Although it is extremely earlier, there is no reason not to look ahead to the most anticipated UOSLR Draft in recent memory.
1. Denver Nuggets - LeBron James SF 6'8'' 240 18 B+ C+ B C+ C+ A
No brainer pick here for Denver. Everyone wants LeBron James. He will be an absolute stud. Big time player that can play anywhere from 1-4. James should be a 20 PPG guy as a rookie and a 30-5-5 guy within 3 years. Add him to an already studly Deshawn Stevenson and the Nuggets future is extremely bright.
Projected 2003 Lineup
Marcus Fizer C 23 6'8'' 253 B- C D+ A- C+ B
LeBron James SF 6'8'' 240 18 B+ C+ B C+ C+ A
DeShawn Stevenson SF 20 6'6'' 217 B B+ B+ A- C A
Caron Butler SF 22 6'7'' 238 B B- C B+ C+ A
Earl Watson PG 23 6'1'' 195 C B- B+ A- C B
2. Vancouver Grizzlies - Dwayne Wade SG 6'5'' 210 21 B C+ C+ B+ C A
Grizzlies will only be disappointed for a second if they don't land LeBron James because the runner up prize is Dwyane Wade. Wade isn't the physical specimen that James is but few are. What Wade can do is score. He has the uncanny ability to get to the basket and find the bottom of the bucket. Wade is also a very good defender already and will start at 1 or 2 for the Grizz from opening night.
Projected 2003 Lineup
Andrei Kirilenko SF 21 6'9'' 206 B- C+ C+ A- C+ A
Dwayne Wade SG 6'5'' 210 21 B C+ C+ B+ C A
Juan Carlos Navarro SG 22 6'3'' 174 C+ B+ B- C+ D+ A
Carlos Arroyo PG 23 6'2'' 204 C B B- B- C- B
3. Los Angeles Lakers - Carmelo Anthony SF 6'8'' 220 19 B B- C C+ B- A
The Lakers have a nice young core set up, now they need a go to scorer. Carmelo Anthony is just that. Not an elite defender, Anthony has the ability to be a plus scorer and rebounder from the SF spot. Expect him to be a 20 PPG guy as a rookie with the ability to grow into a 28-30 PPG guy.
Projected 2003 Lineup
Pau Gasol PF 22 7'0'' 231 B C C B- B- A
Zach Randolph PF 21 6'9'' 270 B- C D C+ B B
Carmelo Anthony SF 6'8'' 220 19 B B- C C+ B- A
Ricky Davis SG 22 6'7'' 203 B+ B C- C+ C B
Rafer Alston PG 25 6'2'' 175 C B A- A- D C
4. San Antonio Spurs (from the Washington Bullets) - Chris Bosh PF 6'10'' 210 19 B- C C- B- B- A
The Spurs have a couple of very nice looking lotto picks they can put around Shaquille O'Neal. With this pick they get Chris Bosh who is a talented young big man with huge upside. Bosh is a little raw, but he has amazing athletic ability and a desire to be better. Eventually Chris Bosh should be a 20-10 guy and a very good defender.
Projected 2003 Lineup
Shaquille O'Neal C 30 7'1'' 320 A D+ C+ A+ A C
Kenyon Martin PF 25 6'9'' 230 B+ C C B+ B C
Chris Bosh PF 6'10'' 210 19 B- C C- B- B- A
Larry Hughes PG 23 6'5'' 187 B- B B+ A C- B
Mo Williams PG 19 6'3'' 188 C A- C+ B- C- A
5. Charlotte Hornets - Chris Kaman C 7'0'' 255 21 B- C D C+ B A
The Hornets are obviously disappointed to drop out of the top 4, but they get a solid center prospect here in Chris Kaman. Kaman is a very good rebounder, and a solid low post scorer. While he probably doesn't have the upside of the top 4, he should be a 15-10 center which isn't so bad for the rebuilding Hornets.
Projected 2003 Lineup
Chris Kaman C 7'0'' 255 21 B- C D C+ B A
Udonis Haslem PF 22 6'8'' 234 B- C- C- B- B- C
Rasual Butler SF 23 6'7'' 205 C A- C- C+ C+ B
Raja Bell SF 25 6'5'' 206 C A- C B+ C- C
Smush Parker PG 25 6'4'' 190 B C+ B B- C- C
6. Indiana Pacers - Darko Milicic PF 7'0'' 245 18 B- C- C- B- C+ A
The Pacers have some pretty talented small players but they could really use a better young big. In Darko Milicic they get a raw player with some intriguing abilities. A good athlete, Milicic can play a little defense and shows some promise on offense. Definately a question mark, but his upside could make him worth the selection here.
Projected 2003 Lineup
Darko Milicic PF 7'0'' 245 18 B- C- C- B- C+ A
Drew Gooden C 20 6'10'' 230 C+ C D+ B B B
Ronnie Fields SF 25 6'4'' 209 B- A- B- A- C+ D
Jason Terry PG 24 6'2'' 178 C+ A- A- C C C
Jamaal Tinsley PG 24 6'3'' 187 C+ C+ A- B+ C B
7. Phoenix Suns(from the Seattle SuperSonics) - Kirk Hinrich PG 6'3'' 190 22 C B+ C+ B C- A
The Suns already have a pretty nice PG in Andre Miller but he is a Free Agent and Kirk Hinrich is a very good looking prospect. Hinrich is a very nice shooter and an above average defender. For the Suns, in the long run Hinrich might be a better option then Miller.
Projected 2003 Lineup
Clifford Rozier C 29 6'11'' 255 B C- C B+ A C
Eddy Curry C 19 7'0'' 292 A- C- D B- B- A
Jamal Mashburn SF 29 6'8'' 242 B+ B C A B- C
Manu Ginobili SG 25 6'6'' 212 B- A- C+ B- C B
Kirk Hinrich PG 6'3'' 190 22 C B+ C+ B C- A
8. Minnesota Timberwolves - David West PF 6'9'' 240 22 B C C- B+ B B
The Wolves have some talented young players, none of which play PF. West does, so he's a good fit. A very solid defender and inside scorer, West should be a 15-10 type player even as a rookie. Now if the Wolves can just get a center.
Projected 2003 Lineup
Al Harrington SF 22 6'9'' 250 B B- C- B+ C+ A
David West PF 6'9'' 240 22 B C C- B+ B B
Mike Dunleavy Jr. SF 21 6'9'' 221 C+ B+ C B- C+ B
Michael Redd SG 22 6'6'' 215 C+ A- C- C+ C C
Stephon Marbury PG 25 6'2'' 180 C+ B A- A- D+ B
9. Toronto Raptors - T.J. Ford PG 6'0'' 165 20 B- C B- B- C- A
The Raptors are actually kinda overloaded at PG, but they cant pass on T.J. Ford here. Ford is a very good looking prospect with speed to burn. A super passer who uses his amazing quickness to drive to the basket. Ford also uses his quickness on defense and is a decent defender despite his lack of size.
Projected 2003 Lineup
Nene Hilario C 19 7'0'' 264 B- C C- B+ B+ A
Carlos Boozer PF 20 6'10'' 260 B C C- B B- A

10. San Antonio Spurs (from the Utah Jazz) - Mickael Pietrus SG 6'6'' 200 21 C+ B- C B C- A
The Spurs get to add some more young talent to their roster. Here they get more of a role player in Mickeal Pietrus. Pietrus is limited offensively but he can shoot the 3 and he is a solid defender. A good athlete, Pietrus could be a solid 5th starter for the Spurs.
Projected 2003 Lineup
Shaquille O'Neal C 30 7'1'' 320 A D+ C+ A+ A C
Kenyon Martin PF 25 6'9'' 230 B+ C C B+ B C

Mo Williams PG 19 6'3'' 188 C A- C+ B- C- A
11. Boston Celtics - Boris Diaw SF 6'8'' 203 21 C C+ C+ B- C+ A
The Celtics already have a couple of good young wings, but they like Diaw because of his flexibility. Diaw can play 1-4 and brings an uncanny ability to find open players on offense. A good ball handler and passer, Diaw should give opposing teams problems from numerous positions.
Projected 2003 Lineup
Jerome James C 26 7'0'' 315 C+ D+ C- B- B+ B

13. Utah Jazz (from the New Jersey Nets) - Nick Collison PF 6'10'' 255 22 C+ C C- C+ B+ B
The Jazz get a solid rebounder here in Nick Collison. If Collison doesn't improve in the pros he'll be a very solid backup who can board. if he does improve, he could become a double digit rebounder and scorer who is a solid starter. Seems like a good risk.
