Strengths:[/u] Austin Charles Patch's priority on the basketball court is defense. He is an amazing one on one defender who always sticks in front of his man. He has quick hands capable of creating turnovers and making things difficult for his counterpart. On offense, he is a decent jump shooter that can at least keep his opponents honest. He has a quick first step capable of catching defenders off guard. He takes care of the ball well and makes smart decisions. Athletically, he's nothing to boast about, but he is a high IQ player that makes everyone better. Weaknesses:[/u] He is a streaky three-point shooter at best. Despite the ability to get into the lane, he is a poor finisher around the rim. He may manage the game well, but he struggles to find the open man or make the best pass on occasions, some attribute this to his height. He will be punished by stronger guards. He's a poor rebounder, even for a PG. Scout's Take:[/u] Patch is without question the top PG in the upcoming draft; however, some scouts are worried about his size. He'll probably never be a high assist guy, but he could very well end up as one of the best defending guards in the league, and if he develops his 3P shot, he could be something special. He has talent, but it may take a little extra effort to become a star. Comparison:[/u] Chauncey Billups Ratings:[/u] Austin Charles Patch PG 5'11'' 175 19 C B- C+ B+ D+ A Georgia Tech Fr.
