Welcome to the fourth UOSLR Tiger’s Den. The Den returns after a little hiatus, but in a familiar format – insight into people’s teams and their plans, followed by thoughts on players and the league in general, ending with a silly question for fun. And, as usual I’ve added in my own comments here or there too.
Thanks to Jedi, ib4, Don, Deebs, Martinez and Krup for their responses.
Without further ado, here it is!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) How do you feel about the state of your team at the moment?
JediSkyWalker
I feel like this past season has been very unproductive. I came into the season, unknown whether I should put all my marbles in and compete or rebuild, and that's probably what hurt me the most. My lack of direction led to me keeping a few players longer than I should have and when I had offers for certain players I should have immediately pulled the trigger. Right now, I'm eager for the lottery and hope my pick remains top 2 so I can start this rebuild in the right direction, anything outside of that I feel is a fail. So, right now, I feel sad about the team. The only piece that draws any interest, if any at all, is Marvin Williams. We haven't really gotten a legit offer for him, though.
ib4
Right now I'm mad that we suffered a tough game 7 loss and an early first round exit, but it was good to get Boston back in the playoffs. Got a decent mix of youngsters and vets, but there is obviously room for improvement.
donatello2424
Fairly confident. I feel we are a very good team. Ray Allen is locked up long term and while he is getting older, he can still perform. Chris Paul is a great young point guard who isn’t even close to reaching his potential. I am a bit worried with some expiring contracts coming up such as Mihm, T-Mac, and Brand, but I hold hope that I can bring them back and continue to try and improve my team.
DBW
Not too great. I’m happy that we’ve won a lot of regular season games over the years. The Lakers were the worst franchise in UOSLR history when I took them over. Through the luck of having the #1 overall in the LeBron draft and some well calculated moves for studs, the Lakers are now over .500 historically. With that being said I’m not happy that we have accumulated all of these wins and only have a finals appearance to show for it. We keep getting spanked in the first round and it almost wants to make a playa cry. I’ve been making my deals with only the vision of the talent in my starting line-up in mind as opposed to trying to build a cohesive team and I think that has killed us in the post season. That, and a few radical depth charts that failed miserably but I don’t mind that as it is all in fun. Anyway, that is why I shipped off Shaq two seasons ago and Jermaine O’Neal this past season. I’m trying to retool this team with a vision in mind instead of just getting any player I deem good. But yea... we aren’t very good right now.
Marty
I think I’m in decent shape, I had a bad year but Sheed was out for most of the season and I dealt Gasol and Parker for expiring contracts and the younger Iguodala who is right now sitting at A- A- in scoring with A- defense which is terrific. I’m set for a top 10 pick in this year’s draft and I will have some cap relief with a few expiring contracts. I will still have two cornerstone pieces available at my disposal in Iguodala and Dajuan Wagner. Wagner has been on the trade block for most of this season and will be on the trade more than likely in the off-season but his value may jump depending on Wallace’s retirement(if he does not retire I may look at keeping Wagner) and depends on who I get in this year’s draft.
Kruwaukee
The Bucks are delaying the process of rebuilding because the conference is so weak right now it wold be very hard to tank. So the Bucks have acquired a number of picks from other franchises in the hopes they can continue to win while acquiring top tier talent. I wouldn't exactly call my situation ideal because I hate being mediocre however the time to unload my superstars was the right time and I've been making the most out of the talent I have. Donyell Marshall is still a very serviceable player but we're hoping he hangs it up. It would be pretty cool if we could offer him a buy-out to retire early.
Tigertecz: I like how my Bulls are shaping up. Since we moved Preira we haven’t been competitive and rebuilt slowly. After adding Big Al in FA though, we have a real stud and young centerpiece to build around, after having a few unsuccessful seasons building round JJ. We drafted Yi Jianlian, Thaddeus Young and Blake Giffin, who I think will all be great starters, but the latter two were traded for DeShawn Stevenson, pairing him with his former team mate in Al Jeff. We then drafted big dunker DeMar DeRozan in the first round, and the best shooter in the draft in Marcus Thornton in the second round. I think both players are great actually and Thornton was a steal. So we’re set up with a load of youth right now with veterans in JJ and DSS still on the right side of 30. I think we’re set up well now for another run soon… DeRozan‘s time in Chicago is coming to an end though…
2) What does the future hold for your team? What's your plan for the next 3-5 seasons?
JediSkyWalker
Well, I'm in a very tough situation for my 2nd run at UOSLR. I don't have my first in 2011 which is right in the middle of my contract year as well as my rebuilding process. I'm not sure that I can turn around this franchise so quickly (in 2 years) and compete so soon. At this rate, I have a lot of work to do. We'll probably be competitive in 3-4 years and these first 2 years are definitely going to be uneventful, if anything, disappointing. If we do remain a top 2 pick this year, I think we're going to get the real deal for our future. Turner, Westbrook, and Favors all look really good and they're very young. Hopefully at least 2 of them remain in the draft.
ib4
The future is Derrick Rose and LaMarcus Aldridge. The rest of my team are oldies, and I see the DR/LMA duo to step up in the coming years. Also have a lot of capspace this offseason, so some FA's might want to join this young nucleus.
donatello2424
Very shaky future. Ray will likely be gone. T-Mac and Brand are up in the air as to whether or not they will be here for the long term. The only mainstay (I hope) is Paul, but even he can’t carry my team without support. I might try and retool with Paul as my main piece and if I have a decent player with my pick next year, but after this year I am just hoping that I can continue to be a very good team. I just came off rebuilding but I might have to rebuild again in the near future once I have my picks and try from there.
