Johnny Flax
6-3 197
UNLV - Senior
21 years old
10/28/00
Point Guard/Shooting Guard
Johnny Flax is from Anaheim where he was a High School All American at Canyon High School. Flax was also a McDonalds All-American. Johnny Flax is currently a senior at UNLV. Flax has started all 4 years averaging 22.8 PPG with 4.8 APG. Flax has been Mountain West 1st Team 3 straight years.
Strengths - Flax is extremely strong and quick. He has a great crossover dribble and loves to get to the basket and finish. His strength is the key to his finishing ability around the hoop. Flax is also a great mid range shooter. Not only can he pull up and make shots, he's also a great free throw shooter. He loves the ball in his hands and he isn't afraid to take shots to win the game. defensively he's a pest. Not only does his quickness and strength create problems for opposing point guards, but his exceptional length(6-6 wingspan) allows him to play the passing lanes well and create steals.
Weaknesses - Flax doesn't have much of an outside shot. His range is to about 17 feet, after that his offensive game is pretty limited. Flax also isn't a pure point guard. Hes much more of a scorer. he can set up his teammates, but he mostly looks for his own shots. Flax also tends to have a bit of a turnover problem. It isn't extreme, but some scouts think he should be a SG in the pros.
Overview - A great overall prospect that should go lotto and be a very good starter at either PG or SG.
