First and foremost, this is NOT solely just a ranking based on my opinion of each GM, nor is it just a ranking of GM success. This ranking takes into account all the factors I feel that are most important. And they are: Activity, GM Skills, SLR success, Duckyness and of course how many championships you have! Duckyness is basically the subjective rating on how I feel about you overall as a GM. This to me is the best ranking, because the GMs who do well in all of these aspects will be high on the list. And those are the type of GMs I want in my league. It will also weed out the one dimensional GMs (ie the shitty, but active GMs… The good GM that doesn’t ever post).
Note: Also know that my assessment of GM skills could include the types of deals you made in other leagues (especially if you haven’t been in SLR very long). However, the rest of the aspects used to rank each GM are based just on SLR.
GM RANKINGS
Template: Ranking – Team Name – GM – Activity Skills Success Duckyness Rings Overall
1 - Chicago Bulls - Tigetecz 4 4 5 5 5 23
Tiger is arguably the best GM here. He has the most championships in SLR, he is a league top 10 poster, and he always seems to make good deals. It’s incredibly how much he can contribute to this league despite on usually when everyone else is asleep. Tiger is a beast of an animal, and has separated himself from the rest of this league. He excels in every aspect, especially at winning championships, and this is why he’s #1 in UOSLR. Tiger does need to credit EP though for a lot of his success though. Animal buddies for life.
2 - Indiana Pacers - ApNeDtRiEeW 4 5 5 5 1 20
Another fantastic GM right here. I mean let’s get real, Andrew has more wins than any other active GM in UOSLR history. What’s crazy is before UOSLR started, I never thought too much of Andrew other then he was an OK GM who contributed to the league. But he’s done work so far in SLR and has put this entire league to shame. He’s built quality squads year after year, and just this season when I thought his team would be too old and washed up to compete, he goes out and shits on competition to start out the season. I also like that Andrew helps out in the league by tallying articles and ITs for me, thanks. The only thing keeping Andrew back from being #1 is his inability to win it all.
3 - Milwaukee Bucks - krupimpski424 5 4 4 3 2 18
Well, this is krup, he likes to complain and whine. But he does run his own website, like me, which is pretty cool. And he’s one of the better GMs here in terms of skill and activity. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the constant bitching, he probably would be at #3 in these rankings. But like I said, I consider all aspects, and that’s one aspect krup needs to work on. In fact, he’s probably reading this right now thinking of a way to complain. Love the guy, and want him in my league, but he needs to tone it down a notch. Nevertheless, krup is one of the most active GMs here and he has won a championship, so he has certainly earned a spot as one of the league’s best GMs. Draft mod ftw too. EDIT: Just realized he has two championships, not one! That puts him in a tie with cc, and the 2 rings gives him the edge in the tie breaker.
4 - Portland Trailblazers - cc 4 4 5 4 1 18
CC has been around the UOSL’s forever it seems. I’m really glad he rejoined UOSLR, because he always makes this league better. He’s really good in activity, gm skills, success, and duckyness. It’s really hard to find a fault in CC. And to be this high after being in the league for only a few seasons, goes to show the kind of quality he brings to the table. Maybe the high ranking is a little premature --- And as I am writing this, I completely forgot CC won a championship with the Warriors before this, so he moves up even higher. CC has actually been very successful in UOSLR with both the Warriors and the Blazers, definitely one of the better GMs in this league.
5 - New Jersey Nets - Brophdogg88 5 4 3 5 17
Posts matter, just ask the king of posting. Broph poops on the entire world, three times in a row repeated in sequence, when it comes to activity. I swear, Broph starts and ends each morning with UOSLR. It’s rumored he has a Taylor Swift tattoo on his back, along with UOSLR tattooed on his leg. The man is a machine. But not that’s not the only reason he is ranked this high, no, he is also a very solid GM who has run into some bad luck. Had things gone his way, we could very well see Broph on top of these rankings. Unfortunately, luck isn’t taken into consideration when I make these rankings, so broph will have to get it done not only in the post count, but also in the win column if he wants to be the best. Draft mod ftw too.
6 - Los Angeles Lakers - DeeperThanSims 4 5 4 4 17
The second I saw this gangsta in NDSL, I wanted him in UOSLR. I didn’t care if I had to use chipper and other rapable GMs as bait to get him in, I just wanted him here because I knew not only would he make this league better, but it’d also be a great challenge for him. He’s been pretty tremendous in all aspects since joining. His playoff success for the amount of talent he had was pretty pitiful. But how he was able to turn a two year rebuilding job into an 8 year dynasty after just joining was incredibly impressive. Once DBW can show he can win in playoffs, then he’ll be up there with Andrew and Tiger. Until then, he’s stuck at the same level as the post whores, and Mr. bitchy.