DBW
The future does not look good for the Lake Show. I have LeBron and he’s still young but after him I have nothing else worthy of keeping. I know people will probably flame me as having a 24 year old LeBron isn’t exactly an unfortunate situation. My pessimism stems from our post season play thus far. As the talent on my team slowly diminishes, it is getting harder and harder to envision post season success. I have been in some talks for guys that I think could push the scale in my favor as far as best Western team, but if those fall through then I could be in trouble. As I mentioned in the 1st question, I’m trying to retool and build a team that actually fits together. That would be my plan for the next 3-5 seasons. However if we continue this trend of winning 55+ and getting smashed in the 1st round, that plan would change dramatically. I could see myself possibly trading LeBron. Hell I’d trade LeBron right now if someone came correct in an offer. I’m not putting up a front. I’m not afraid to make big deals. Scream at me.
Marty
I am just going to go ahead and answer question number two as well. My plan for the next 3-5 season is obviously to compete. I’m going to take this season as a wash. I’m in no danger of being a perennial bottom dweller my two best players are still fairly young and can still improve tremendously come this offseason in both Andre Iguodala and Dajuan Wagner 571 Andre Iguodala SG 24 6'6'' 213 A- A- C+ A- C B 178 Dajuan Wagner SG 25 6'5'' 218 B- A- A- A- C- C both are very young under 25 and are tops at their position both are very versatily players Wagner being able to play the 1 positon to the 3 and Iguodala being able to play thre 2 or the 3. I think if Sheed retires I will be able to surround them with better talent. I need to take advantage of their age and ratings now before it’s to late and I think I will be able to accomplish that my biggest problem was fielding a true starting 5 squad. Clearing cap space and getting younger will truly allow me to do that and do it right. I learned my mistake with trading for such a huge and horrendous contract like Sheed’s even if he did produce and give me good stats for many many years. It is still a tremendous burden if it doesn’t pay off with a championship I’m still happy with the run my team had reaching the Western Conf finals twice, last season’s being my most incredible run being the 6th or 7th seed and upsetting the Lakers and then almost taking the Grizz to 7 games. I think the future is very bright for Sacramento and it can only go up from here I think Iguodala can be a top 3 scorer in the league very very soon.
Kruwaukee
The future is a bit murky with the Bucks not going into full rebuild move and living in the land of mediocrity. I’m hoping that with some of the acquired draft picks will fall into high lotto picks which will avoid any type of rebuild and will allow the Bucks to simply retool and keep on their winning ways. If this doesn’t happen over the next two years than the Bucks will completely tear everything down again and restart from scratch.
Tigertecz: I think we’ll be competitive in the next 3-5 seasons. I expect us to be in the Playoffs sooner rather than later, and the next trade I make will be to ensure that. With Al Jeff and DSS together again, we’re not short on superstar talent, but players like JJ, Jianlian and incoming players are more than just a talented supporting cast. Things should be fun for the Bulls again in UOSLR soon. We want that fifth star!!
3) If you could swap teams with any other in the league, which would you take and why?
JediSkyWalker
I'm not 100% familiar with the league yet, but just skimming around, definitely DBW's Los Angeles Laker. LeBron is probably not even in his prime yet but looks like he's capable of winning multiple MVP awards. He has a young Al Horford and Sean Williams who both look pretty solid. Throw in the veterans, Kandiman, Jones and Billups, and you get the real deal. DBW has a great mix of veteran/youth and has proven success. Not to mention Antoine Walker is on that roster
ib4
I would have to say the Magic, because of the plethora of talent. Or the Grizzlies, who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to coach the MVP, wade, Duncan, Frankie Oberto....
donatello2424
The Pacers. They have a great balance on their team. They have great outside scorers who can defend, but also some solid inside threats so a team can’t just beat them by shutting down their perimeter guys. Darko is a beast shot blocker and rebounder, and their guys resign cheaply. Who wouldn’t love that?
DBW
I’d probably take over the Spurs. Their starting line up is as good as it gets. Camby is old and on a rough deal but there aren’t many big men that can get you 10+ boards and nearly 4 blocks a game. Millsap is probably the 2nd best big behind Amare if you consider age, that steal of a contract and his amazing efficiency. Dirk Nowitzki is just flat out dominant at the 3… ask LeBron about that match up. The fact that he pulls down 10+ boards a game from the 3 also seems to be overlooked around the league. He is easily a top 5 player in my book. Then you have Manu Ginobli and Devin Harris in the backcourt… They most likely would have won it all if Manu was healthy and the fact that they were able to reach the Western Conference Finals without him is a testament to just how talented that team is.
Marty
Deja-Vu? I wouldn’t swap with any team having these two players Andre Iguodala SG 24 6'6'' 213 A- A- C+ A- C B 178 Dajuan Wagner SG 25 6'5'' 218 B- A- A- A- C- C both are very young under 25 both 25 under and a top 10 pick in this year’s draft makes to be a lot of fun. I think I can get a good defensive power forward or a good floor general with my pick being able to give me my balanced attack that I desperately need. If I could even snatch a 3rd big time scorer in this year’s draft I would be extremely happy as well I actually like the upcoming draft and think it will be great. Who wouldn’t love to have Iguodala and Wagner on the same team? Both are signed to reasonable contracts as well and both have fairly decent potential left. Most players don’t hit their prime until 27-28 so I firmly believe their best years are still to come. I’m really excited about next season and which is why I would not swap my team with any team out there.
