A look at the lotto...
1. Utah Jazz - Kabongo Ngarakulondi SF 6'9'' 230 20
Before: B C C+ B+ C+ A
After: B+ C C+ A- C+ A
Kabongo is kinda killing it right now. Of course prince would get the top pick, how come I never get the top pick? so gay... Anyway, I didn't give this an A+ because Kabongo's TC wasn't super hot like Kirkwood (suck it). But still Kabongo is gonna rape in this league pretty soon. Let's just hope that offensive game never develops so he won't be too deadly.
Grade: A
2. New Jersey Nets - Brandon D. McBride SF 6'7'' 220 21
B- B C B C A
B+ B+ C B C A
He was basically my favorite player in the draft. Hopefully he's Xavier Henry version 2 and decides to retire a bit earlier than most players. His TC was really hot, and I already love his ratings. 20ppg as a rookie? lulz, gtfo.
Grade: A
3. Sacramento Kings - Octavius Jones SF 6'8'' 230 21
C C C A- A A
C C C- A- A A
A forward who can't block shots or score. Hmmm. His ratings are kinda sexy and different, but I think Jones is overrated here. If he's going to have A- defense and A rebounding, at least he could get a steal and a couple blocks + 12rpg. But right now, he's having some rookie roughens. Marty sucks at drafting, so no surprise here. Average at best.
Grade: C+
4. Los Angeles Lakers - Jaylin Fleming SG 6'4'' 195 20
C+ B- B+ C+ C- A
B- B A- C+ C- A
Loved his ratings, but his notes were a little meh. But then again, ashes notes are usually pretty random and play ends up bitching about it each year, so whatever. Fleming had a surprisingly strong TC, but I'm still not completely sold on him. He's got PG skills in a combo guards body. I have a feeling we'll see him shift to PG eventually.
Grade: B+
5. Atlanta Hawks - Aaron Johnson PG 6'2'' 175 20
C B- B- B D+ A
C B- B+ B D+ B
And I thought this dude would be better than Fleming. It's only one TC so far, but Johnson had an OK TC for a top 5 pick. He's still playing behind McCallum, which is probably for the best right now because of his average defense and unimpressive offensive skill set. I think Aaron could be a no name by the time he hits FA. I don't like this pick.
Grade: C
6. Boston Celtics - Wenyen Gabriel SF 6'10'' 225 20
C+ B+ D+ C+ C+ A
B- B+ D+ C+ B- A
The next Dirk, or the next Bargnani? It'll be Dirk, It's inevitable. Is it wrong btw that I didn't know who the Celtics GM was? Then I realized it was crazymike, then I started wondering if this was a CPU pick, then I remembered that thread about him being inactive. Then I remembered play sticking up for him last time he was getting fired, but now he's bashing him in that thread. Then I remembered this was a good pick, and gave it a grade..
Grade: B+
7. Minnesota Timberwolves - Victor Waters PF 6'10'' 230 20
C+ C+ D+ B C A
C+ C+ D B C+ A
BUST IN YOUR FACE, ahahahaha. But seriously, don't draft a dude with the first name Victor or the last name Waters, everyone knows that. Tough luck for the Timberpuppies here, but nothing to see so let's move on.
Grade: D+
8. Orlando Magic - Derek Lotts SG 6'7'' 205 20
B- C+ C- A- D+ A
B- C+ C A D+ A
An uneventful player on an uneventful team with an uneventful GM! This is a perfect fit. Lotts will be lost somewhere on the Magic roster and no one will ever remember him. In fact I accidentally almost referred to him as Ruben Patterson. In fact, despite his attractive defense, I hate this guy a lotts (lol).
Grade: C
9. Dallas Mavericks - Nicholas LaMonty PG 6'2'' 190 19
B C+ C+ B D A
B+ B- C+ A- D A
Well of course the guy I wanted most in this draft goes one pick before. Of course. Complete bullshit, LaMonty would have murdered in my offense, instead I get some homo big man who can't block shots and will probably bust in a few years. Watch this dude rape the crap out of the world. LaMonty is total sex.
Grade: A+
10. Houston Rockets - Michael Kirkwood C 7'0'' 250 21
B- D+ C- B C+ A
B C- C- B+ B- B
I kind of hate this guy even though he had an awesome first TC. I just feel like he's going to be like Andrew Bynum. I do like his scoring though. 12.2ppg in 19mpg? SHIET. Our inside offense is pretty fantastic, Kirkwood and company might help me get by my CY and that would be good enough for me.
Grade: A
11. Charlotte Hornets - DeQuan Taylor PF 6'10'' 225 21
B- C- C B- C+ A
B- C- C B C+ A
Didn't really like Taylor before the draft, still don't care for him that much. He can't score, he can't block shots, he can't rebound. A smooth move by Spencer to get a 16ppg 13rpg player like Wright who can block shots too. I think Taylor could end up with decent ratings, but he's not going to ever really produce. Bad pick, nice trade.
Grade: C
12. Cleveland Cavaliers - Patrick Lafleur C 6'11'' 240 18
C B+ C- B+ C+ B
C+ A- C- B+ B- A
I was shocked to see Lafluer this far down. Like honestly, Taylor, Lotts, and Fleming were all players I thought would be picked after him. Sure, Lafluer was a high risk pick, but with those starting ratings at that age, he MUST be a top 10 pick. Shit I even forgot I had Kirkwood at #4 on my list above him, wtf... Still early to tell if this is a good pick or not, but so far so good.
Grade: A-
13. Chicago Bulls - Roy De Jong SG 6'5'' 205 19
C A- C B- C A
C+ A- C B C A
Asian pride. Brandon Roy will dominate the world eventually. Just give him time to grow (n/h).
