Chipper's GM Roundtable
Here we go. Sorry it's a bit late, but people were slack in getting answers in.
1. How are you feeling about your team at this very moment?
J- Intrigued. Really this year was finally supposed to be the year I rebuilt, and it was. I finally got deals to ship out Kelenna and Stevenson and grab some young players I like. Interestingly enough we started winning at the rate I thought my team should have coming into the season after my "rebuilding" trades. I know my teams ceiling is a 2nd round playoff berth but I'm too far up to turn my pick into a lotto. So I'm just going to sit back and enjoy my teams last run in the playoffs for a while, until I inevitably lose another #4 v. #5 playoff series.
DB- Really, really good. This is the best team I have had in a while here. It is probably my best team ever in UOSLR. They are a really good group, hopefully its more than a nice regular season.
Kruwaukee- I feel great about the state of the Milwaukee Bucks. We are poised to be a serious championship contender this year as well as many seasons beyond. We have balance in the front court as well as the back. Having a couple of go to scorers and specialty players I really feel good about everyone's role on the team and the minutes they are receiving. You should all come to Milwaukee, visit a brewery, and see a Bucks game.
Play- title or bust...we have all the piece in place to win it all this year.
Tmaczdaddy- I'm feeling solid about our team. I think we have a good shot at winning the championship this year if we can stay healthy. We haven't had an opportunity to go a long stretch with a full roster. Not sure if we are a better inside focused team or an outside focused team. I know for sure that we really struggle when running a balanced offense. If I can find the right DC I think we'll be good in the playoffs. The east is very tough though, but I think I've proven throughout the season that I can beat teams like Knicks and Bucks even with an injury depleted team. hehe
Editor's note:What the fuck tmacz? "hehe"? Who are you, an 8 year old girl?
Prince- Terrible, I feel like I was forced to make a move just to make a contract year and my tenure here is coming to a close. My front court with Sean Williams and Alex is much better now than in previous seasons but Williams turns the ball over a tad too often. I don't think the issue at hand is that I have a bad roster, I've just been unable to put together a working DC.
No doubt getting Stevenson was an upgrade for my team, he's a great player and a great veteran presence in the locker room. Hopefully we can get lucky down the stretch and pull it off, but I'm having doubts at the moment.
My tenure with the Jazz got off to a slow start, I wasn't as active as I should have been but I've tried to improve. If I happen to surpass my expectations and not get fired, I'll probably have to step up the activity.
Tigertecz- After the whole Al Jeff FA debacle I thought we'd be pretty damn flat as a team as we had little pieces of talent that meant we were too good to tank, and too shit to compete. Now though, I'm glad we managed to get J-Myke with the 2nd pick of the past draft as he really is our future. Burks is a nice prospect to pair with him in the backcourt on a decent contract, while Amir Williams looks like a decent prospect too. Hopefully we'll get another game-changing draftee in this upcoming draft, and continue with the rebuild. I hope to make the Bulls competitive again, and add to the five stars already achieved.
chipper- I actually feel pretty amazing about this team. I really, really, REALLY am glad that I made that trade for Perry Jones, as well as the one for Emeka. Jury is still out on the Azubuike trade though, as at the time, I felt I could win a title with that team as assembled, however, my team IS playing better now than it was then. But right now, I really feel like this team has all the pieces in place to make a run in the playoffs. Plus, check out the home record. 35-3? Damn.
2. What direction is your team headed in the next 3-5 seasons?
J- Down to the valley to get to the next hill. We've never had a fully rebuilding team in Atlanta, and it's about time we get a shot at getting a franchise player in the draft instead of free agency. All of our contracts expire after next season leaving some intriguing possibilities going into free agency over the next two years. Namely Jonas and Harrison Barnes. We just have to actually get to that point.
DB- To win as many games possible. I want a ring, I need to maintain cap flexibility but still pursue a championship.
Kruwaukee- There is only one direction in Milwaukee for many seasons and thats championship or bust. I don't own my own draft pick til 2022 and I don't plan on losing until then. We have 3-4 great years left with Dwayne Wade and we hope to win at least 2 championships in that time. Anything short would be a disappointment.
Play- I plan on making the playoffs for the next few season and then rebuild when the fake players are created.
Tmaczdaddy- Hard to say for me. I have some youth on my team that contribute(Sullinger, Rose, Leanord), but at the same time I have some guys that are reaching the latter days of their career(Arenas, Jefferson, Miler). Not totally sure at this point what I'm going to do. It really depends on how I do in the post-season. If we fail to win the championship, then I'll probably wait for TC and if we don't die there, then I'll try to make a move for a championship. This is all speculation at this point though, a lot can happen in the next couple years. I think in 3-5 years we will most likely be on the rebuild.
Prince- It's hard to say, even though my record my not agree, this team is competitive. Outside of Stevenson, the Jazz core is young and could have potential to be dangerous in the future. I would be against rebuilding the jazz but retooling the team could be a better option. Unless a major injury comes along or a free agent leaves to another team, improving the team would be the most likely direction the Jazz should go in.
