1. Los Angeles Clippers - Kuran Iverson SF 6'10'' 225 21

After luckily winning the lotto, luckily moving up from 4th projected to first, the Los Angeles Clippers selected the swiss army knife small forward Kuran Iverson, drawing comparisons to Lamar Odom. At 6'10 Iverson has the ability to play just about every position on the court for at least extended minutes. I had Randle slotted in first overall but the Clippers opted for the Junior out of North Carolina. Kuran had one of the best first TCs out of all the rookies in this coming draft going up 3 grades overall, although his scoring not increasing is definitely a major concern. In the pre-season Kuran's scoring was actually pretty solid putting up double digits on 46%. Kuran's future definitely lies within those C+ scoring ratings.

Kuran was the first prospect on my draft list and for good reason, the highly touted 21 year old out of Oklahoma was considered by many the definite number 1, his game was extremely polishes, his offensive game was rock solid out of the draft and he had good rebounding as well, his defense was leaving some to be desired but his tremendous handle and awesome outside touch should have been enough to make him go first overall. However fate would have Kuran fall into the lap of Cavaliers GM Styro, who would then ship him off to San Antonio in hopes of making the playoffs for the coming year. Kuran went +2 in two key categories for a big man, and seems well on his way to being a really good player in UOSLR.
3. Chicago Bulls - Isaiah Austin C 7'2'' 220 22

I was really not a fan of this pick at all for the Bulls at 3. Austin just screams complimentary player to me, while there were still players who I envisioned as option scorers left on the board. What Austin does, he does very well, though his first TC does nothing to help his case to prove he was worth a top 3 pick, his defense and rebounding should be enough to help him get by. At 3 I definitely would have been taking a harder look at players like Amile and Shabazz.
4. Miami Heat - Shabazz Muhammad SF 6'6'' 210 22

Shabazz was one of my favourite looking prospects in this draft, though I have always had a soft spot for B- B- scoring in wing players. While his defense is a glaring weakness his handle is something, that to me at least, that almost makes up for it. In a clutch first TC Shabazz was able to overcome his C defense and get it up to C+. And while his inside went down 1, his outside went +2, if he had managed to keep that B- inside he would look so awesome. I loved this pick at the time, and his TC only makes the pick look even better.

I wasn't a fan of this pick, I like Goodluck for what he is but I don't think he should have been selected before Amile Jefferson at all. His C rebounding was enough to scare me off, if he can overcome that then he will become much more valuable to me, but his no change in TC is extremely concerning. At this point I am concerned he will become a bench big or just a player who gives you 3 blocks and not much else in 30 minutes, I think Amile looked so much better at 5.

I loved the Pistons (essentially Spurs) getting Amile at 6. B inside on a rookie big man pre-TC is awesome, and despite the fact he isn't a great shot blocker I think what he brings to the table, good interior scorer and solid rebounder, should have been enough to go top 5. Amile never got much of a chance in pre-season, hopefully the Spurs get him more minutes in the regular season because he looks really solid.
7. New Jersey Nets - Austin Charles Patch PG 5'11'' 175 19

This is another pickup I loved, the Patch is the best looking player in the entire draft under 20 years old, and was one of only a handful of players in the draft under 20 to begin with. Patch went up 2 in two key ratings, he went -1 in rebounding but at the PG position that isn't a major concern, he went +2 this TC as far as I am concerned. He looks poised to become an elite defender, his jumper is getting better already and his point guard skills will continue to progress, loved this pick for Nets, they definitely have a keeper.

Rasheed reminded me a lot of Shabazz but I think his size and tweener problem might have scared some teams off. Shabazz went up in outside in his first TC which is pretty big for him. His B- handle is nice but his turnovers will drive whoever has him in the future crazy. The Blazers will likely have to pump up his handles or commit to playing him at the 2 undersized, but his ratings look really solid right now and on that shit Blazers squad he is a favourite for the rookie of the year award.
9. New Jersey Nets - Khem Birch PF 6'9'' 215 22
B- C C- C+ C+ A
B- C C- B+
Khem looked mediocre at first glance but the Nets definitely saw something in him to take him 9th. A positional move to the 3 has done WONDERS for this kid out of Iowa, going up 3 ratings after the change and through TC, and also went up 1 in rebounding, for a total of +4 which is the best of all the rookies through their first TC. Khem still looks very raw, his outside shot is pretty bad for for a small forward but he isn't great defensively at the 4, it will be interesting to see how the Nets approach his development moving forward, whether they play him at the 3 or 4, or possibly even both.
10. Houston Rockets - Ricardo Ledo SG 6'5'' 190 22

Ledo is a solid looking shooting guard, I like Calhoun or LJ Rose at this pick but Ledo looked solid, after TC is definitely looks like they should have gone with Rose or Calhoun though. Nothing much to say about Ledo at this point, the Rockets are GMless so I don't even know if they made this pick themselves.

Rose looked really solid prior to TC, his outside shot is competent and his handle is alright, while his inside game is bad and his D is mediocre at best, you can't expect to draft someone in the late lotto without holes in their game. Through his first TC Rose went +1 in his handle, I liked Rose at 11 for the Celtics.

Omar had a HUGE TC for the Suns, this was a definite steal at the time, I think not having a scouting report or no one really talking about him might have scared teams off him, but after a solid scrimmage and really good pre-tc rookie ratings, the Suns were sold on the Florida University prospect. Now after TC the picks looks awesome, +4 is tied for the best TC of all the rookies, he looks like a great shooter and is already closing in on A- handling, not to mention his D went up to boot. All the most important ratings for a PG are B or higher for him, ballin for the Suns.

This was a solid pick for the Nets, Kaleb is a mediocre interior scorer but has a nice outside touch for a big (C), his defense obviously leaves a lot to be desired but after going +1 on rebounding with B+ there already, he looks like a solid role player in the making.

I didn't like this pick very much, I don't really see the point in drafting a 25 year old, even if he does become good you are re-signing him to his 2nd contract at 29 years old. Nicolo went +1 first TC and had A- outside which is solid and almost unexpected to me. Honestly at this point if he can continue to develop the other aspects of his game just a little bit (inside and defense) Nicolo could be a starter on a lot of teams in this league.

With Gathers, you knew what you were getting, a solid interior scorer who didn't bring much else to the table, and through TC nothing has changed as he went +1 and it was on his inside. Gather is somewhat undersized at the 4 but he looks like he will be a solid offensive big off the bench down the road.
16. Portland Trailblazers - Devonte Pollard SF 6'8'' 215 22

The Blazers selected Devonte Pollard, they took a chance on the kid who the least amount of minutes in the scrimmage, it seems there was a reason for his lack of minutes. Through his first TC he went down in defense and up in rebounding which is a pretty shitty/useless TC. The Blazers have a ton of mediocre wings they are trying to develop, so if Pollard is going to become something, t probably won't be in Portland.

This was kind of a random pick, Dequara has alright ratings and we love his size, but the dude is 25 years old. Players like Ochefu and Nino Jackson are players I liked a lot more for the Heat here.

Another exceptionally old prospect who didn't have the same kind of TC blessing that Don got in Washington, Joan has really nice ratings and if he is 2 years younger he is probably a lotto pick. The Wolves took a shot, and while the first TC obviously isn't the end all be all, the Wolves surely can't be impressed.

I liked Ochefu at 19 for the Clippers. B inside is nice for a big and the C outside is just a bonus. While his rebounding and defense leaves a lot to be desired, the B inside would be enough for me to take a chance on this kid, if he can continue to develop his inside game and work a bit on his defense and rebounding he could become a useful bench big.

Ladarius is a pretty intriguing late round pick. He is a slasher through and through, his outside game is pretty much just not there, I don't know what you hope for out of a player like this. I just don't really see a future for him unless he gets a shot, he is good at pretty much useless things for a guard and sucks at the important things (shooting and defense), his handle is nice but that isn't enough for him to have a bright future.

This was a really nice late round pick, I don't think anyone really took note of this kid at the time but a +3 TC can do a lot to make your future a ton brighter. He went up in key areas, all the offensive ratings went +1, while his defense is terrible, as long as he can continue to develop his offensive game he will be a really useful player at a late round pick.

Blazers took a chance on this kid, his outside went down in TC and his D went up, pretty lateral but the end result is the same, another mediocre wing prospect on a shitty Blazer team.

Unless I made a mistake, Nino is the first player thus far to actually go down in TC, and it really is a shame because I really liked this pick for the Cavs at the time. His B outside and B defense was really solid, combined with his C+ handle he looked rock solid at 23, but then he goes down in TC and his future seems bleek as can be. It is a shame because a +1 or +2 TC would have done wonders for this kid.

Bogdan was a cool looking prospect, he has sick offensive ratings but at 24 years old and no defense no one was really interested until the Hornets nabbed him. His outside went down and D went up, it really is a waste because he would have been better off going up in offense than defense, now he looks extremely mediocre for a 24 year old rookie.

Goodwin was a cool looking prospect to me, C+ B+ scoring is nice for a rookie at the 26th pick, his C+ defense isn't great but it is a hell of a lot better than C. He didn't go up in TC but he didn't go down either which is somewhat encouraging I guess.

Savon actually could be alright if he could play manage to become a PF, he doesn't have the skills offensively to play the 3, but his rebounding and inside scoring could make him a potentially useful if he could handle it defensively.

A +1 in defense isn't going to be enough to help crack the Bulls rotation this year, solid pick at 29 though since he is pretty good at most things, his lack of a jumper is concerning but his D and interior scoring could be useful in the future at the backup 3.