Kruwaukee
Would definitely switch with the Lakers because I’d want to show the faithful fans in Hollywood what a championship feels like instead of ch-ch-choking in the playoffs each and every season. Lebron deserves to win his first ring and put himself at that elite level. It’s funny how Melo and Wade have won one before the king.
Tigertecz: I’d take the Grizzlies. As much as I love LeBron and the Lakers, and Redd with the Pacers… I love Etienne too much… lol. Wade and Duncan ain’t too shabby as other cornerpieces either, and I think the reigning champs should still be in the frame for more titles in the next few years. Csdude has built another nice team.
4) Who is the best player in the league at this moment in time right now, Who comes close to him, and what makes him better than the others?
JediSkyWalker
Ratings wise, LeBron James. Performance wise, Etienne Preira. If LBJ played PG, I bet he'd average a triple-double and shut down opposing PG. He has the size, quickness and physical advantage and could just totally remove opposing PG, which IMO is the most important position in FBB sim leagues. I guess the only downfall compared to Preira is his lack of BPG. Preira's statline is impressive, especially his 2.6 SPG and 1.6 BPG. When a player wins MVP, all-league first team and all-defensive first team, you know FBB loves him. Not to mention he has a chance to lead the Grizzlies to another title.
ib4
Preira. For the obvious reasons. MVP of the decade. Who comes close? LeBron probably. But Preira has set the bar with his dominance, and he has shown to dominate playing multiple positions (wasn't he MVP one year playing PF too?)
donatello2424
Lebron. He is just a freak of nature. He has a chance to have A-‘s straight across the board. He can probably play any position on the court and is ridiculous. He averaged 27 ppg, 10 rpg, 5.6 apg, and over 2 spg. Who does that? He isn’t a great shot blocker but he could be great at either guard position or small forward. Ridiculous. I think a close 2nd would probably still be EP. He is still a great player who can do it all. He and shown he can score, rebound, dish the ball, and play lock down defense. In his prime he is what Lebron plus he could block shots. Outstanding.
DBW
Amare Stoudemire is the best player in the game right now and is the true MVP of the season to me. Preira was great this year and is close to Amare. However, Preira winning the MVP award this year just goes to show the bias this game has towards him… I mean... towards point guards. Players like Nowitzki, Wade, James and Redd are also close to Amare I guess, but the fact that he averaged 35 points and 12 rebounds along with 2 blocks makes him a clear choice over the others. I’ve never seen numbers like that before. I guess the argument against Amare would be that the Knicks aren’t a very good team. I would argue that you can’t write off numbers as huge as those.
Marty
Lebron James 507 LeBron James SF 23 6'9'' 252 A- B+ A- A- A- B, baed on age ratings and production he’s the best player out there his only knack just like in real life is that HE WILL NEVER WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP yes I said it! Book it, Lebron James will never win a championship in UOSLR or in the NBA unless he goes to the Knicks or he comes to the Kings in UOSLR. No one comes close to Lebron he does everything and anything. He produces in every statistical category possible. Only Preira can ever be mentioned as being as good if not better than Lebron. I would even call Preira being better because Preira is a winner, LeBron is a loser. Unles LeBron plans on leaving town he will never secure a championship so he needs to leave and leave soon.
Kruwaukee
I think that most would say Lebron however there is a bigger and better guy out. He plays for the Italian owner Dan Baseon who says, “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie that’s AMARE!” That right Amare Stoudemire had one of the most dominating seasons this league has seen in a long time. The big man is scoring at alarming rates with very high efficiency. He’s making his FT, stealing, blocking, and rebounding the basketball in addition to scoring a league high 35ppg.
Tigertecz: I think the top players in the league right now are LeBron, Amare, Wade and Redd. Etienne’s also up there still but I was actually surprised he won MVP this season as Wade is playing just as well. The best of the lot though is LeBron imo, because he can do so much across the floor. Amare is the most dominant scorer, but he’s not as multi-dimensional as Bron.
5) Hakeem Olajuwon dominated UOSLR in its early days, and then Etienne Preira dominated the league for the last decade. Which player will be next to take over the league and win multiple MVP awards?
JediSkyWalker
I touched on this briefly in my above statement. I honestly think if LBJ is played at PG like Preira, he could win the next decade of MVPs. He's only 23, has the ratings, and is putting up great numbers. It's insane to see a player that has A- handling AND a- rebounding at the same time... to add his offensive and defensive ability to the picture is just insane. LBJ could put up stats better than Preira... now that's scary.
ib4
If it's not LeBron, it'll be some SF/SG playing PG, as it has been. I don't know if a big man will win MVP awards any time soon, given the difference of talent level (and increased ratings) since this league started in the early 90's when Dream was dominating.
donatello2424
I do think it will be LeBron. His stat line shows it all. He is a great scorer, he can rebound the ball, and he can dish it and play great defense. Once EP retires I think LeBron will be a lock. Thought it would be nice for another big man to dominate, which mean that Amare has a chance if he stays healthy. He averaged 35 ppg in 63 games. He could average that for a whole season. I think Amare might get the award if he can do the Dream equivalent against higher rated guys.
DBW
I’m not sure. I guess the obvious choice for many would be LeBron James but I personally don’t see it. LeBron does not win that MVP last year if he didn’t spend half of the season inflating his assist numbers at the 1. I’m also not sure if I want him to be my point guard going forward. I can see a guy like Gilbert Arenas sneaking out with some MVP awards when guys like Preira finally dies. Arenas is pretty much as good as it gets as far as point guards go and he’s only 27 so he has time on his side. If Chris Paul continues to develop I can see him cleaning up the MVP awards as well.
