In this edition of Mad Money I will tell you what teams to Sell! Buy! Wait! So season ticket holders get ready because we're about to show you the money like Jerry Macguire!
Aright lets start things off in the Atlantic division home of 3 and the past two championship trophies. Lets break it down...
Atlantic Division
We'll begin things with the back to back champions New Jersey Nets who dealt off franchise phenom Derrick Favors after they fell in love with the outside game and Favors couldn't hit the backboard outside of the paint. Regardless the Nets are still with a wealth of talent and just can't seem to lose. Broph wants to lose and especially after acquiring his draft pick we don't anticipate him wasting much more time. Expect him to find suitors for rental player Dirk Nowitzki and Chauncey Billups soon. That means SELL immediately as this team will plumet way before the trade deadline.
The Boston Celtics check in at 2nd place in the division with expiring aging talent all over the place. The Celtics want to win but ultimately the best move for their franchise would be to lose. We just don't see Ray doing that though because he's stubborn enough to win at all costs so we'll say STAY for now but monitor this because it could be a SELL very soon.
The next team in the division is one of the fastest up and coming teams in the league. The Washington Bullets have been the ultimate tankers landing #1 and #2 picks in recent drafts which have enabled them to move up quick. They've made solid moves to acquire two extremely underrated big men for a cheap price. BUY BUY BUY This team is going to win some championships soon enough.
Philadelphia is the place of brotherly love but its also the place of many muggings, beatings, and theft. To no ones surprise the Philadelphia 76ers pulled one of the most controversial moves ever in the history of UOSLR when it pouched Al Jefferson from the storied Chicago Bulls. This immediately changed the face of the franchise and just like Wall Street we're all about results/ BUY
The New York Knicks were on many preseason lists to win the Atlantic this season. Making a whirlwind amount of trades which completely changed the landscape of the franchise. There is no doubt the Knicks have an immense amount of talent but with DB's history we're gonna say SELL. Howard and Evans are no longer in the weak weak west and Basone hasn't assembled this team to have an identity as he has a mix mosh of talent.
Down south the Orlando Magic are hardly the most enchanting thing in central Florida. People are bored with Josh Smith as he's not a franchise player and Andre Igodoula has obviously lost a step. The Magic have no where to go but down with heavy contract that burden them for this season and next. SELL SELL SELL
Things aren't so hot in South Beach for the Miami Heat as they are on the down slide from their run a few years back. Still holding onto the contract of Eddie Griffin who will occupy 50% of their salary cap next season. The Heat will at least see a better tomorrow and right now their stock is low. So we're saying BUY low and then iflip this stock for profit when things turn around.
Central Division
Indiana Pacers have been the cherry on top of the Central for the past few seasons racking up 2 championships in recent years. They have a wealth of talent up front almost too much talent. Andrew has sat on top of his mountain as his stock has climbed but unfortunately they have no where to go but down. SELL The market for guys like Rip Hamilton, Shawn Marion, Zach Randolph is dead they will all retire as Pacers.
When you look at the Milwaukee Bucks you see one thing. Thats commitment. They don't own a draft pick for quite some time which means they are going to do everything in their power to keep winning. Dwayne Wade hasn't skipped a beat as he's aged and Greg Monroe and Travis Leslie only seem to get better with age. The real difference maker is Louis Williams who could be the missing piece to the puzzle if GM Kruwaukee can fix his turnover woes. BUY
We're gonna head North now to talk about our Canadian friends the Toronto Raptors The Raptors have some good young talent but not enough to make them a serious contender which leaves us with Yao Ming. Quite possibly one of the best big men in the league but his contract is a hinderance to the Raps if they want to add more talent around him. This folks is a SELL
The Charlotte Hornets have a lot of buzz but don't sting. Lebron James and Evan Turner might be the best 1-2 punch in the league yet they can't figure out a formula to win. James may or may not be active enough to put this Hornets franchise back to prominence. Certainly if James puts in the effort he is more than capable enough to do it. STAY on this one for a bit because he could finally figure it out or blow it up in frustration.
Its amazing how the mighty have fallen but if there was ever a time to BUY the Chicago Bulls its now! Soon enough we'll see the reemergence of Tigers den and many other articles with Tiger's name on it. Reese will be a super star and someone will overpay for mediocre talent as Tiger's PR rep is the best in the biz. BUY BUY BUY
This next team will be the GE of UOSLR always steady but I don't expect them to pay off big dividends anytime in the near future. The last time we saw this stock boom the central saw the Bulls, Bucks, and Raptors in rebuild. The Cleveland Cavs have active leadership but no superstar talent but just enough to make them a borderline playoff team. The Cavs probably held onto Rudy Gay for too many seasons and delayed their inevitable rebuild. I'll say STAY on this stock as you really can't go wrong but don't expect it to blow up.
The Atlanta Hawks are hardly soaring and through this semi burst of ultimate activity J has not been able to puncture belly of the beast they call the central division. The Hawks still have talent and if they play their cards right they can get a lot in return however this window of opportunity is drawing closer to an end with every day simmed. Cut your losses SELL SELL SELL
The declining economy in Michigan has been dying for something to pump them up. Harrison Barnes is that ticket for the Detroit Pistons however we have no confidence in HeatFlash to deliver the goods around him to make the Pistons anything remotely worth paying attention too. Barnes will remain on the island as the lone talent of this franchise with overpaid free agents surrounding him which will prohibit the Pistons to keep building through the draft. We won't say SELL because most likely you got this for nothing anyways but DON'T BUY
There you have it folks we're always Mad about Money here on MSNBC and we're Mad about UOSLR and all the GMs, Franchises, and fans. Thanks for all your votes and stay tuned for the West on next week's episode.