Tigertecz- I'll be rebuilding for the next couple of seasons and then hope to be competitive. J-Myke looks to be a future superstar, although his turnovers are a serious problem... but I hope to have some other good pieces within the next few seasons to stave off the contract year too. I'm hoping for a swift turnaround though from rebuild to contention.
chipper- Well, right now I am looking to win a title, and hopefully keep that goal for the next few seasons. I mean, I have Perry Fucking Jones. He is a monster in and of himself. However, here's the catch- I have Humphries and Azubuike hitting the FA market in the offseason, and Mo hits next season. So I don't think I'll be able to keep the core intact, but I'll still have Perry. So we'll see. I don't have my picks either for like 100 years, so look for me to still try to win.
3. Give me a rundown of the top 3 players in the league. Who are they? (Note: I would like these in order)
J- 1. Rudy Gay
2. Perry Jones
3. LeBron
DB- Rudy Gay right now nobody can touch this guy. He is on fire, what does he have like 6 or so 50 plus games. Guy is tearing shit up and leading the league in points. Carrying the spurs on his back to the playoffs and beyond.
Perry Jones. Absolute beast and I should know. I traded him in the off season to get Evans and Howard. Jones does it all and he is only 24 years old. Sonics will be great for a long time because of this kid. Hard to argue with the stats he is putting up right now, competing for the MVP with Gay imo.
Tyreke Evans. Is there anybody playing point as good as this guy right now. I mean the guy is a threat to post a triple double every night. He is leading the league in assists and triple doubles this season. He is man running the show in New York. I was going to argue Howard here because he is playing insane as well, but I went with Tyreke.
Kruwaukee- 1. Perry Jones is obviously the best player in the league. Its not that he's the youngest of the best but he's truly the best player in the league. He has great size, he can play more than 1 position, and he's a beast doing everything. It will be fun to see if he can even get better than he already is.
2. Dwayne Wade comes in at number two and don't let anyone think for a second that his age has made him decline what so ever. Dwayne Wade went up this past TC to A+ in defense and he's one of the best scorers in the league.
3. Rudy Gay has proved all skeptics wrong and is one of the best if not the best player in the league. He was always an explosive offensive player but he added defense and boosted his scoring prowess. He is the best scorer in the league since Michael Jordan and thats saying a lot.
Play- 1. Rudy Gay
2. Perry Jones
3. Kevin Durant
Harrison Barnes Fab Melo, and ____ should be in the discussion one day.
Tmaczdaddy- #1 - This is a tough decision, but if I had to choose it would be Rudy Gay at #1. Almost impossible to decide between him and Perry Jones. Jones obviously has the age advantage, but Gay is just sick, dirty and nasty.
#2 - Obviously putting Perry Jones here. Amazing scorer, defender, rebounder etc... But like Rudy Gay his handles are weak. Who needs handles when you're a SF?
#3 - D-Wade. He and Monroe are sick, dirty, and nasty.
I would have loved to put LeBron or Tyreke or Durant on this list, but the above guys are just plain carrying their teams.
Prince- I will give a run down of the most valuable players to their respective teams in no particular order. Rudy Gay, Perry Jones and Lebron James. All three players shoulder a lot for their teams and would likely be worse without those players.
Editor's note-- You fucktard. I SAID IN ORDER.
Tigertecz- 1) Perry Jones - his skillset at 24 is unheard of. He's not the complete player, but he's pretty darn close. With age still on his side though, he can get even better. That's scary.
2) Rudy Gay - this guy is an offensive freak. He's very similar to Perry Jones, but he's older. I'd say it's a toss up between the two talent-wise, but both players will win games on their own.
3) LeBron James - I think he gets overlooked a bit nowadays with the likes of Jones and Gay, but he really is an absolute beast, and is an all-round monster. He scores, rebounds, passes the ball, and is also one of the top ball-stealers in the league (something I believe Jones needs to work on, despite his A defensive rating already).
Real tough one for me... the top three I picked could all be in a different order, or even replaced even. I strongly considered D-Wade at 3, Amare even, Wall is a beast, Gil can't be counted out too... tough one.
chipper- 1. Perry Jones- I know, I'm a homer, but the dude is unreal. He's young, he's averaging about 34 points a game (to go along with over 8 boards a game, and he plays defense too. The dude is unreal.
2. Rudy Gay- This was actually close too, Gay is an incredible player and probably is going to win MVP. I coulda had him last season too but passed.
3. Dwyane Wade- Lots of guys coulda come here, but Wade is on a great Bucks team and is having a statistically fantastic season. Shows no signs of decline either.
4. In your opinion, what team has the best shot at representing the East in the Finals?
J- I like the Knicks. They have the best C (Dwight) and the best PG (Tyreke) in the league. That's a deadly combination. The Bucks are another team I like who probably have a better shot. But I'll take NYK for the sake of originality.
DB- I was thinking about being a homer here, but I went with the Bucks. Krup has proven to be a great gm come the playoffs and knows how to put out a good dc. He has shown he can win in the past, I still need to prove I can win here. It will be an epic battle.
Kruwaukee- All homerism aside I believe its the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks are the most balanced in terms of guards/bigs, offense/defense, starters/bench. They have all the key ingredients to being the most dominant team in the league including 2 go to scorers in Dwayne Wade and Greg Monroe.
