Kinda bringing back an article I used to do back for the 1993-1996 draft. i will give each players ratings to start and now, followed by a caption of what they are doing currently. Then at the end I will rerank the first round, 1-29 based on my opinion. The 2010 UOSLR Draft was a top Heavy Draft, with a clear top 7 or so players, then a lot of nice role players and terrible players. The Top 3 in this draft was the clear Top 3, then there was a bit of Murkiness, with Udoh, Henry, Hayward and Hassan all being nice players. Only two of the top 7 were relative busts, and for the most part it was a safe draft, with the best players being the clear best players, only a few players slid below where they should, as in reality the 10th to 20th best players in this draft were pretty much interchangeable. For teams in the playoffs already this was a nice draft, as they could add some cheap depth. Teams in the top 3 had it right, teams 4 and 5 made mistakes but dealt them to the Spurs, hurting them mainly. There were no all star steals, just mainly some role players, such as Elliot Williams and Dominique Jones. All in all this was your average draft, with a big Number one, some nice players at 2/3 and some potential to be had through the lotto. Really nobody stands out as a huge bust in this draft though. the format for each box looks like this Draft Position | Player | Position | Height | Weight | Age | Inside | Outside | Handles | Defense | Rebounding | Scouted Potential | Grades Gained | Current Team | Player | Current position | Current Height | Current Weight | Current Age | Current Inside | Current Outside | Current Handles | Current Defense | Current Rebounding | Current Scouted Potential |
1 | Denver Nuggets - John Wall | PG | 6'4'' | 195 | 20 | B | C+ | B- | B- | C- | A | 11 | Nuggets | John Wall | PG | 6'4'' | 195 | 23 | B | B+ | A | A- | C | B |
Wall has developed pretty much as expected, becoming a great PG with high assists ,and acceptable turnovers. While right now his offense is pretty shitty, recent history suggests that he will turn it around in time. Shooting under 70% from the FT line and 30% from three is defiinitely a very bad combo, but Wall plays nice D, and his passing game is amongst the tops in the league, he sees the court well and gets his teammates involved, and his ability to finish at the rim is excellent. As a number one Pick Wall is nice, and while he is underachieving somewhat this season offensively, he is still a stud distributor. 2 | Milwaukee Bucks - Greg Monroe | PF | 6'10'' | 247 | 20 | B- | C- | C+ | C+ | C+ | A | 8 | Bucks | Greg Monroe | PF | 6'10'' | 252 | 23 | A- | C- | C+ | A- | B- | C |
After being considered a reach by many when selected at 2, especially over the perceived talent of Jared Sullinger, Monroe has developed into an excellent player, who can score defend and pass very well. He definitely has a weakness in his rebounding, but the pick of Monroe cannot really be considered a reach anymore, as he has developed into one of the best players to come out of this draft, along with Wall. 3 | Seattle Supersonics - Jared Sullinger | PF | 6'9'' | 265 | 19 | B+ | D+ | D | C | C+ | A | 9 | Lakers | Jared Sullinger | C | 6'10'' | 270 | 22 | A- | D+ | D+ | B | A- | B |
Sullinger looked like the number two prospect in this draft coming out too many GM's, with his B+ inside at only 19 years old, but slipped to three due to questions about his Defense, and whether he would ever be able to slow opposing players enough to be a great player. 4 years and a new team later, Sullinger has developed a defensive game, but he still struggles with fouls, and an inability to stay on the court for extended periods of time. His numbers have taken a pretty big dive as he has been moved to the bench with the Lakers acquisition of Yao Ming and Martynas Andriuskevicius to fill the starting big man role. Sullinger didnt have a great last TC, but I have a feeling he will get paid this offseason by some team wanting to take a chance that he could be a big contributor. 4 | Charlotte Hornets - Paul George | SF | 6'8'' | 210 | 20 | C+ | B | D+ | B- | C+ | A | 3 | Spurs | Paul George | SF | 6'8'' | 210 | 23 | C+ | B+ | D+ | B | B- | B |
Paul George has pretty well busted, becoming a role player suited for a backup 2/3 role at best. His rebounding is advantageous for the position, and with a couple increases he could be a decent starter but I dont see it happening. Paul busting hasnt hurt the Hornets though, as he was shipped off to San Antonio before his bustiness was known for Paul Millsap. Paul has been relegated to sixth man work for the Spurs this year averaging 27.7 minutes per game with only 7.1 points and 5.7 rebounds to show for it. 5 | Detroit Pistons - Al-Farouq Aminu | SF | 6'9'' | 215 | 20 | B- | C+ | C- | C+ | B- | A | 7 | Spurs | Al-Farouq Aminu | SF | 6'9'' | 220 | 23 | C+ | B | C | B | A- | B |
