OK so everyone in sims knows only the Commissioner can truly know how good players are, based on their numerical ratings. Us GM's can only go on stats, and what we see by letter grade ratings. The letter grade ratings give us an idea of how good a player is on paper. How well they sim depends on many factors, such as height, weight, numerical values behind the ratings, opposing players, tactics etc etc. But, the main thing we get to look at is letter grades in valuing a player.
There have been a couple of articles recently regarding most valuable players etc, but in this article I tried to be a little bit original, and rank teams on how good they are on paper, i.e. how good each team is, based on the letter grade ratings of their players. I set it up so each letter grade is assigned a numerical value from -7 to +8 as follows:
+8 : A+
+7 : A
+5 : A-
+3 : B+
+2 : B
+1 : B-
±0 : C+
-1 : C
-2 : C-
-3 : D+
-4 : D
-5 : D-
-6 : F+
-7 : F
With these values I was able to come up with a complete numerical value for each player by adding up their ratings, and then add up the ratings across every player on each team to give each team a numerical value. Because I wanted to focus on how good players / teams are, rather than how valuable they are, I omitted "potential" ratings from the calculations as they do not impact how good a player is. What I have come up with below, is each team, ranked by their ratings, on paper, along with their total points and their top scoring players. Also below are the top ten players in the league... you guessed it, on paper
Hopefully it will be of some interest and will generate some discussion... if not... bleh I tried lol. Also note, these were done with the rosters as of Day 20, so apologies if some rosters are not updated or whatever.