7 - Cleveland Cavaliers - styro 5 3 4 5 17
Styro is also another forum whore. In fact, when you consider the amount of time styro’s been here, it’s pretty incredible that he has the 4th most posts among GMs. He’s been on a roll for ten thousand years or so, he’s got momentum baby! The man knows how to get it done on the forums. Styro has also had a good amount of success with his Cavaliers too. In under a decade, he’s had more winning seasons than two of our franchises that have been around for 22 seasons lol. Even though I love having styro as a GM, I’m still not sold he’s on the same talent level as our other top 8 GMs. Remember, styro is relatively new to UOSLR, and I haven’t known him for very long either. It’ll be easier to assess him in another decade of seasons or so. Regardless of his GM skills being about average, Styro is still one of the best GMs around.
8 - San Antonio Spurs - play34basketball 4 4 3 5 16
Play is always one of the best GMs wherever you go. Although play hasn’t had the best of success so far here in UOSLR, he’s still done the right moves to build his teams correctly. Clearly the GM talent is there, it’s just a matter of him being able to get some rhythm going and building a dynasty. Play is also a great help around the league. If he didn’t do draft files so far, I don’t think the league would be where it’s at right now, so major props to play. I hope to relieve him of these duties soon, because I know he would have more fun if he could draft his own players instead of making us draft for him to be fair. Been there, done that, definitely know that feeling. Anyway, play is one of the best here, and is always ready to help, quality GM.
9 - Washington Bullets - Donatello2424 4 3 4 4 15
Of all the rankings up to this point, I feel like most have been fairly accurate. However, I think you could definitely make a case for don to be higher on this list. Giving him a 3 on GM skills might be a bit harsh, but I just don’t feel like he’s on the same level as the GMs above him. There’s no doubt don can build good teams, but it just seems like he can never get over the hump and build an ELITE team. And whether that’s a DC problem or a lack of knowing how to build teams correctly, don just doesn’t have it yet. With that being said, his activity is great and he’s been mostly a winner so far in this league. I still think the jury is out on this GM.
10 - Toronto Raptors - Sagapolutele50 4 2 5 3 1 15
I used to be kind of critical of saga in the past. He seemed just like a GM who liked to be around and was a great guy, but never really built amazing teams or was never a really active GM. But he’s surprised me so far in UOSLR. He’s been a very active GM and has had tremendous success, just check out his championship ring. So definitely props to saga, and he’s moved up in my books just because of his stint here. However, I still have little faith in Saga’s trading skills. Like I said, he’s getting better, but I feel like most the GMs here have the upper hand in trading. This is totally my opinion, and I’m sure some people will disagree (including saga ), but that’s how I see it. That still takes nothing away from what he’s done here so far in UOSLR, and he’s certainly earned this top 10 ranking.
11 - Minnesota Timberwolves - Gotrunks226 3 3 3 5 1 15
Gotta love GMs like trunks. He’s been around for a while, and is a true UOSL’er. The only reason he’s still in any leagues is because of UOSL. He knows what a great thing we got going here, and I applaud him for sticking around all these years and always being a solid GM. He isn’t the most active GM, nor would I consider him to be one of the most talented GMs here, but he’s a veteran and he knows what he has to do to build a good team. He’s got a ring to show his worth in this league, one of only 10 GMs who can brag out it. If trunks could be a little more active, and show a little more consistency in winning, then he’d definitely be top 10 material.
12 - Golden State Warriors - aarh3d 1 5 4 4 1 15
First of all, I have to say that aar is one of the best GMs in this league when it comes to building teams. However, he is also one of the worst GMs in terms of activity, when you consider how long he’s been in UOSLR. I know he’s a busy man, but I’d love to see him work on the activity department by contributing to the league a little more. Even with his MEH activity, he still boasts good success including a championship ring to show off. A little more posting here and there from aar, and he’s easily a top 10 GM in this ranking.
