It is time…for…the greatest show on earth…with a twist
*I did this over two sims, so some stats may be a tad off.
Most Valuable Player: Etienne Preira, Guard, Chicago Bulls
-We actually have a solid race this year, and I decided to go with the guy who will be the underdog. He is a top 5 scorer, but lags behind the big 2 by around 2 ppg. However, Preira has a secret weapon…he has assists. That is right, Preira’s 7.8 apg will carry him into the winner’s circle. He can also rebound very well for a guard, so that can’t hurt. MJ, Nick Anderson, and the Mailman will all be behind him.
Who loves orange soda?
Defensive Player of the Year: Hakeem Olajuwon, Center, Houston Rockets
-Dream, Dream, Dream, Dream. Yep Dream wins another one. There are talks in the league office of changing the name from “Defensive Player of the Year” to “The Hakeem Olajuwon Trophy”. Yeah he is that good. Zo will be a contender, but Dream’s steals and the fact that he wins the award every year has to make him the favorite.
Dream Shake!
Rookie of the Year: Allen Iverson, Guard, Milwaukee Bucks
-There is a reason why the Bucks are doing better this year, and it isn’t Krup. The Bucks are lead by a rookie, and Iverson is producing. Yes McDyess and Hill are beasts, but it all starts with the point. Yes Iverson may be more of a combo guard with his scoring and lack of passing, yes he may take it to the hole more than some would like due to his lack of an outside game, yadda yadda yadda. The truth is in the answer (get it, I know I am a lyrical poet…and if any of you got that last one then word to your mother). Iverson is a thief with the ball and is a good scorer. He needs to develop into more a true pg with the Bucks having Hill and Ray Allen at their wing spots, but Iverson is producing for them. At the start of the season, most would have plugged Kobe into the rookie of the year spot. While the Heat are winning thanks to the mailman, Kobe is averaging a blistering 9.6 ppg. Damn son!
Practice!
All-League First Team
Center: Patrick Ewing, Center, San Antonio Spurs
-Chewing finally gets his award. Dream is having to share the ball too much as is D-Rob. This leaves Ewing to reap the rewards. Playing on the lowly Spurs, Ewing is a surprising 4th in ppg. He isn’t top 10 in rpg, but isn’t far behind. He is also on the top 10 list for bpg. While he may not be as big of a name as Dream or D-Rob, Ewing is the quite guy who is doing everything. Too bad he is on the Spurs.
Get Dunked On
Power Forward: Karl Malone, Forward, Miami Heat
-Yes he is the best power forward, blah blah blah. I am tired of writing about Malone. I have mentioned basically everything about him and nothing is changed. Instead of leading the Hawks/Hornets to wins, it is now the Heat. Maybe he will retire soon.
He had 8 brothers and sisters
Small Forward: Larry Johnson, Forward, Charlotte Bobcats
-To me, this is a 2 man race. The Round Mound v.s. LJ. I could say Barkley due to his rebounding, however LJ gets his fair share of boards as well. I will take LJ’s 5 more ppg over rpg and some better defensive stats.
Grandma
Shooting Guard: Etienne Preira, Guard, Chicago Bulls
-He is the MVP so he wins this award of course. Yes MJ and Nick Anderson are elf thigh and dry but apg will carry him to this award.
Point Guard: Sam Cassell, Guard, Atlanta Hawks
-He is a very good scoring pg and he is 2nd in apg. He is an average defensive point guard and his percentages are just okay, but outside of that he is studly. He doesn’t have any fluff ratings (aka speed, strength, so on) and goes for the cold hard facts.
Testicle Dance
All-Defensive First Team
Center: Hakeem Olajuwon, Center, Houston Rockets
-DPOTY wins here, no surprise.
Tacos
Power Forward: Shawn Bradley, Forward, Charlotte Hornets
-Do what? Yeah Bradley has been a surprising good shot blocker for the Hornets. Him and Zo are averaging almost 8 bpg between them, which is ridiculous. He can’t do anything else but block shots, but when you have someone like Zo next to you, you can only block shots and do great.
How about Earl Watson?
Small Forward: Clifford Robinson, Forward, Denver Nuggets
-The crafty veteran of this team does things well. He can shoot the long ball and is a menace defensively. 2.3 bpg and 0.7 spg means he can defender both the post and the perimeter. He doesn’t get much respect outside of Denver, maybe due to his lack of an offensive game, but every team needs a defensive stud on their team.
Butter fingers
Shooting Guard: Hershey Hawkins, Guard, Phoenix Suns
-Hawkins or Maxwell? Same apg, and one has .1 more bpg, so I went with him. That was only criteria.
When I think of Hershey Hawkins, I think of Hershey, when I think of Hershey I think of chocolate, when I think of chocolate, I think of Wonka
Point Guard: Muggsy Bogues, Guard, Charlotte Bobcats
-The Hornets have some stud defenders don’t they? I have finally realized what exactly Spencer is doing…he is building the Monstars! All he needs is Chewing and Barkley.
WTF?
