16. Denver Nuggets - Ryan Gomes SF 6'7'' 250 22 B- C D+ B+ B- B
This is actually a solid pick-up for the Nuggets. He will never replace Deshawn Stevenson but Gomes is one of those do it all guys that give those contending teams an extra edge. It wouldn't be surprising to see Gomes one day pick up a 6th man of the year award. I can see him being a poor man's Lamar Odom.
Draft Rating:B
17. Portland Trailblazers - Nate Robinson PG 5'9'' 180 21 B C+ C C+ D+ A
The Trailblazers just need to draft players with the most value at this point of the game and they do so here with Nate. Nate is not your typical PG and he is incredibily undersized for the SG position at just 5'9". Nate's incredible strength and leaping ability allow him to play above and beyond his abilities. Nate has the potential to be that guy coming off the bench that can occasionally put up 30 points at any given time, but other than that he is a liability defensively and has poor handling ability.
Draft Grade: C+
18. Golden State - C.J. Miles SG 6'6'' 210 18 B- C C- C+ C- A
Golden State when with pure potential here and drafted youngster C.J. Miles with the 18th pick here. The Warriors in the process of rebuilding already have a nice young trio of Tyson Chandler, Joe Johnson, and number 1 draft pick in the 2005 draft Deron Wiliams. C.J. Miles will have the benefit of playing behind Joe Johnson in the line-up and with the right training could potentially be a starter in UOSLR. He's a high risk high reward player, but at 18 the risk isn't as big.
Draft Grade: B
19. Cleveland Cavaliers - Randolph Morris PF 6'11'' 275 19 B C- D C C+ A
Much like C.J. Miles before him, the Cavaliers take one of the highest potential guys in Randolph Morris. Morris at just 19 years of age will be a project player. Some question Morris' ability to get better but in the same case as Miles. Morris will have time to develop alongside Chris Bosh. The two could be starting in another season or two. I like Morris' potential can't go wrong with potential at this point.
Draft Grade:B
20. Indiana Pacers - Jarrett Jack PG 6'3'' 202 21 C+ B- C+ B- C- B
21. Indiana Pacers - Amir Johnson PF 6'9'' 210 18 C+ C- D B- B- B
The Indiana Pacers cap off a great 1st round draft by taking Jarrett Jack with the 20th pick and Amir Johnson with the 21st pick. Jarret Jack should be able to come in and provide productive minutes for the Pacers while Amir Johnson is a nice project player who could develop into a force on defense and on the glass. I like the pick of Jarrett Jack more so than Amir who I feel probably didn't deserve to go until the end of the 1st round so the draft grade goes from a B to a B-, the Pacers can live with 3 great picks and 1 mediocre one.
Draft Grade: B-
22. New Jersey Nets - Julius Hodge SG 6'7'' 210 21 B- C C+ C+ C+ B
The Nets take Julius Hodge with the 22nd pick in the draft. A questionable pick many scouts had Hodge going in the 2nd round. Hodge doesn't seem to have the potential to ever be a consistent starter in this league and does not excel at any position, a poor draft choice by the New Jersey Nets.
Draft Grade: D+
23. Dallas Mavericks - Kelenna Azubuike SG 6'5'' 220 21 C+ B- C- B C B
A very solid pickup for the Mavericks, Azubuike could become a solid role player and a defensive specialist in the mold of Shane Battier. Azubuike has the ability to play at the 2 or the 3 position and with the #23 pick the Mavericks get a solid contributor for their team.
Draft Grade: B
24. Orlando Magic - Hakim Warrick PF 6'9'' 219 22 B- C- C- B- C A
The Orlando Magic have the benefit of already having an extremely talent team all-around so they go with Hakim Warrick with the highest potential. Warrick's athletic ability is sky high and many scouts believe so is his potential. Warrick's motivation though is questionable but with the 24th pick in the draft and no holes to speak of the Orlando Magic can live with this draft pick.
Draft Grade: B-
25. Cleveland Cavaliers - Martynas Andriuskevicius C 7'2'' 240 19 C+ C D C+ C+ A
The Cavaliers take Andriuskevicius the epitome of a "project player." Martynas just starting playing basketball 2 years ago but has been developing nicely. The Cavaliers can't afford to be drafting project players at this point. Do not like this pick at all.
Draft Grade: D
26. Los Angeles Clippers - Jose Calderon PG 6'3'' 210 23 C C+ B+ C D+ A
The Clippers come up with potentially the steal of the draft. Jose Calderon could eventually become a starter in this league and be a solid contributor to their team. With the 26th pick in the draft and an already competitive team Calderon will come in right away and contribute to the Clippers. Calderon's lack of defense hurts but he's a floor general with a ton of experience and is ready to play now. Great pickup for any contending team.
Draft Grade: B+
27. Boston Celtics - Raymond Felton PG 6'1'' 198 21 C+ B- B- C C- B
The Boston Celtics need all the talent they can get so they go with UOSLR Ready Felton here. Felton's upside is extremely limited but at least you know what you will be getting from him day in and day out. A decent value with the 27th pick in the draft.
Draft Grade: B-
28. Portland Trailblazers - Will Bynum PG 6'0'' 185 22 B- B- C C D+ B
Much like the Celtics, Trailblazers need talent so the pick of Will Bynum here is questionable. Bynum is one of those combo guards that is to small for the shooting guard position and does not have the skill set to required to be run a team at the point guard position. Having very limited upside also hurts his case here.
Draft Grade: C
29. Chicago Bulls - Ronny Turiaf PF 6'10'' 250 22 C+ C- D- B- B- B
The Chicago Bulls, one of the most dominant franchises in UOSLR history are at a time where their stars are aging and they need to start bringing in new faces. Chicago refuses to get younger though so they take Ronny Turiaf with the 29th pick here. Turiaf with very limited upside and no offensive game to speak of will be ready to contribute right away from the Bulls. The Bulls are hoping for at least one more run with all-world player Etienne Preira leading the way but how much more does the 32 year old have left to give to his team? Many are saying the time is now to trade Preira but Bulls management refuses to part ways with the star. The Bulls are looking to go down in glory but many are predicting the Bulls to go down in a ball of flames. Either way, Turiaf is a solid pick at the end of the 1st round.