Marty
See above, except James will not win championships he will win scoring titles and MVP awards but never a championship 23 6'9'' 252 A- B+ A- A- A- B, those are his ratings and age which is incredible because it means he can get better and still be even more dominatnt than he already is but yeah he won’t win a championship he will MVP awards and scoring titles but not a championship he is a regular season player unless he goes to another team I am hungry right now and I’m rambling ala Broph to get more points for this even though my statements have nothing to do with the question am I right? LeBron to Sac-town next year it only makes sense…. It makes perfect sense to me at least.
Kruwaukee
Lebron James might surpass Priera levels at some point in his career. At 24 years old Lebron James looks like a monster who still has some more Frankenstein in him. The freak can score inside and out, handle the ball, defend, and rebound better than most big men in the league. If he bumps up his outside shooting with some TC attention then he’ll be A- across the boards for ratings. I also think some may go up to an A just on sheer potential. That’s so scary. He also sims just as well as he is rated which is important. He’s averaging double digit rebounds and his assist numbers are high for an off guard.
Tigertecz: LeBron imo, especially if he starts to play some point. I don’t think he’ll win MVPs without it. I’m just surprised he hasn’t won a title yet. He’ll need to do so soon to really go down as one of the greatest in the game like Preira.
6) Which team is going to win the title this year, and who will they beat? If the Playoffs have finished already, who will win next year and who will they face in the final?
JediSkyWalker
Before I knew about the injuries, I chose the Grizzlies to win it all, facing the Pacers in the finals. I still think the Grizzlies have a chance to take it all, considering they have the best backcourt in the sim league and that's probably the most important facet of FBB. To have such dominating players in Preira and Wade is just scary. Now that I've heard about the injuries, I'd choose the Pacers over the Grizzlies. The Pacers offensive power is just down right unfair. Like I said in my early responses, PG is the most important position in FBB. While unorthodox, Redd is doing a decent job distributing and finding his teammates but never in my life have I seen a player put up 30 PPG, alongside 2 other players who both put up 20+ per game and to add to that... the rest of the starters put up 10+ PPG. It'll probably be the Pacers vs. Western Conference Champs and the Pacers will take it.
ib4
My vote would be for the Grizzlies. EP/TD/Wade. Should take the defending champs in a close 6 or 7 game series.
donatello2424
Pacers will win the title. I just like how balanced they are. Since we are so close to the end I will give projections for next year. I think the Pacers will go for another title run since they will basically have their team back. If play keeps the spurs together they go can another appearance. If not, then the Clippers. I think another year will do them good. If crazymike was active and wrote some articles, they would be even better.
DBW
Well the off-season has just gotten underway so it’s a tough call. I fully expect to see some blockbusters go down over the next few days. I know I’ve been in talks for a couple of big deals myself. If I can pull off the deals I want then I think LeBron and the Lakers can finally get a ring. As far as Western teams who are already primed for a finals appearance, I think the most obvious choices are the Spurs and the Grizzlies, with the Clippers looking on the outside in. I don’t think there is a contest in the East – The Pacers seem to be leaps and bounds better than any other team there. The fact that they were able to re-sign all of their guys to cheap deals spells trouble not only for the East, but for the league as a whole. I’ll go with the Spurs winning it all over the Pacers next year. I know Play has been looking to trade Manu due to salary complications but his team should still be dominant even if they happen to downgrade at the 2.
Marty
Indiana won the championship last year and this year looks to be no different as they cruise to the best record in the league. The championship team is still intact and is lead by their point guard Michael Redd in a very fast, run and gun style offense. They have three pure scorers with Redd, Hamilton, and Anthony. Marion gives them defense and rebounding with a bit of a scoring touch and Darko is there to do the dirty work with his rebounding and shot blocking.
Kruwaukee
I think the Grizzlies will win the title. Wade and Duncan is dynamic duo while having Mr. Priera as the X factor to put them over the hump. I think they match up well against the clear Eastern Conference favorite the Indiana Pacers. As for next year I think we’ll see it shake up a bit. I think the Golden State Warriors will be the darkhorse to make it out of the Western Conference while the Pacers climb back to regain the crown. I think Aar has what it takes to add a little bit more to his team while the other GMs may struggle to find their “missing” piece.
Tigertecz: I think the Grizzlies will play the Pacers next season and win again. Wade – Preira – Duncan is too good. All three are top class players and Wade isn’t even in his prime yet. There is crazy talent in that team.
7) Which two players are you most looking forward to seeing enter the league in the next 3-5 drafts and why? What sort of ratings will they hit at their peak?
JediSkyWalker
Evan Turner and Russell Westbrook. I could name others outside of the drafts but my list is too big for that. These 2 have entered their name in the draft and look to be the real deal. Initially, Westbrook was scouted to have A defense. Anytime you can draft a player straight out of college with A defense who's only 20... damn, that would have been very scary. Right now, the #1 looks to be him or Turner. I like Turner's all-around game but what could hurt him is he has no specialized area in his game. It's really tough to judge players that way especially when FBB is so random. I expect Westbrook to have B+ C+ A- A C type ratings and Turner to have A- A- B B+ B. I'm not sure if this is too high or too low for this league, so excuse my judgment if you think my opinion is insane.
ib4
We all know Turner has some sick ratings for a prospect, and he could very well peak at A- B+ A- A A-, unless he's a bust. Another player that I’m curious to see is Michael Jordan's son Marcus who plays for Central Florida. Will he have success in this league like his father? Either him or Rubio, curious to see how Play rates him.
donatello2424
John Wall. He could be the next great PG of the league, which needs more top ones. I think at his peak he could be around: A B A A C, those are crazy ratings for a PG.
