The last 4 years have been pretty even overall, with for the first time a team who didn’t win the title being the biggest point gainer…Chippers Supersonics…followed closely by Detroit…gm’d by Heatflash. Meanwhile, Tigers Bulls were the worst team over the period. In the meantime, not team stood out or made a huge jump, the Bulls obviously fell behind the Pacers, but, the Grizzlies actually managed to extend their lead over the Pacers, making themselves very hard to catch. Probably the most pitiful Franchise since the first update has to be the Charlotte Hornets, who have gone from top three to 20th. I have continued to use the same formula as last time, and do not see myself changing it.
I gave teams
1 point for a regular season win
2 points for a playoff win
4 points for a Division Title
5 points for a playoff appearance
8 Points for a Conference Title (including the 4 for a Division Title)
10 points for a finals appearance
25 points for a title
That means a first round playoff appearance is worth 5-11 points (5 for the appearance + up to three wins at two points each) 2nd round is 13-19 points, Conference Championship 21-27, a Finals appearance is worth 39-45, and a title is worth 72 points, due to the wins. The most possible points in the regular season would be 90, and the most possible points in the playoffs 72. Without further hesitation, I present the overall Rankings.

- Of the Top 10 6 are from the East, 4 are from the West
- 4 of the Top 7 are Eastern Conference Teams
- Strongest conference? The East, with an average position of 14.4 as compared to 15.6 for the West
- Strongest Division? The Central Division in the East…With 4 of the top 7 teams in the power rankings, you better be strong if you are going to contend, teams in the Central averaged 13.6, weaker than the last time this ranking was done, but, the distance between the best and second best is larger than last . Runner up is the Atlantic, which made a large jump up to an average of 15.29, from last last time around, third is the Pacific at 15.43, and the rear is brought up by the Midwest at 15.86.
- The Atlantic is the 2nd best division despite not having any team above 9th..why? It has 6 teams between 9-17.
- The Detroit Pistons won a title, bringing themselves out of last, but even with their being the 2nd best team over the time period, they managed to climb only to 26th
- The worst two teams reside in the same conference, Dallas and Utah both are Midwest teams
- Chicago has won 5 division titles….and 5 conference titles, never having ended up second best in the conference, they have the highest number while doing this, however, 1 other team can claim the same 100% ratio: Cleveland (1-1)…both of those teams are in top heavy dominant divisions…actually to be precise, the same division.
- The Bulls have more Finals appearances than division titles…6 finals appearances to 5 division titles
- The Highest rated sub .500 team? The New Jersey Nets who retain a high ranking based off the franchise three titles, though, one of those titles occurred when the franchise was in Buffalo, and when the move to New Jersey occurred, the Nets lost rights to that title, but for this ranking, the franchise is counted as one entity.
- Most playoff appearances with no title? Seattle, with 22 appearances but no Championship…however, they did manage to make the finals in this period, meaning the Philadelphia 76ers take the role of most playoff appearances without a finals appearance at 20...they are also runner up in the most appearances without a Title to the Sonics obviously… The 76ers are runner up to them in both categories…of interest about that? Tmac has had two stints in the league, one with the Supersonics, and now with the 76ers.
- I am missing one years conference results it would appear, not sure which one, but, as it appears now, only 1 has not won a division or conference title…Utah….which just so happens to be ranked last. Denver, Detroit, and Dallas all managed to pick up at least a division title.
- 20th-29th place in the rankings: 14 division titles 7 conference titles…1st-10th place in the rankings: 65 Division Titles, 34 Conference Titles…says a lot…
- For Kru: Teams with one GM throughout the history of the league sit 2, 7, 12, 13, 16, 17, 23, 24
- Utah and Detroit are the last two last place teams….what do they have in common? Both were GM’d by Prince.