Indiana Pacers: Overall Grade: B+
Draft Picks:
2. Indiana Pacers - Carmelo Anthony SF 6'8'' 225 22 B+ B+ C B- B C
10. Indiana Pacers - Randy Foye PG 6'4'' 212 21 C+ C+ B- B- C A
20. Indiana Pacers - Jarrett Jack PG 6'3'' 202 21 C+ B- C+ B- C- B
21. Indiana Pacers - Amir Johnson PF 6'9'' 210 18 C+ C- D B- B- B
Notes: The Pacers have Carmelo fall right into their laps with the #2 pick, draft Randy Foye with the #10 pick who could become a very good combo guard in this league, UOSLR ready players Jarret Jack and potential defensive project player Amir Johnson with the 20th and 21st picks respectively. A solid all-around draft for the rebuilding Pacers.

Utah Jazz: Overall Grade: D
4. Utah Jazz -Andris Biedrins C 6'11'' 240 20 C+ D+ D B B- A
Notes: Andris Biedrins taken with the #4 pick was a surprise here. Biedrins who many scouts believe will never be able to develop his offensive game is still light years away from being able to contribute to a team. The Jazz who now have 3 straight losing seasons, may be in their Contract Year next season if they do not win 40 or do not make the playoffs which seems extremely likely.
Most likely to be the steal of the draft:[/u]
(Based off of draft position and value)
26. Los Angeles Clippers - Jose Calderon PG 6'3'' 210 23 C C+ B+ C D+ A
Notes: With the 26th pick drafting a guy who could eventually becoming a starting PG in this league is phenomenal. I think Mike with the proper RCing and a little luck with TCs could really have a PG of the future here.

(Based off of draft position and value)
4. Utah Jazz -Andris Biedrins C 6'11'' 240 20 C+ D+ D B B- A
Notes: Being the #4 pick in the draft you're expected to at least be an All-Star at some point in your career. I don't think Biedrins possesses the talent to do so and will probably end up becoming a bust in the future.
This is actually a solid pick-up for the Nuggets. He will never replace Deshawn Stevenson but Gomes is one of those do it all guys that give those contending teams an extra edge.