Jarvis Varnado. Not many people know who he is, but he is a great shot blocker. He was 3-time SEC Defensive player of the year, he holds the SEC records for most blocks in a season, he holds the SEC record for most career blocks, and he holds the national record for most career blocks. In a league lacking top shot blocker, he could be one. For ratings I think he could be: B D C A+ B+. He has a bit of an inside game as well but his true bread and butter is on the defensive side.
DBW
This is really tough for me because I haven’t been following high school/college ball at all as of late. I’d hate to bow out of this question though so for the first one I’ll say Brandon Knight. In all honestly I don’t know who he is but I’ve heard his name recently so there you go. I’ll also say Jeff Teague since he went back to college in this league so he counts. I actually know a little bit about him as I liked Wake Forest to go far in the 09 tournament (I think) then they got smashed in the 1st round smh. Reading up on Knight, he’s definitely a stud. I know about Teague so I could do his ratings right away
Brandon Knight – B B- C+ C+ C A
Jeff Teague – C+ B C B- D+ B
Marty
Kevin Love because Love is an excellent passer for his size. Love will be one of the top rebounding power forwards for years to come. Love has a very high basketball IQ and his post moves are rapidly improving. His peak ratings will be B+ C B C A+ another guy I am interested in is Jordan Hill Hill is not very skilled but he out hustles most players at his position. Hustling can only get you so far though. Hill has to work on his post moves and hit the weight room. If he wants to be successful in UOSLR. I think his potential peak ratings could be B- D+ D+ A+ A+
Kruwaukee
Being such a college basketball enthusiast its very exciting to see a lot of players, which I’ve followed since highschool start to enter into the UOSLR. I also think it fun too because they don’t have any professional experience to gauge them on so projections will be even harder. I think John Wall is one of the most intriguing prospects to enter the league because he’s got Chris Paul quickness with Lebron like freakness. I think guys like Harrison Barnes and Brandon Knight will be fun too. We could also have a strong international presence come into the league as well as a fun twist and turn. I think Wall will have to end up somewhere like A-, B-, A-, A, C while a guy like Barnes could be ??. That’s the fun part about it!
Tigertecz: Ricky Rubio for me. Boy is a special talent. I’m also looking forward to seeing John Wall come into the league and see the two square off for the top PG spot. At their primes I can see Rubio as C B+ A+ A+ C C and Wall as A C+ A- A C+ C and both should be a lotta fun.
8) UOSLR started with a creation draft. If the league were to start again from the current crop of players, who would be picked 1-5 and why?
JediSkyWalker
1. LeBron James - No brainer.
2. Dwyane Wade - Young, just as good as LBJ offensively and defensively at SG
3. Amare Stoudemire - Best big man in the league
4. Al Jefferson - Not that far behind Amare
5. Devin Harris - One of the best young PG in the game, needs to work on his handles, though
ib4
EP pops into everyone's head immediately but he's 35. Probably LeBron James or Dwight Howard, given that their young.
donatello2424
1. LeBron James. He is a great player and can play any position, so why wouldn’t you take him #1?
2. Dwayne Wade. Very good 2-guard. A- A- B- A is sick for a guy. He averaged almost 30 ppg this year, he would be outstanding for a team.
3. I think to balance it out a big man. I think Amare. He is still young and is a great scorer. He is starting to become a good rebounder and shot blocker, and could help a team with being their centerpiece to build around.
4. Al Jefferson would go next. Good young big, like Amare but not as good of a scorer. Would be great for nay team to have.
5. Gilbert Arenas. He is a very good true pg. His tos are high but he is sick otherwise. If there was some points put into him, he could be a 4-1 assist to turnover type guy with 25 ppg average. Very nice.
DBW
This is tough list to make. I listed the first 5 that came to mind.
1. LeBron James – No brainer. He is probably the most coveted player in the league as he’s all anyone asks about when engaging in trade talks with me and I talk trade with nearly everyone. He’s 24 with nearly all A- ratings across the board and he still seems to be growing. With the potential to average 30/10/6 in his prime years, he has to be number one.
2. Amare Stoudemire – He’s the most dominant player in the league right now and he’s just 26. I would place him over LeBron if I weren’t sure that LeBron was much more coveted.
3. Dwyane Wade – In my opinion he’s been superior to LeBron and last year’s playoffs only confirmed my thoughts. He’s 3 years older than LeBron and isn’t able to rebound as well however, so many would favor LeBron.
4. Chris Paul – Going into his 3rd season this year Paul is already one of the best point guards in the league. People would draft him high because the potential to be a top 5 player in the league is there.
5. Josh Smith – Had to show Smith some love here. He’s 23, arguably the best defensive player in the league, can get you 10+ boards from the 3 or 4 and also happens to be a 20 point scorer.
Marty
Lebron James 507 LeBron James SF 23 6'9'' 252 A- B+ A- A- A- B, baed on age ratings and production he’s the best player
Then Stevenson, Wagner, Iguodala and Lebron James again because based on age and ratings and producting he’s the best player ever and will win a ton of awards for this achievement because he is awesome at everything he does for sure.
Kruwaukee
I’d select Lebron number 1 because he is clearly the best all around player in the league. 2 Amare Stoudemire because big men win championships. 3. Dwayne Wade he’s the closes thing to Lebron James. 4. In the words of Gwen Stafani “I saw Red” Michael Redd the guy sim so so well. 5. Etienne Priera just to say I had him and the fact is that he’s still that damn good.