13 - New York Knicks - DB - BasoneD121 5 3 3 3 14
I’ll always admire Dan’s loyalty to UOSL. It seems like the rest of the Connecticut guys would come and go, and essentially were flakes. But Basoned has stuck around, always helped out, and has been a good GM in all the UOSL versions, props to him for that. His activity in UOSLR has been really good, and definitely no complaint there. However, I think he’s struggled in UOSLR more than any of the UOSL versions. He’s had a string of solid teams so far in SLR, but he hasn’t got a higher win season then 55 wins. I know he can do better than that. Give Dan a bit more time, and I’m sure he’ll have a party in New York soon.
14 - Philadelphia 76ers - tmaczdaddy 4 3 4 3 14
My brother has done a pretty good job overall in UOSLR. He did really well in his first stint with the Sonics taking them practically every year to the playoffs. And even though his Sixers have been massive underachievers, they still make the playoffs and the squad had some serious talent. Like most the GMs ranked around this area, he just needs to get over the hump and build a team that can do some damage. But tmacz has earned to be ranked as in the top half of these rankings.
15 - Orlando Magic - Shaunkol 2 3 4 3 1 13
I always feel like Shaun is one of the more underrated GMs. He doesn’t post a whole lot, and is kind of quiet. He really goes unnoticed. I honestly had no clue he had a championship lol. He’s developed some strong teams with the Magic. I can’t really complain too much in the department of GM skills and his success with his team. However, his lack of participation is sucky and it would be nice to get more activity out of solid GMs like him. I do appreciate, though, that shaun has been a UOSL’er for quite a while, and has been the Magic for all UOSLR so far.
16 - Dallas Mavericks - Kobe24 4 3 2 4 13
I wasn’t so sure how things would turn out when Kobe first joined UOSLR. He was solid from what I could tell in NDSL, but I’m always highly cautious about bringing in GMs that I don’t know much about. But Kobe has done fine so far in UOSLR and has definitely given me confidence in him as a GM. He has struggled a bit to get a good team rolling, but he’s had a couple 3-4 year stints of winning seasons. Hopefully after this current rebuilding process, he can turn things around and get the Mavs to a consistent winning basis, something they haven’t seen in their franchise history. But Kobe knows how to GM and is really active too, so it’s great to have him around. Definitely in the middle of the UOSLR pack.
17 - Detroit Pistons - insaneradical23 4 4 1 3 12
Insane has been a good recent addition to this league. I already know he can GM and build a great team, but I’ve been pleased so far with his activity. His team sucks, and he really hasn’t done a whole lot with them so far. But considering the situation he had to step into, I definitely applaud him for sticking around and trying to turn this team around. And on top of that, he hasn’t disappeared like some GMs do when things aren’t going their way. Insane might get fired for not making in CY soon, but even if he does, he’s certainly welcomed back into this league.
18 - Miami Heat - ifliphottboi 2 2 4 4 12
Here’s another GM who has been around the UOSL world for a long time. His success so far in UOSLR surprised m a bit. I guess with guys like flip and shaun who don’t post a whole lot, their success seems to go more unnoticed. Flip has had 9 winning seasons in his 11 seasons so far in UOSLR. Not too bad if you ask me. And after coming off a conference finals appearance, his team is already off to a great start this season at 22-10. Flip’s a busy many like most of our less active GMs, but he still posts a decent amount. I would like to see him pick it up in that area though.
19 - Los Angeles Clippers - Crazymike2021 3 2 4 1 1 11
Mike is so crazy. With him as a GM, you have sort of a love and hate relationship. He makes some decisions sometimes where I’m like WTF, but then he builds some surprisingly sick teams that beast. This last championship was big for mike to make the top 20. And his ‘nice’ and ‘cool’ posts can get a bit old. And his activity is sporadic and at times non-existent especially in the regular season thread. With that being said, mike is a really nice guy and he’s been around for a while. And with this recent championship and dynasty he’s built, I should cut the man some slack. He’s done a solid job in UOSLR.
20 - Phoenix Suns - Jahallstar 3 2 3 2 10
Jah is average at everything. He’s our average jah. Jahverage. In his entire 22 seasons at UOSLR, he’s had ZERO 50+ win seasons. That’s pretty disgusting, but at the same time he’s made the playoffs 15 times. Again, average. His activity is extremely sporadic, but generally he’s pretty solid in UOSLR. I’ve never seen jah make some big deals and build a dynasty, and that’s why he’s so low on this list. He seems to be content with being average in every aspect. A slight elevation in his activity, trading, and winning would shoot him up this list so ridiculously fast.
21 - Seattle Supersonics - chipperboy18 4 1 2 3 10
Not gonna lie, I’m extremely uncomfortable having Chipper this high. Maybe my ranking system is messed up, but it is what it is. His hawks team was fairly uneventful expect two 50 win seasons in 2002 & 2003. But just these last two years has chipper ever experienced ‘winning’ in UOSLR. It’s a beautiful thing. The scariest part is that I expect to see chipper compete for at least 5 more years since the core players of his team are all fairly young. He’s got a good thing going; hopefully he doesn’t screw it up. Chip is always really active as long as he’s not partying with the leprecon at the pub or at his jewish band camps. Chip’s a nice guy too.
22 - Sacramento Kings - in4trance 5 2 2 1 10
Active as hell, but has done very little with his Kings. I honestly can’t remember the last time they were a serious threat to anyone. Marty’s is a lot of talk, with very little results. Really the only results we’ve seen from him is a very high post count. He and krup are always flirting. It seems like he tries to aggravate krup because he has a thing for him or something. They are both terribly annoying and that evidently hurts their rankings. But what hurts marty even more is his crap success and failure to build the Kings into anything good.
23 - Atlanta Hawks - Jaybourne 2 3 2 2 9
When we first rehired jay, I was a little worried if he could be as successful and active as he was in UOSL2. I was even more worried after his first few seasons of not doing a whole lot with the Hawks. But now, he’s already turned things around and is on rate to tie the Hawks record of most winning seasons in a row: 2. Lol. This poopy franchise is finally working its way back up, thanks to Jay. Jay’s activity was meh to start with, but he’s definitely picking it up. We are starting to see the dominant UOSL2 Jay.
24 - Denver Nuggets - ukfanjohn 1 3 2 3 9
In UK’s first season in UOSLR, he led the Nuggets to their first winning season in over 7 years. Quite a feat for a n00b. UK has proven to me in other leagues that he knows what he’s doing and has a great feel for sims. And he’s already shown it early on in UOSLR. But, his lack of activity has been disappointing so far. Generally, except in Marty’s case, when you are really active, you have a much better feel for the league and as a result, you’ll build better teams. I’d like to see UK step it up in terms of activity.
25 - Houston Rockets - spiritofexodus 2 2 2 2 1 9
Pig is solid in BBS. And he’s always great in UOSLR for his first few seasons or so, winning championships with 8th seeded teams. But then, he disappears and usually ends up fired or quits. I want to see pig stick around for a while and build those beast teams we used to see in past UOSL’s. After being pretty successful with Buffalo in a short stint, it’ll be great to see what pig does with the Rockets. Anyway, it’s way too early to say much about pig at all, time will tell if this ranking is justified at all.
26 - Utah Jazz - princemaharajah 3 1 1 3 8
Prince is like our second jah, but without any success so far in UOSLR. If you look closely at princemaharajah’s username you notice the word ‘jah’ at the end of his name. Coincidence? Hardly, these guys are clearly share the same average blood stream. Prince’s activity is actually pretty solid, and I might have short changed him here. But when it comes to trading and building good teams, I have 0 faith in prince’s GM skills. After failing with the Pistons, he gets a chance at redemption with the Jazz.
27 – Charlotte Hornets - James 2 2 1 3 8
James is a pimp, but he just isn’t so hot anymore. I know the man is done with uni, so now he has less time to be on his computer, but still doesn’t negate the fact that he’s just not at the same level as he was in the past. The activity is OK, but nothing like it was before. And it’s clearly too early to judge what he can do with this team. I want to see more out of James though.
28 - Boston Celtics - ibray 2 1 1 3 7
I’m a little concerned about ray. He’s a tight hombre, and is a UOSL’er, but ray just isn’t pulling in together so far. Through his 7 years here so far, he’s done a horrible job with the Celtics. In fact, his pick will likely end up as a top 5 pick, yet he doesn’t own it. Clearly ray has proven he can build good teams in other leagues, but he needs to turn things around here quick. His activity has been pretty poor as well, but seeing him be involved in this latest post pad thread shows me he’s serious about improving his team and that’s a great sign to see. I have a feeling we’ll see Ray up these rankings in about 5 years.
29 - Vancouver Grizzlies - Biggie 2 1 1 1 5
He just joined, and is still kind of on his training wheels, so it’s way too early to evaluate and assess his skills. I know bigs is usually active though, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt there and didn’t give him straight 1’s.
Note: Also know that my assessment of GM skills could include the types of deals you made in other leagues (especially if you haven’t been in SLR very long). However, the rest of the aspects used to rank each GM are based just on SLR.