As somebody who loved Aminu's game, I am a bit surprised that he has pretty much developed into Marvin Williams 2.0, with less offense but more defense. Aminu still has a place on most teams due to his ability to bring rebounds out of the SF position while not being a defensive liability, as well as his versatility to play PF SF, and maybe even SG and C some. Still, he is nowhere near what one would expect out of a player picked at 5th overall, and especially not since I valued him as high as the second best player. 6 | Sacramento Kings - Hassan Whiteside | C | 7'0'' | 235 | 21 | C+ | D | D+ | B | C+ | A | 7 | Kings | Hassan Whiteside | C | 7'0'' | 235 | 24 | B | D | C- | A | B- | B |
The player that made Mtg quit, Hassan Whiteside was acquired by Sacramento in a fishy deal that involved illegal tradebacks. Luckily for Sacramento, deals were vetoed/ineligible and suddenly they got to keep the 6th overall pick that they had planned on shipping away for peanuts. Hassan has developed into a defender, with lackluster rebounding but a pretty good shot blocker. Hassan has nice ratings, and his inside is probably a bit inflated at a B coonsidering how he sims, but one can also not ignore the fact that he doesnt really need to score with the players Sacramento can throw at you for scoring. Ekpe probably would have been a better pick here, but Hassan is a similar player in the end, so its not a bad pick. 7 | New Jersey Nets - Xavier Henry | SG | 6'6'' | 220 | 19 | B- | C+ | D | C+ | C | A | 11 | Nets | Xavier Henry | SF | 6'7'' | 220 | 23 | B | A- | C- | A- | C | B |
After desperately attempting to trade up to get Aminu, then watching there next target Whiteside go the pick prior to the Nets selection, New Jersey reluctantly selected Xavier Henry who at 19 was one of the youngest players left in the draft. Henry was a very raw prospect, and had terrible handles at a D, but was thought o have a lot of potential to grow and blossom into a star. All in all though Henry has turned into an underachiever performance wise, even though his ratings have progressed just as much as Wall's. His rebounding is a bit low considering his C rating, and he is a terrible FT shooter, but Henry has been a very efficient player otherwise since he entered the league, shooting about 46% from the fireld since he entered the league and above 41% on threes. Henry is a solid defender, providing 1.2 steals, but, a surprising half a block a game out of the SF position. His biggest plus is his efficiency though as he rarley turns the ball over, averaging .6 turnovers in 32+ minutes per game. At 7 Henry isnt a bad pick, and he still could have some room to grow, but he definitely doesnt sim up to his ratings. 8 | Dallas Mavericks - Ekpe Udoh | PF | 6'10'' | 240 | 23 | C+ | D+ | C- | B | B- | B | 6 | Mavericks | Ekpe Udoh | PF | 6'10'' | 250 | 26 | B | D+ | C | A- | B | A |
Ekpe was an older Rookie entering the league, at 23, but with solid looking ratings and that A scouted, he seemed to be a nice pick at 8. Udoh had a solid first TC, but then stalled somewhat. However, this year has been a bit of a breakout year for Ekpe, even if he was traded earlier this year by Dallas. 14.2 points 11.4 rebounds 2.6 blocks as of the time I write this, with 3.1 assists even and low turnovers. Ekpe may well get paid this offseason, but he isnt deserving of a max contract at this point. This was still a nice pick by the Mavericks though, as they managed to land Emeka using Ekpe as a main piece, and looking at his performance level he was one of the better players at this point available. 9 | Orlando Magic - Wesley Johnson | SF | 6'7'' | 205 | 23 | B- | B- | C | B- | C | B | 2 | Mavericks | Wesley Johnson | SF | 6'7'' | 210 | 26 | B- | B | C- | B+ | C | B |
Wesley Johnson has been a disappointment to put it simply. Called a safe pick, Wesley has turned into well, not much really, gaining only a net 2 overall in his ratings. In all reality, Wesley is a good backup/fill in starter, but his overall skillset is a very easily found one in the league, making him likely to bounce around from team to team for the rest of his career. The one thing that could give Johnson an upper hand is the fact that he can block shots at the wing positions, with a career high of 5 blocks. In his first season, Johnson averaged nearly 1 block per game for the Kings, while last year he put up .6 blocks in just 18 minutes per game. Obviously blocks are a nice stat to get out of a wing, so somebody may pay him and attempt to turn him into a starter, but there will be no max contract offers for Wesley I would bet. Orlando's pick of Wesley didnt hurt them so much as other teams, as they used him as a piece in a deal for Andre Igoudala, who has lit it up for the Magic since that deal. The amazing part about this is, relative to the rest of the draft, Wesley was actually probably picked a spot too late. 10 | Boston Celtics - Ed Davis | PF | 6'9'' | 225 | 21 | C+ | D+ | D- | B | C+ | A | 7 | Cavaliers | Ed Davis | PF | 6'9'' | 225 | 24 | B | D | C- | A- | B- | D |