Tigertecz: 1 LeBron, 2 Wade, 3 Amare, 4 Al Jefferson, 5 Deron. I think they are some of the best players at their positions, and none of them are considered as old.
9) Is the Contract Year too lenient? What criteria would you prefer?
JediSkyWalker
Yup. Very lenient by the looks of it. It should be 4 and potential 5th, or just 5 and that's it. Giving a GM 6 years to try and get 40 wins or playoffs is just fucking insane. In leagues I'm in, usually 4 is it. GMs usually have to plan ahead and contend at year 3 and "lock it up" by 4th. Giving a GM a potential 6th year in here makes absolutely no sense to me to be honest. If a GM requires 6th year... he isn't very good and therefore should be canned before that. Like I said 5th year MAX is what I'd prefer.
ib4
The Contract Year is fair, it just has some loopholes, as we saw with DET. 4 years and 5th is the CY is fine, but there should be a ban on when the fired GM can join the waiting list. I guess that's what happened with the Pistons?
donatello2424
I don’t think it is. I think it is fine with the 4-5 type of system. We don’t have people on the waiting list so reducing it would mean we fire capable GMs and have no one to replace them with. I think the only thing that should change is the giving extra time to people because they didn’t have a good situation to come into. You then build and try to make your CY. Keep it the way it is. If it aint broke, don’t fix it.
DBW
I don’t know what the fuss is about. Zyme got a wrench thrown into his situation with that hard cap thing with tmacz so Ashes thought it was appropriate to give him an extra year. Was it the right decision? I think so, but if others don’t then that’s fine too. We can just make it so no one gets extra years no matter what. As far as the amount of years, I don’t care either way.
Marty
Yes I think it's pretty ridiculous that you essentialy get 4-5 seasons before your CY.I say we make it like BBS. CY after 3 season, in your 4th season you need 42 wins or playoffs. we would have less people losing out in their CY because they can't sit on their teams for 4 season and that's the problem people get lazy because they basically get 5 seasons to do absolutely nothing with their team and when that 5th season finally hits they don't have shit to show see Portland.
Kruwaukee
Rebuilding isn’t a cookie cutter process. There is no one way to go about nor if you do everything right in terms of drafting does that mean it pans out. Sometimes guys bust or free agents walk and it really fucks up the program. However I do think the CY is a great measuring stick to the time frame GMs should have in order to rebuild their franchise. I do think that GMs need to be more proactive in order to win and can’t be passive thinking all your chips are gonna line up. You need to plan ahead financially, look at possible trade avenues, and not be afraid to shake things up. If a GM can’t survive the contract year they deserve to be let go. I do think that we should add some sort of stipulation on top of it so that a GM can’t just barely win 40 and then have a subpar season right after. There should be some sort of natural progression or probationary term once you reach the CY.
Tigertecz: I’m happy the way it is but think it’s too lenient really. Not enough pressure one GMs imo, but I don’t necessarily think it’s a real bad thing for the league.
10) Top 3 GMs - name them and explain why you think they rule.
JediSkyWalker
I'm not too familiar with the GMs right now but I'll base it on success/what I know so far.
donatello2424
1. Bulls - 4 ships? Did he win all 4? Has Big Al and DSS for the present and the future. Has potential to add to his trophy case.
2. Lakers - I've known DBW for a while and on paper, his team is just down right scary. Not sure how you guys allow him to create such a scary team (hell, I gave him Fred Jones, hahaha)
3. Grizzlies - His team looks nice. It's tough to judge GMs that you don't know.
ib4
I haven't been around too long to know everybody and their GMing abilities that well, so I'm gonna refrain from answering this one.
Tiger. He always finds a way to contend. He had his dynasty, then tore it down and is now starting to build it back up with Jefferson and Stevenson.
DBW. His team isn’t as good as it once was, but he has down a great job of trying to bring in some youth for some of his aging vets and still remain competitive. Of course, LeBron doesn’t hurt.
Kenny Powers. Besides doing sports and not trying to be the best at exercising, he has built a dominant team. He took on some player that not many people wanted and turned them into a very good team.
DBW
1. Andrew – I thought things were looking bleak for the Pacers a few seasons back but with the drafting of Milicic and Anthony and the trade for Redd, the Pacers suddenly took off. In retrospect that Michael Redd deal is probably the biggest rape deals I’ve seen go through here along with the deal for Duncan. Obtaining Rip solidified their team. ½ in the finals the past two seasons and he’s doing it with personnel that I don’t find to be amazing at all. On paper I’d take quite a few teams over the Pacers. They don’t play games on paper though.
2. Csdude – Just won the championship with Duncan out for the first two rounds, though apparently that isn’t very impressive as damn near everyone picked them to win it all regardless. “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” happens to describe the Grizzlies perfectly as they went out and got Preira. With the Big 3 they had it wasn’t a matter of if they would win, but when.
3. Play – He hasn’t had the recent championship success like the other two, but his moves are just as good if not better. His deals for Dirk Nowitzki and Devin Harris were steals and although I didn’t like the deal where he moved Okafor for Roy, he made it worth while when it then flipped Roy for Manu.

1. CSDude- He’s built championship caliber teams on multiple occasions that deserves recognition
2. Andrew (Pacers)- He’s built the Pacers into a dynasty caliber team. He’s always looking to improve but he’s patient at the same time.
3. Play- He takes a lot of heat but he never leaves the kitchen this Las Vegas native knows how to handle. He’s built a winner out there in San Antonio.
11) Bottom 3 GMs - name them and explain why you think they blow.
