Boats on the Beach is one of Claude Monet’s Boats Paintings. Claude Monet would paint boats multiple times during his career, often showing them in the water, sails unfurled, reflections peeking out below. The artist must have wondered, however, what the bottom of these boats looked like as only the tops are visible when the boats set sail. People Paintings In "Boats on the Beach," Monet does explore the hidden portions of these boats as they rest on the sand. In the center of the image, two boats are overturned. The peaks are painted in brilliant blue and black, in vertical brushstrokes. This blue deepens to red and brown. Building Paintings A similar ship in similar colors is shown at the left of the canvas. In the center of the image, the shoreline bisects the canvas in half, lined with a row of colorful boats in orange, green and yellow. The sea at the rear of the canvas is green and choppy, frothing up onto the shore. Oil Paintings for sale This may explain why the boats are on the beach in the first place. While no human figures are visible, their presence is felt throughout this painting, with nets, pots and tools strewn around the boats. Famous Paintings At right, a building is shown using a striking amount of color. Bright green, yellow and red are all used as highlighting. "Boats on the Beach" is a colorful look at nautical life at rest, painted with flair.
