gotta correct you on one thing: It's not illegal. It's the internet, stuff that's posted there is, well, public. There's no illegality in posting it. I agree with everything else you said though, just playing Devil's Advocate. Sure there is freedom of speech. However the activity that he mentioned is illegal and also hurtful and I don't want my name even remotely linked to it. The action of him saying it is defamation of character and slander so legally I could pursue action (yes even though its the internet). |

Meh... it's a stretch, but you could try it if you really wanted to. I know stuff has been thrown out of court though many a times involving internet slander etc. So yeah.

Also, fwiw, the Internet is not necessarily an American thing. I mean, Martinez could be in Spain or somewhere. He could be Tiger and not be an American citizen. So how do you press charges? See, that's where the problem is here, and why I think you have no case to call it illegal.

Also, fwiw, i feel like whoever deleted it acted appropriately. Personal jabs over posting or pm is fine, but articles is just going too far out of your way to insult someone. I feel like Marty should get the upgrades, but have the article stay deleted and let him off with a warning. Just my 2 cents.

I know in Australia (and I'd say our Constitution would be incredibly similar with yours, minus the stupidity), it is becoming more and more common for people to sue over defamation charges on the internet. A lot of you guys think it's 'just the internet' but it's not anymore. |