JediSkyWalker
Like I said earlier, not too much to gauge upon.
1. Blazers - Lol @ 6 years to rebuild.
2. Nets - Lost Big Al and bitches about it. Not to mention he cockblocked... lol.
3. Pistons? Didn't make a move this season... lol. Not to mention he thinks a bench >
ib4
iflip that’s it. Cuz he's garbage.
donatello2424
zyme. What exactly have you done so far? He is holding way too much hope that he either signs a big name fa or one of his rookies becomes a stud very quickly.
Chipper. The sonics suck, he wants too much for his players, and they are stuck.
Whoever the Hawks gm is. That team sucks, he sucks, he doesn’t do anything, and he never posts. Next.
DBW
1. Jalstar – Maybe he’s not bad as far as GMing but he isn’t active at all. I’m pretty sure I spelled his SN wrong. That only confirms the fact that he’s never around, or that I’m an idiot (I’m saying this beforehand as I set myself up). BTW I’ll take the former. Anyway… He may have made maybe 2 trades in the 8-9 seasons that I’ve been here. It would be nice if he took his team as serious as he does the draft. Maybe he’s busy with something but in that case he’s been busy for the duration of the league.
2. Mops –I know he isn’t a current GM, but see Trunks sig. He traded DeShawn Stevenson, Caron Butler and multiple top draft choices for nothing at all. At least he was active though, so he’s 2nd.
3. Jayhatesu – Never comes on and when he does, it’s brief. Unlike Jal though I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt as he’s only been here a few seasons.

2. Hornets GM- Not active or smart enough to handle a franchise.
3. Jazz GM- Not active enough and let the hard cap ruin him. Not proactive enough to recover.
12) Is there anyone in the league you think should be fired? Could be because of their ability as a GM, could be because of activity, could just be because you think they are negative for the league or because they wear Uggs (coughPLAYcough). Whatever your reasons, name them, shame them, and tell us why!
JediSkyWalker
Hands down the Blazers GM. I think this would be consensus. He's inactive (on vacation) and his GM ability sucks dicks. 1 and 1 together makes 2 and that's how many brain cells this kid has.
ib4
same as #10
donatello2424
Crazymike. He just doesn’t post enough and when he does post, it is 1 word posts or pictures. He had 7 posts in the regular season thread…7. Also Jay. never posts, bad team, just seems content and doesn't care about the league.
DBW
Hold up… Play wears Uggs? Ahahahahahahaaha I would have never guessed. I want to think that you’re kidding but I believe it because shit like that is no longer rare. Do they even make those for males? I mean I’ve noticed Uggs in stores… and these damn sure weren’t stores for men. I’ve seen quite a few swaggots who take it over the top. An acquaintance of mine will rock the Uggs with the skinny jeans, scarf around his neck and a tight ass coat with fur on the hoody. Needless to say he has the mannerisms of a hood rat bitch. I’d hope Play doesn’t do it to the level that I’ve seen around here but yea that’s suspect. What happened to Timbs and fitted jeans with a nice, solid color sweater that doesn’t look like a box of Skittles? Shit I keep it strictly hetero. And I’m not a hater. This isn’t to hate on Play or any other Ugg wearers. Do whatever the fuck you want. Just know that your fashion sense got fucked up at some point in your life if a lady friend asks to borrow your shoes.
Anyway if I were in charge of hiring/firing my main criteria would be activity, followed by being flat out horrible. I would have fired Mops but he quit due to unfortunate reasons. As soon as we got an active guy on the wait list I’d kick out Jalstar. Gnsts says he has been busy but he needs to step up big time… Jay is in the same boat.
Marty
Mike might bother the hell out of me, but he's done a really good job by blowing up this team. He'll get to start all over, so he'll finally get to prove his worth.
Kruwaukee
First off whats up with the dig against Uggs? I wear them all the time and have worn them for a very long time. You try walking out of the ocean in the winter, take off your wetsuit boots and not walk around in uggs after. Those things are so warm and comfy. Secondly I’d fire 2 GMs at the moment. It would be the Blazers and Hornets and get some wily veteran to take their spot. The Hornets are too good to let Gsnt not do anything with them.
Tigertecz: Krup wtf you wear Uggs too?! Oh man… smh. LOL at you and Play!
13) Ashes was a great commish, but as he wasn't able to run the league 100% any more, UOSLR dwindled. Activity was at an all time low, people were ready to give up on the league I feel, and it looked pretty bad for the league. Play stepped up to do the draft files, and Ducky stepped up to sim, taking back control of the league he founded. Would you say activity was back on track and the league was in good shape to continue for many more years? Why / why not?
JediSkyWalker
I'm still fairly new to the UOSLR community. Even though I know many of the GMs here I think it's safe to say activity should be about the same. Last time I was around, it was kind of "more active" but that might be because of all those spam threads where you had to post pad
ib4
Activity is fine, probably not at its peak but everything is cool for now. I would say activity is back on track and the league will last a while if it keeps up
donatello2424
Not sure. There still seems to be some people who are not as active. I would say for the time being that it is growing strong. If ashes decided he wanted to come back and take over, then that would be great as well. As long this league keeps running at the top of its game it should be great.
DBW
I think the activity situation was overblown. Sim leagues always go through cycles in activity. The guys that are super active remained super active for the most part. Ashes is one of the goat commishes but Ducky and Play have done so well that I’ve nearly forgotten about him. Just kidding, come back when you can broham. Anyway, I’d think the activity level as of late is as high as I’ve ever seen it. There have been a lot more random topics suddenly exploding with Ashes gone which is weird. As long as the core guys stay in tact the league should go on into the 2020’s. Hopefully we weed out the guys who aren’t active as we go along.
