(The stats were accurate as of Day 120)
The two main statistics I used when formulating these rankings:
True Shooting % - PTS/(2*(FGA + (.44*FTA)))
Since J was so kind to do the defensive, I decided to take a bite off of his rankings and look at the other side of the ball and find the most efficient offenses.
1. Los Angeles Lakers (Defensive Rank- 1)
The Lakers are the best team all around in UOSLR. They can stop the ball and score at will. With a balanced attack led by Gilbert Arenas and Yao Ming the Lakers are the most efficient team scoring per possession. Their kryptonite is their FT shooting as a team they are in the bottom third of the league.
2. Seattle Supersonics (Defensive Rank- 10)
When people think of the Supersonics they think of Dwight Howard but what they should think is the best backcourt duo in UOSLR. Thats right I said it. Mo Williams and Tyreke Evans are two of the most efficient contributors in the league boasting high FG and FT%. The Sonics practice FT after every practice and it shows. Its amazing the Sonics GM doesn't write articles to improve his team because they could be a championship contender instead of a first round knock out.
3. Portland Trailblazers (Defensive Rank- 4)
The Blazers haven't skipped a beat since losing scoring machine Dirk Nowitzki. As via la France duo Tony Parker and Nicolas Batum are the best 1-2 punch in the league. Batum might be the most unheralded superstar in the league. Watch out for these guys come playoffs.
4. Orlando Magic (Defensive Rank- 8)
The Orlando Magic can score in a number of ways creating several matchup problems with their length and athleticism. Guys like Josh Smith, Lamar Odom, and Andre Igodula can play multiple positions and score both inside as well as out. These guys could be the darkhorse team for a ring this season.
5. Chicago Bulls (Defensive Rank- 17)
Maybe our first surprise team on the list the Chicago Bulls are definitely a team that can score with two of the best inside scoring big men of the league. Both Jefferson and Wang can put the ball in the hoop if they catch it inside the paint. Their possessions are limited though and it would have been interesting to see if Tiger would have pushed the pace if the Bulls could have scored more points.
6. Indiana Pacers (Defensive Rank- 16)
Its kind of shocking how good the Pacers are yet they don't rank so well. I guess when you have two efficient scorers like Michael Redd and David Lee anything is possible. If one of these two goes off in a game its hard to stop the bleeding. Pick your poison GMs either way chances are you'll suffer 40 min.
7. Sacramento Kings (Defensive Rank- 1)
You won't hear a peep out of the Kings GM when he's losing but since he's winning he's more outspoken than Dan Gilbert. The Kings are some people's favorite to win the title while others feel he's a likely early exit. One thing is for sure the Kings won't go down quietly.
8. New Jersey Nets (Defensive Rank- 11)
The New Jersey Nets are definition of efficient. They don't turn over the basketball and they average the most FGA in the league which aids them to score the most PPG in the league. The downfall to the Nets is as a team they shoot < 70% from the FT line. If they could take advantage of the charity stripe than they'd for sure be hoisting the UOSLR Trophy at season's end.
9. Milwaukee Bucks (Defensive Rank- 9)
The Bucks are consistent. They don't overwhelm you in any one area but they are good everywhere. They are #2 in the league in FT% shooting over 80% and don't turn the ball over much either. They come in at #2 in the league with 10.9TOPG being one of 2 teams under 11 per game.
10. Houston Rockets (Defensive Rank- 7)
The Rockets have one one of the best scorers of all time teaching one of the best young players in the league. Ray Allen and Kevin Durant are quite the exciting duo and have propelled the Houston franchise to new heights.
11. Minnesota Timberwolves (Defensive Rank- 18)
The Timberwolves have the best scoring big man in the league, Amare Stoudemire and in my opinion the best distributing PG in the league in Sebastian Telfair.
12. Denver Nuggets (Defensive Rank- 12)
The Denver Nuggets have the best dancing team in the league with John Wall. They also have versatile scorers in Brandon Roy and Joe Johnson. Lets not forget about Elton Brand the forgotten All-Star PF.
13. Boston Celtics (Defensive Rank- 5)
How are the Boston Celtics so bad? They score efficiently and they stop their opponents. The Celtics might be the most underachieving team in UOSLR history.
14. New York Knicks (Defensive Rank- 15)
The New York Knicks are on the verge of becoming a dominant team with Perry Jones. Sean Williams and Blake Griffin lead the way up front along with Jones.
15. Utah Jazz (Defensive Rank- 14)
If Only they didn't turn the ball over every other possession....
16. Atlanta Hawks (Defensive Rank- 13)
The Hawks have been injury riddled but make no mistake when you have Deshawn Stevenson you always have a chance to win.
17. Toronto Raptors (Defensive Rank- 28)
The Raptors aren't a terrible scoring team. Dexter Pittman is one of the better scoring inside big men of the league. Saga hopes that Hayward will turn into a better scorer.
18. Los Angeles Clippers (Defensive Rank- 29)
The Clippers only check in here due to the fact they used to own Gilbert Arenas and Yao Ming now all they own is Danny Granger who they can't give away.
19. Cleveland Cavilers (Defensive Rank- 25)
Rudy Gay can cure a lot but he can't win all by himself.
T-20. Phoenix Suns (Defensive Rank- 22)
The Suns have been mediocre for some time. They come in tied with another mediocre team below.
T-20. Charlotte Hornets (Defensive Rank- 20)
They should come in much higher ranked next season with Evan Turner and Lebron James.
22. Miami Heat (Defensive Rank- 3)
It's too bad these guys can't score because if they could they would have went deep in the playoffs.
23. San Antonio Spurts (Defensive Rank- 19)
Terrance Williams is a nice complimentary player not the man like he is in San Antonio.
24. Golden State Warriors (Defensive Rank- 26)
This franchise keeps spinning its wheels in the mud. What happened to this once storied franchise?
25. Dallas Mavericks (Defensive Rank- 6)
Another team who struggles to put the ball in the hoop. 43% team shooting is atrocious.
26. Vancouver Grizzlies (Defensive Rank- 27)
These guys can be pretty good except they can't put the ball in the hoop efficiently.
27. Washington Bullets (Defensive Rank- 24)
The future is bright in DC but they are sitting in traffic in the tunnel right now.
28. Detroit Pistons (Defensive Rank- 23)
Fire this guy...