Ed Davis may well have been a good player, but he spent too much time working on his handles, and not enough time working on every other portion of his game. a 3 point jump from D- to C- is rare to see out of a post, but Ed has certainly focused on it. Ed looks solid, but his big problem is he has the skillset of a shot blocker, with little rebounding, but he doesnt block shots, making him kinda a backup at best. He isnt a great scorer, doesnt hit his free throws all that well, nor does he steal the ball to make up for the shot blocking. Ed really wasnt a bad pick in the end, but he is stuck as a tweener, and will likely stay about as good as he is right now. assets.nydailynews.com/img/2008/01/30/amd_lance-stephenson.jpg [/img] 11 | Houston Rockets - Lance Stephenson | SG | 6'5'' | 210 | 19 | B- | C+ | C | C | C | A | 0 | Rockets | Lance Stephenson | SG | 6'5'' | 210 | 22 | B | C | C | C | C | C |
Lance Stephenson is terrible...there really isnt much more to say about it. He bought into his own hype, believing he was gonna be great, but he certainly was not ready for UOSLR, as he has failed miserably, which is even worse considering that a very nice looking player was selected right after him. OVerall he has gone up a net 0 overall in his ratings, swapping inside and outside over the past four years, and there is a very high chance that once his contract expires after this season, Stephenson will be out of the league, and probably overseas somewhere, and unless some miracle happens and he improves overseas and makes a comeback, Stephensons tenure in UOSLR is going to be very short lived and very disappointing. He is the definition of a bust, a career backup at best, and if he were to stick around, he would be the definition of and a Vet FA...if he lasts that long. 12 | Minnesota Timberwolves - Gordon Hayward | SF | 6'8" | 210 | 20 | C+ | B | C+ | C | C | A | 7 | Raptors | Gordon Hayward | SF | 6'8" | 220 | 23 | B- | A- | C+ | B+ | C | B |
Honestly I was a bit surprised that Hayward fell this far, gooing to Minnesota at 12th overall, but there were some question marks about Haywards ability to translate his game to the next level, and also some Adam Morrison comparisons in regards to his defense. Hayward has put in the work though, and made himself into a solid player at this point in his career, with the ability to score pass rebound and defend, just none of the above at an elite level. He was a far better pick than the three guys ahead of him, and even debatably better than Henry Udoh and Whiteside, as well as Aminu and George. Is he a great player or elite at this point? no, but I see him getting a pretty nice contract 13 | Vancouver Grizzlies - Donatas Motiejunas | PF | 7'0 | 224 | 20 | C+ | B- | D+ | C+ | C | A | 2 | FA | Donatas Motiejunas | PF | 7'0 | 224 | 23 | C | B- | D+ | B | C+ | C |
Bust. It was scary thinking that the defending champions had a late lotto pick. had they hit on this pick, things could have been ugly for the rest of the league, luckily, they selected Donatas, and he pretty much sucks. A lesser Channing Frye, Donatas has pretty much been a bench warmer for the length of his career, finally getting a chance to play some significant minutes last offseason, when the Grizzlies began to tear things down. Finally, Donatas became a free agent as he was released by the Phoenix Suns earlier this season. Had Donatas become a great player, the rest of the league could have been in trouble, but he failed, and the Grizzlies reign has ended. There were definitely better players out there available to the Grizzlies at this point, but 14 | Philadelphia 76ers -Devin Ebanks | SF | 6'7'' | 204 | 21 | C+ | C+ | C | B+ | C | A | 2 | Hawks | Devin Ebanks | SF | 6'7'' | 204 | 24 | B- | C | C | A- | C+ | B |

Nice job. Udoh is really solid. I just didn't want to max him this off-season. I am sort of surprised he has kept up his play for the Nuggets.

Hayward was a no brainer pick there. Selecting Monroe #2 took onions! you have a point, but Hayward was a gem in the midst of nobodies, but for some odd reason he didnt get taken, had you taken Sullinger you would have been fine as well... my reluctance to sullinger was lack of defense as well as an outside shot. I projected him to be a 15-18ppg scorer who shot 60% from the FT line and didn't block shots. I thought Monroe would have been a better rebounder but overall this is what I was hoping he'd turn into.