Marty
No, because it’s not these questions suck.
Kruwaukee
I still think activity is subpar. The amount of league articles has diminished (I’m to blame too) and overall posting about your own teams in season is minimal. I think so many teams are rebuilding or trying to that it takes away from the excitement of the league. I feel that we will be ridding ourselves of a lot of old talent soon to retirement and a new wave of superstars is on the way. However league activity has been better and Ducky has stepped up big time. Props duck!
Tigertecz: Ashes was a great Commish, but I gotta say props to Ducky and Play so far. I do think though that the activity is quite poor, especially in the regular season. I mean, we always see people wanting to rush through the playoffs, and rush through the draft / offseason in general… and yet those are the most active times in our league it seems. We rush through, then come back into the slow lull of the regular season. I dunno what we could do to spice up activity as a whole, but then, the league is far from being inactive, and it’s not a huge problem imo.
14) Would you change anything in the league right now? If so - what, and if not - why?
JediSkyWalker
I think the league is fine. Maybe a few GM changes and something to promote trading or something... discussion always seems low in this league.
ib4
UOSL has been around long enough to fortify and rectify its structure and rules, so I wouldn't change anything about the league for now.
donatello2424
Maybe keep some more guys at school a bit longer. It seems there have been a lot of higher touted young guys coming into the league.
DBW
I would love to change the fact that I can’t seem to fucking win around here. Maybe give my guys some extra points here and there iunno… I don’t think Ducks is very fond of me but my paypal account will change that.
Marty
I would change the person who came up with these questions.
Kruwaukee
I’d give the draft mods +3 again. We’ve always gotten it and all of a sudden its +2. Fuck the economy. We do a great job in running the draft efficiently and for those who don’t make the draft are usually happy with our auto selections (minus Aar who didn’t want Wagner). I’d also step up the CY as talked about above. Other than that league is pretty good.
15) Name 3 GM's you'd like to chill with in real life, 3 GM's you'd avoid in real life, and 3 GM's you want to call out for whatever reason you feel necessary... maybe they make you angry... maybe they make you feel sleepy... or maybe they make you feel constipated... I dunno. The floor is yours to get whatever off your chest about them!

Chill:
1. Styro - UCLA fan, seems like a nice guy
2. Don - Getting to like this guy a lot
3. Mike? He was the only name I'm familiar with... except for DBW but he's black and I don't want to get raped.

2. Blazers GM - Scrammed... TWICE
3. Pistons GM - Hasn't done shit.. not to mention he said bench was VERY important in FBB... lol.

3 GMs I have chilled with / played ball with: justtaddwatrr, iflip, and dmoney...cuz we're friends lol. But GM's I would chill with in real life? I dunno, Ashes, Ducky, whoever. Almost everybody in this league seems like someone I can have a beer with. I dunno who I'd avoid. Probably Jebly. Cuz we've been in sims together a long time and play MW2 a lot together. Then meeting face-to-face would be like 'hey I’m in a sim league with you! and play video games with you!...', mad awkward. Yeah I wouldn't want to meet jebly. Yeah that's right bitch. Wait is he even in the league anymore?

Call out:
Jay. I have no idea how you are still here. You long on every once in a while and then do nothing.
Kobe. Just because I don’t respond to your pm within 5 minutes doesn’t mean you have to send me 18 more.
Zyme. Your team sucks. Yes your team was good in the other league, but here it sucks and it doesn’t seem that you care.
DBW
Alright let us see here…
Chill with: Play, kru and marty. Play will lure in the bitches with his designer jeans and Ugg boots. While the birds are asking where he shops at, me and Kru aka Krupimpski will roll up, full creep mode on, and get to macking. Marty is the square of the group. Kru, Play and myself will use Marty for the butt of our jokes. Bitches love jokes.
Avoid: Saga, Chipper and Jedi . Saga seems a little too nice and cheery. If I flamed him, I’d probably only get a “hehehe” back. I’m all for being chill and non confrontational but Saga takes it to a level I’ve never seen online. It’s kinda scary lol. For some reason I think Chipper and I wouldn’t get along. I can’t put my finger on what it is exactly because otherwise he seems chill and we go way back. Jedi is a lame.
Call outs: Jal, Jay and gnsts. Like I explained earlier these guys aren’t active at all and need to get their acts together. Hopefully whatever is preventing them from getting on will end soon. Yea I’m taking the easy route with this one…
Marty
No one. I’m a loner.
Kruwaukee
1. Tiger- People from the UK are always fun
2. Jah- I play PS3 with him all the time now I’d like to meet him.
3. Ducky- I want to get him wasted.

Kruwaukee
1. Blazers GM- He sucks, he has sucked, and will continue to suck.
JediSkyWalker
Chill:
1. Styro - UCLA fan, seems like a nice guy
2. Don - Getting to like this guy a lot
3. Mike? He was the only name I'm familiar with... except for DBW but he's black and I don't want to get raped.
Avoid:
1. DBW - Mentioned above.
2. chipper - Jew
3. ducky's brother... who the fuck names themself tmac's daddy. Tmac sucks.
Angry:
1. Broph - Cock block more.
2. Blazers GM - Scrammed... TWICE
3. Pistons GM - Hasn't done shit.. not to mention he said bench was VERY important in FBB... lol.
ib4
Wait is he even in the league anymore?
donatello2424
Chill:
Jedi
Broph
Chipper
Avoid:
Marty
Kobe
DBW- he rapes people
Call out:
