State of the Franchise – Seattle Super Sonics
Here is as an overview of the Seattle Super Sonics. There place in UOSLR History and how their current roster and Gm situation measures up.
Current GM – Chipper – 6 of 10 years with 41 wins or playoffs.
Former GMs – Tmaczdaddy, HeatFlash
0 Championships in 1 Finals appearance over 27 UOSLR Seasons
Regular Season Record - 1227-987 = 45 wins per season
Playoff W-L Record – 111-118 in 21 appearances
FBB Win Rating – 82
Summary…
The Sonics have had a great regular season history. 45 wins a season on average is extremely impressive. What’s even more impressive is that they’ve had 3 Gms over 27 years, and all 3 have had there share of success. Current GM Chipper has 6 straight 50 win seasons. Unfortunately they don’t seem to even sniff the Finals. They’ve been once and lost. For a team with such amazing regular season success, their lack of playoff success is shocking.
Here is a look at their current roster…
546 Kris Humphries C 32 7'1'' 240 C+ B- D+ B A- C
489 Maurice Kirby C 22 6'10'' 240 B- C C- A- C+ B
500 Emeka Okafor PF 34 6'10'' 256 B- C- C- A- A- D
527 Perry Jones SF 26 6'11'' 230 A- A- C A B C
586 Omri Casspi SF 29 6'9'' 225 B- B C+ B C- B
438 Terrance Williams SG 30 6'6'' 220 B B+ B A- C C
550 James Harden SG 28 6'5'' 223 C A- C A- C- C
580 Jordan Burger SG 26 6'8'' 200 C+ B C- C C+ B
107 Donnell Coleman SG 23 6'2'' 175 C B- C C D+ D
574 Derrick Rose PG 28 6'5'' 204 A C+ B B C C
10 Shaun Livingston PG 32 6'7'' 200 B- C A B- C D
130 Sterling Gibbs PG 24 6'0'' 175 C C+ C+ C+ D+ C
The Sonics obviously have a very good roster. They are a playoff team again this year and they have perhaps the best player in the league in Perry Jones. Jones is an elite talent who can score, rebound and defend. Jones is coming off 2 consecutive years of 32 points and 8 rebounds. Hall of Fame type numbers for a small forward. The Sonics also have solid role players in Emeka Okafor and Derrick Rose. Okafor is a very good rebounder and shot blocker. Rose is a solid point guard that can score.
Once again they don’t look like a title contender overall. While Jones is elite, the rest of the roster isn’t. They need to get a 2nd scoring option behind Jones and find a post compliment to Okafor. Expect them to have regular season success and then get eliminated before the Conference Finals.