Play- I like the Sixers or Knicks to come out of the East. Bucks are garbage and will get raped come playoff time. Pacers are always a threat to take it all.
Tmaczdaddy- I'm going to go with the Hornets. I like their style. LeBron has never even made the finals in his UOSLR career, so the pressure is definitely on this year. People are probably saying "what about the Knicks or Bucks or Pacers"? Pacers are not the same team that they were in the years past. The team has aged a lot. Redd and Darko are still solid, but they can't carry the team. Bucks are weak and some positions. Whiteside is severely overrated and that contract is awful. Wade and Monroe are good, but like the Pacers they can't do it themselves. Louis is a lost cause. I like the Knicks, but my team has handled them too easily this year. Although James is a total idiot, his team is actually good for once.
Prince- Sixers. Al Jefferson and Jared Sullinger are a deadly duo on the frontcourt and they have plenty of depth behind them. With Arenas and Green in the backcourt, anything other than a championship should be considered a failure.
Tigertecz- Bucks. They have a lot of talent across their starting 5, play hard defense and also score a lot too. It's a close call though in the East with the talented Knicks and even the old Pacers can't be counted out. I think the Bucks may be beaten with a scoring PG like Reke/Redd against them though as Lou-Will can't hold onto the ball... but I'd still see the Bucks taking the East.
chipper- I'm sticking with my preseason prediction and picking the Knicks. And yes, I'm being a homer, as I still think Tyreke and Dwight are awesome players. But in all honesty, I REALLY like the Knicks roster. They've made some great moves, and I definitely can see them coming out of the East. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the Bucks, Pacers, or Sixers also came out. Hell, LeBron could go into F-You mode in the playoffs and the Hornets could be right there. But for now, I'm sticking with the Knicks.
5. Same question, but for the West.
J- Maybe I'm just partial to my former players, but I love Seattle in the West. The combonation of Jones and Azubuike will be too much for a lot of teams to handle. Their front court scares me a little, but I don't think the Spurs' (their main competition in the West) is the type to pick it apart.
DB- Sonics, are looking like the team to beat but the spurs are making a run. Sonics have to many weapons though and nobody can really match up with them. Playoff match up, Perry Jones vs Rudy Gay? Hot damnnnnn.
Kruwaukee- The West I originally liked the Spurs but I might have to switch to the Sonics then again I have this strange feeling a darkhorse team is really going to shock everyone and make it to the finals. I think the Sonics latest trade with the Atlanta Hawks really put them over the top to be the best team out West. So yea I say the Sonics for the win!
Play- I'll go with the Sonics here(don't get a hard on Chipper). I could see my Spurs taking out the Sonics if Ray Allen steps his game up.
Tmaczdaddy- Sonics. NO doubt about it. I don't see any team taking them to 7 games to be honest. The only team that might give them a real challenge is the Spurs, but take away Gay and Jones and this matchup is lopsided. Majorly lopsided. Sonics SHOULD cruise through the western playoffs if they can stay healthy. Even then, the West is so weak I don't think they would get challenged even with injuries. Nuggets are also amazingly overrated. Don't let the record fool you. They have only a +1 in margin. Sad for a 31-17 team IMO. Can't do that in playoffs when you play real teams.
Prince- It's between the Sonics and Spurs...and unless the Spurs improve their frontcourt, beating the Sonics in a 7 games series wont be easy. It's all likely the Sonics will take that series in 7 against the Spurs.
Tiger- Sonics. Running away with the West right now, with Jones leading the team, but you can't ignore the contributions of Mo Williams (who, along with Jones has a Player of the Month award after 3 months have passed). Kelenna is still a beast wing-man, and the frontcourt partnership of Okafor/Humphries is golden in this sort of team as they do all the dirty work. I think if anything, people can exploit Humphries with a big scoring Center, but they should be good in the West.
chipper- It's either going to be the Spurs or us, and I really like our chances. However, Rudy Gay has been playing out of his mind as of late, and it seems as if Ray Allen is coming back into form now. So it's tough. I'm going to say us for now. Really gotta mention this though: If the conference finals are Spurs vs. Sonics (which is my guess right now), HOLY CRAP. Gay vs. Jones. That's like LeBron vs. Kobe in real life. That would be an AWESOME matchup.
6. Does Prince make his contract year this season or is it too late for him?
J- He makes it because he took a risk and traded for Stevenson. I would've given you this same answer when he was 20-27. The bottom playoff seeds in the West weren't impressive in the least bit, and adding an All League calibre talent in Stevenson along with actually having a quality depth chart is guiding him into the playoffs.
DB- He's barely going to make it this time. What is it for this guy? How many times has he been in his cy? Damn 1 time to many.
Kru- I'm really indifferent to Prince. I think he's a pretty nice guy, sometimes a little too uptight for my liking, but overall he's been bad here. Sure he's had some bad luck but being proactive usually overturns bad luck. Being passive only multiplies bad luck. Prince only posts often when we have incentive to do so and otherwise he's really quiet. I don't know if I want to root against him because we might bring in someone that is worse.
Play- Prince has a chance. Biggie is an idiot for not doing the deal Marty proposed. lol not doing that deal could be the reason Biggie goes into his contract year next season.
Tmacz- I think he'll make it. He has/had a lot of underachievers on his team. Livingston, Stevenson, Westbrook, and Law all underachieved for prince so far this season. He has a lot of talent on his team so I think he'll definitely make te playoffs. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they got past the first round and made a nice run in the playoffs. I think they'll surprise some people. Talented team. It's sad to see that a lineup of Livingston/Westbrook/Stevenson/Williams/Oriakhi can't get it done. They even have a solid bench. Sad story
Prince himself- I don't think it's too late but I think I fall just short of making the playoffs by having an identical records with the team in 8th place.
Tiger- I hope and think he'll make it. With DSS on board that's a hell of a weapon, and he's not that many games off the pace. If he can maybe move one of his point guards for a proper wing man I think he'd have a better shot though... Do it for the old NSBA GMs Prince!
chipper- He'll make it. The Stevenson trade was big for him, for sure, and he's been doing well as of late. He NEEDS to be more proactive on making deals though. Let's not make this a pattern every 4th or 5th year for him- about to go into his CY and then starts making moves. That's a no-go for me.
7. Name the top 5 GMs of the past 5 seasons. Explanations please!
J- I'm terrible at this. I don't really pay attention to these things, but...
No order:
1. Play - I just like his team
2. Kru - Has stayed good without ripping off a new guy (I think)
3. House - Built up a solid team
4. Broph - Back-to-back championships
5. Andrew - He's stopped me from winning a championship (or at least getting closer) and the Pacers are always good.
DB- Broph: Obvious pick here, the most active gm in the league and won back to back championships here. This guy is awesome and a great gm in this league. He is one of the reasons why this league is still going.
Andrew: Good gm that has always put together competitive teams out in Indiana. He has won a championship and seems to be always in the thick of things come the playoffs.
Krup: Always a good gm, always an active member in the league. His teams have been very solid the past few years.
Saga: This guy is pretty underrated when it comes to being in the league. He is quietly always around and always posting. He also quietly puts together competitive teams, good gm.
Play: Another good gm in the league. He has put together a good group of players on his squad over the years, lately they have been dominating. Play is always an active gm in leagues he is in, good guy.
Kru- 1. Broph- He's won the past two titles so he deserves the nod for the past 5 years.
2. Andrew- His team has been the best over the past decade and he currently owns
3-5 Has all been kind of meh. No one really stands out in my opinon. CC would have made the list if still here.
Play- 1. Broph - Broph is a good guy even though I hate that he's big on stats lol. His team has won 2 titles in the last 5 season so he has to be #1.
2. Andrew - Pacers have put together an amazing record over the last decade.
3. Chipper - 4 50 win seasons over the last 5 years...Pretty solid. Also Chip has made some pretty good moves.
4. Iflip - I have no idea how he puts out quality teams.
5. Kru - Kru always build winning teams.
Tmacz- LMAO GTFO chip. The last 5 seasons?! I wonder why you are doing that? Maybe because these last 5 seasons are the first time you have ever been successful in UOSLR. Seriously, chip.
Anyway, top 5 GM's last 5 years:
1- Chipper. Rather not put GM's that have gotten lucky lately(AKA marty, kru, etc...)
2- Play. Good job
3- Broph. Championships speak loud
4- Trunks. His team sucks now, but they were solid
5- CC. He was good
Editor's note: Shut the fuck up. ;D
Prince- Play
Kru
Broph
Tiger
Andrew
All five in my opinion have done a good a good job, but outside of producing winning teams they've been able to manage their teams to avoid hard cap troubles or avoid a disastrous situation where they'd be losing without having a draft pick. I think they're many qualified GMs in the league by they just happened to stand out at the moment. I could be incorrect with my assessment and point out a time where something they did doesn't measure up to the standard I'm placing them in but I'm all ear for criticism.
Tiger- Broph's title win last year was impressive with the squad he had. Can't knock that at all. Back-to-back wins is also very impressive, so despite a rebuilding season now, he's done well to finally get over that hump of "so close yet so far" that haunted him previously.
Chippy's done a good job acquiring the talent on his team and it's all happened pretty recently, so props for it.
DB's Knicks are pretty hot too, again, due to recent acquisitions. I like how their team is shaping up.
Krup's managed to stay competitive for a long time, and he's got a good shot at winning it all this season. Recent consistency near the top gets him in here.
Andrew's Pacers have been on top for quite a while now, at least the last 5 seasons. Despite the team now feeling the effects of age, I have to give him credit for his recent rings too.
chipper- Broph gets the clear-cut #1 for me, he won back-to-back titles with a team that, honestly, I didn't think was going to win it those years. The first year, I kinda figured they'd come out of the East, but the 2nd year I had given them no chance.
Andrew gets on this list for me. The Pacers have been dominant the past few years, so not mentioning him would be a disservice.
Play's Spurs have been good lately, and have a good shot to win it all this season.
Saga's an underrated GM, he's a good guy and has had a decent team the past few years and doesn't get enough credit for it. Not a dominant team, but a good, active GM.
Kru- His team has been great lately, and the acquisition of Wade was a heist. Gotta have him on here.
8. Same question, but with the bottom 5 GMs this time.
J- No order
1. Prince - He's been in the league a long time without making the playoffs
2. Crazymike - Doesn't post
3. Jah - Just cause I know he's on cruise control
4. Don - Not particularly smitten by him, and I think his teams are always stagnant
5. Iflip - Because I didn't even know he was in this league and I have no idea what team he is.
DB- Don: Don is an active gm but his teams have been shaky. Early on Don showed a lot of success in this league but lately he has not had much of anything to show for. Hit the Contract year and made it out alive. Washington needs something done to help turn it around.
Crazy mike will always been known for his sporadic sense of activity. Though he did win a championship, finally, he just sat on his team for a long time and they finally did something. He needs to be more active and actually contribute to the league instead of the weird posting that has been going on lately.
Prince: He has had shaky tenures as a GM here in UOSLR, I think prince is in his second CY with a different team. He has been CY'D before and right now is on the verge of doing it again. He needs to figure some things out and learn how to put a winning squad out there.
Jah: Jah's teams lately have been pretty sub par 40 win teams. They're pretty average and never a real threat. Jah needs to set the ship right in Phoenix and put a winning squad out there. He needs to be more active and take charge, this team has been barely afloat for to long.
Shaun: At one point you thought the magic had finally found it, they were going to be a really good team. And then all of a sudden they were really terrible. What happened to all that talent on the roster? Shaun needs to set things straight in Orlando and rebuild. His team is in awful shape right now, things have no panned out. They need to start all over and work there way back up.
Kru- Too many to list. Marty, Prince, Jah, Mike, Aar, ib4, iflip. Some for different reasons than others but overall these franchises have been poor. I'd say Jah, Prince, Mike standout more than the others.
Play- 1. Prince - I'm not sure Prince knows what he is doing with his team. Horrible job since he returned.
2. IB4 - Ray is a great guy but he has no direction with his team and is satisfied with just making the contract year.
3. James - Kill ya self mate
4. Kobe - no direction at all.
5. Biggie - Biggie has one formula to build a team with. Draft a young stud and try to win with a shitload of rookie contracts. He's doing the exact same thing he did in BBS.
Tmacz- 5 - Heatflash. Seems like a pretty nice guy, but he cusses too much for his age and his GMing skills are still developing. Don't like that he posts other peoples PM's when he has no right and is usually wrong in the situation. Other then his dumb moments, he's not horrible. His team is actually developing into something solid, but he is going to have to make a move sooner or later. Can't sit on the youth bro.
4 - Marty. Severely overrated. His stretch of winning over the last 5 years have not impressed me at all. Nobody seems to remember the 15 years of ruin he brought to the Kings franchise before he started getting lucky. Sorry marty, you're not going to win anything. Spain might have won the world cup, but you won't do shizen. I don't care if it's over the last 5 seasons, he still has done nothing and is quickly back to his mediocre ways. Nice job
3 - iflip and prince. Honestly, I sometimes forget that iflip is even in this league. He rarely posts, his team is always mediocre, he doesn't listen to reasonable offers, and well that's it. Prince on the other hand, I think is having some bad luck in this league. His teams has some major talent, but they haven't been able to put it together. Blame has to be on him for being in his 2nd CY.
2 - Biggie - Sorry buddy. Oregon homies should stick together, but uhhh no way in this case. I haven't seen you be successful in a sim league that you didn't run. You have a lot to prove in the sim league world if you are looking to gain respect. I think you need to be more eager to ask for advice. Too quick to pull the trigger. Take your time! No one is rushing you to make the deal.
1 - Jah - What can I say here? Sucky, sucky, and more sucky. Some of the players on the Suns over the last 10 years I have forgotten were ever in the league because I never look at their roster, he never talks about his team, and he never makes trades. Favors is on the Suns, really? Since when? Exactly. Favors will be forgotten soon enough on the SUns. Jah needs the boot ASAP. Sorry bud
Others - James, shaun, ib4
Prince- I'll put myself on it and to be fair I haven't paid close attention to who did a good or bad job. For example, just because a team is losing, I may not consider that GM a bad GM. But if a team is in bad shape and doesn't have any of their picks and experiences regular hard cap issues, I would probably consider that person to not be a good GM.
Tiger- Mike - as he's more inactive than me.
CC - for the rage-quit.
Marty - because it's a cool story bro.
Tmacz - how did he get Al Jeff and Jared Sullinger again?
James - did you see his last Facebook status yesterday? "Enjoyed planning out my Euro trip today (Y) Prague, Berlin, Paris, Budapest, Amsterdam, Florence, Liverpool etc." ... LIVERPOOL?! WTF?! YOU FUCK!
Editor's note: Tiger, Liverpool fucking kicks the shit out of you.
chipper- Mike- Was actually fired for not doing anything and somehow saved himself.
Prince- TONY MITCHELL! Actually, I shouldn't mention this, as this was GREAT for me. Thanks again Prince!
Jah- Never seems to be doing anything. Ever.
CC- Rage quit was very confusing, otherwise he might have cracked my top 5 GM list.
And, amazingly- DBW. What the hell bro? These last 5 years have been TERRIBLE for the Lakers. Really not getting his direction at times. This is not a DBW-like moment here.
9. Is there anyone in this league who should be fired? Explain who and why. You can name as many or as few people as you want, as long as you have explanations.
J- Crazymike. I don't dislike the guy but he really doesn't add anything to the league. Aside from pictures of half-naked women. In fact, I believe those are 90% of his posts. Literally.
But honestly, I only really care about my team.
DB- Personally Crazy mike should have been let go. I like the guy and all but he does not contribute enough to the league. He posts are getting ridiculous now that people have called him out on his participation. He has never been hat active and only comes around when you question his activity or he is not in the league. I don't know, I think we should of moved on when they fired him.
Kru- I don't think anyone in the league should currently be fired. I think the new guys should all be closely monitored and the abysmal franchises of Utah and Detroit need to have very very proactive GMs to turn them around. I'd love to see Spence take over one of those franchises and do a Bill Parcells.
Play- Bronson is the only guy I would consider firing right now. He doesn't try to interact with anyone and his activity sucks. But I guess we can always use one GM with shit activity.
Tmacz- Marty - Who doesn't want him fired
Jah - Does nothing good for the league
Prince- Probably me, hard to say why at this point I guess I just wanted to randomly list myself as someone who should be fired. Seriously though, I'm not in a position to fire anyone and even if I would be, I probably wouldn't fire anyone unless they would potentially hurt their team in the future.
Editor's note: So you're saying we should fire you? Am I reading this correctly?
Tiger- Mike. Too many inactive periods imo and hasn't contributed that much to the league imo.
chipper- Mike should have been canned. I'm still confused as to why he wasn't. Nothing against him personally or anything, nice guy and all. Just was inactive as fuck. Only posted in off-topic, sat on his team for years and won a title when everyone else was rebuilding.
10. Throughout UOSLR, we've been lucky to have two great simmers in ashes and ducky. Who do you think you would rather have running UOSLR?
J- Whomever is the least busy one. I don't have a preference whatsoever. Sims come when they do.
DB- Both have been great commishs. I don't mind either but if I had to pick 1 I think it would be ashes. You know when he will sim, ducky is random and usually really late at night. Both are consistent though.
Kru- I prefer Ashes due to sim times. I said it before Ducky even took over that the sim times would be irregular and would effect some people. Overall I think Ashes is more stern and a better commissioner and rule enforcer. Ducky went whatever way the wind blew. I love Ducky though.
Play- WTF! I can't answer that. I love both of them equally.
Tmacz- Asking me to decide between the greater of two evils? Ugh
Alright, I'll break it down for one.
Ducky:
Good guy most the time. He gets taken advantage way too much. Play, kru, marty, even freakin Chip could have their way with Ducky if they wanted. ACtually I take that chip statement back. I like how much he sims, but not when he sims. I don't mind as much as other people in the league since we are the same time zones, but it does suck at times. Needs to learn how to lay down the law. The worst thing about ducky is that he cheats. Major cheater. I mean, seriously. He resims over and over until I get an injury in the playoffs. Who has the most injuries come playoff time every year? Yeah, that's right ME! Ashes is bad, but at least he doesn't re-sim to hurt my chances.
Ashes:
Thinks he's all that when he is obviously not. Takes his authority way too seriously. I mean, who reads some of those long responses he has to something he dislikes? Not me. I love especially when he gets into arguments with GM's he locks the thread and takes shots at that guy so everyone else can read, but that guy can't respond. Dirty! He's the opposite of letting people take advantage of him. The problem with ashes is that I think he doesn't think before making a big decision. I have some examples, but too lazy to find them. Anyway, ashes tried to ruin my team with the HC situation with the sonics, but he has apologized and I forgive him for that. Good man ashes
Prince- I really don't care which one sims, perhaps they should switch up every other season, or have someone run the off-season and someone run the regular season? To me it makes no difference and I find it absurd at this point to say someone is that much better than someone else at simming a simulation game.
Tiger- Ducky rocks. Ashes rules. I'm happy with either when they have time. Ashes got busy, so Duck took over... Duck got busy so Ashes took over... when either is busy, they suck, but good commishes have to have the time to sim etc. When either one has the time though, they both rock. Right now Duck's busy so I'm happy with Ashes.
chipper- They're both awesome, but I'd have to pick ashes. Nothing against ducky at all, he's my boy and all, but ashes was the simmer from day 1 and always does a great job simming. But they're both awesome.
11. Is there anything about the league that you'd change?
J- I want to see more originality out of the draft classes. Maybe an influx of bigs to balance out the mid-level bigs. Aside from the elite players, it seems most are specialists. Don't know if we have just average big men hanging around (like Josh Powell). I could be wrong. And a C in the top 5 of scoring wouldn't hurt. And Ashes, use my draft idea. defensive first pick FTW. But I'm nitpicky, I'm really happy with the league.
DB- At the moment, nothing at all. I like how the league is running right now and everything seems to be going nicely for us here.
Kru- I think the league is really great right now. I'm not sure there is anything I'd change. Holy shit I have nothing to bitch about the world must be freezing over. The draft is looking great, activity and article rewards are great, and sim times and durations are great.
Play- League is strong as fuck right now. GREAT activity, GREAT articles and GREAT General Managers who try to win. I love UOSLR. My favorite league currently.
Tmacz- I'd make a few GM changes TBH. I also don't like the system we have in place to get +5 on 500 posts. Ridiculous IMO. Spam, spam, and more spam. Articles are where I think you should get almost all your points.
Also, I think we should vote for GMOTY every year and the winner gets like a +3 or something. Give GM's some incentives.
Prince- Well what is there to change? I know people have complained about the posting or activity, maybe we need another 10000 posts for a +2 upgrade. Bottom line, I wouldn't change much. I haven't done a lot of complaining here so I can't see why I would ask for anything to be changed.
Tiger- IT back to the way it used to be. It wasn't broke so shouldn't have been fixed imo. The rest of the league is fine as is.
chipper- I'd bump the salary cap up 2 million, though it's OK if it stays where it's at. Also, I'd do the thing Tmacz suggested with GMOTY. Otherwise, the league is ROCKING right now.
12. What is your opinion on activity right now in the league?
J- It seems to be doing well. I never used to get 100 posts in a season, I think I'm over 750 for the last two. It's exciting, and the incentive really gets the active guys to post more. Even if the topics are random. The spamming hasn't been as rampant as I thought it would be.
DB- Activity is great. Few guys could step up but there is a lot of off topic things happening which is always good for league activity. The regular season thread is always buzzing. Things are good activity wise around here.
Kru- League activity is pretty solid right now and the general population of the league is very active. We really have little to no dead weight in the league. The inactive guys are actually pretty active.
Play- I love it. No complaints.
Tmacz- It's is solid. Could be better. Like I said, there are still a few GM's that don't post nearly enough to warrant staying in the league. I've mentioned before who they are. But hey, I'm not the commish. Not a great question TBH chipper. What's my opinion on the activity? Seriously? That's all you could come up with? Weak. Also don't delete this. Thank you
Editor's note: Fuck off. It's a valid question.
Prince- Well everyone is going to have their own opinion but I think it's OK, it can for sure be better.
Tiger- Generally it's pretty good, as always. There's some dead weight around, and I know I haven't been as active as I'd like to be, but given my current circumstances I can't do much more. Hopefully soon enough though I'll be able to be back to my usual self.
chipper- Activity is fantastic right now, really, it's as good as it has been in awhile. The league is fucking cruising right now.
13. What player would you rather have going forward right now: Harrison Barnes or Perry Jones? Explain why.
J- Perry Jones, because if need be he could see time at PF. Not exactly an easy position to fill in this league.
At the same time Barnes has only been in the league less than 2 seasons and is already filthy. And he's on a rookie contract. I'm changing my mind and going with Barnes.
DB- Perry Jones. Young. Signed long term. Absolute beast. Would I still do my trade i did in the offseason? Of course, made me so much better. But the kid can play. I loved having him.
Kru- I'd rather have Perry Jones just due to size. He can play the 3,4,5 and possibly even the 2 while Barnes is limited to the 2/3. Both are extremely amazing players and you really couldn't go wrong with either or.
Play- Tough call. Barnes has only been through 2 TC's..Jones has been through 5 so far. I'll take Perry going forward though. He has a chance to be a top 5 player of all time in UOSLR. There's a player in the league that could be better than both though.
Tmacz- Perry Jones. The only reason I pick Perry Jones is because he is secured on a max contract. Barnes on the other hand will be expiring pretty soon, and I rather go with a guy that I know is secured who is the 2nd best player in the league rather then a question mark(FA) who plays on a poopy team. Barnes is sick, dirty, and nasty, but you can't pass on Perry.
Prince- I'm not sure why the comparison is being made between just those two players but it would depend on the team. If the team wants to be competitive and is in a win now mode, I'd prefer Perry Jones. But if the team was in a rebuilding stage, I'd prefer Harrison Barnes.
Tiger- Jones. Only one year older, but already the best player in the league imo, and he's also locked up long term. Barnes is on his Rookie contract, which may be sick because of his talent already, but will be a scare when he's a flight risk.
chipper- Perry Motherfucking Jones. No contest. Probably because I see what he does night-in-and-night-out, but still, he's amazing. Only a year older, has SO much talent, and he HASN'T FREAKING BEEN RCED OR ARTICLED. Think about that for a minute. THINK ABOUT IT.
14. If you could swap teams with any team in the league right now, who would it be, and why?
J- Off the top of my head, the Pistons. Why? Barnes, Gaddy, Bridgewater, and probably a top 3 pick this season. DETROIT STAND UP!
DB- I would keep the Knicks, I love my team right now and would not trade it for jack shit. I think there is a great competition in the east and I am happy to be in the middle of it. It is going to be a lot of fun. The knicks are my team I need them to do well here. I need to make them relevant.
Kru- I'd love to swap teams with the Knicks or Sonics because I'd actually deliver a ring to their franchise instead of them losing to me in the playoffs. Zing! Thats right I said it!
Play- Pistons. I love their young talent
Tmacz- Warriors. Drummond, Batum and Cook? That is a great young trio to build around IMO. Not to mention that Batum is on a great contract and they should have enough cap space to max a star player this FA. If they can sign a big name come Free Agency I think they should be a take to be reckoned with in the future, maybe even the near future. Also with aar in control, you know they will make a great deal sooner or later to take them over the hump.
Prince- Maybe the Hawks, I'd prefer the rebuilding route they are currently in and have some nice young talent to go with future picks in 3-4 seasons.
Tiger- Eh... maybe the Sonics because of Jones? I dunno... not really too attracted to any particular team really.
chipper- I love my team, but if I had to choose, I'd probably choose the Knicks. But that's basically because I swapped teams with him already this past offseason. ;D
Two other teams I'd swap with: The Warriors, they have a nice young corps there. The Hawks- Love what J is doing with that team, and now they have TONY MITCHELL. He's going to be a stud, I hope.
15. Who is your go-to guy on asking advice on trades, if you have one? It's alright to admit if you do have one, honestly.
J- Play. I don't think that's a secret. He helped me build that UOSL2 monster team (along with landing the #1 pick twice) and I know he knows what he's talking about. I also use him to gauge league reaction. I bombard him with random trade offers I conjure up and see what sticks. Don't get it twisted, my teams are definitely a reflection of my vision.
DB- Never really ask people for advice. I do my own trades without help. I know what I want and what needs to be done. If people don't see what I see, oh well. If I fail, its all on me and no one else. Back to the drawing board.
Kru- I've always had a go to guy but I really haven't relied on anyone here for advice nor has anyone relied on me either. Its kind of weird. Im an island, a lone wolf. Where is my wolf pack? Shit!
Play- Broph and Jah give me good advice.
Tmacz- Broph. Oregon homeboy. Nobody else TBH. Broph is a reasonable guy. I trust him more then any else in the league, that's probable the reason I do ask him for advice. Also the fact that he's won 2 championships. Funny thing is that I have been in sims much longer then him, but he seems pretty knowledgeable about FBB stuff.
Prince- The last trade I made with Stevenson, plenty of people have said, get Stevenson and I did. But previous trades that I've made, acquiring Williams, Ford, etc. I've never really had a go to person and I never really asked a second opinion on trades. Perhaps I should in the future, I'm not sure. I just feel people have lives and I really don't want to bother GMs about other people's teams.
Tiger- Never asked anyone about advice on trades to be honest... don't know if that's a bad thing or a good thing or what, just never done it as far as I can remember.
chipper- Broph. Always ask him when I do ask. He's got a good knowledge of the league and has good advice. However, he was "meh" on the Perry Jones deal, so I went to play. I might have to switch to play full-time after that one.
16. Give me your ideal starting 5 with current players in the league. You can give settings also if you want.
J- C - Dwight Howard
F - Perry Jones
F - Rudy Gay
G - Harrison Barnes
G - Tyreke Evans
Pace - You're
Trap - Probably
Press - Gonna
Focus - Lose
DB- Howard
Favors
Jones
Durant
Evans
Team would light shit upppp.
C- Fab Melo
PF- Greg Monroe
SF- Perry Jones
SG- Harrison Barnes
PG- Tony Parker
Uptempo
Balanced
Always
Always
Play- Next time you ask this question...Make a cap of __Million.
C Brook Lopez
PF Ekpe Udoh
SF Rudy Gay
SG Harrison Barnes
PG Ray McCullum
Tmacz- PG:Tyreke Evans
SG:Kevin Durant
SF:Rudy Gay
PF:Perry Jones
C:Darko Milicic
Pace: Very Fast
Trap: Always
Focus: Outside
Press: Always
Prince- Tony Parker
Rudy Gay
Perry Jones
Lebron James
Dwight Howard
Just based on pure talent alone, I don't think this type of team can lose. Balanced scoring, good defense and call all be effective off the ball. They'll probably have trouble up front but in a fast setting, it can probably be disruptive to have that type of starting five.
Tiger- C: Dwight Howard - people trashed him for underachieving but he leads the league in BPG and RPG right now, while scoring just under 20ppg. Perfect big man imo.
PF: Perry Jones - beast scoring machine as top option, arguably the best player in the league... gotta have him in. At 6'11'' he can handle the 4, and I can't see a clear standout PF so I'd be happy playing him there.
SF: Rudy Gay - pretty much as good as Jones... crazy scorer, and decent on D too. Would be a fantastic offensive pairing with Jones.
SG: Dwyane Wade - considered Barnes but Wade's defense gets him the nod. This backcourt will be sick on D as well as on offense.
PG: LeBron James - always wanted to play him at the point. I believe he'd put up monstrous numbers at PG for sure.
chipper- C: Dwight Howard- Dude is amazing, seriously. But just make sure he's not an option, otherwise he could struggle. But defensively and rebounding wise, he fits in perfectly here.
PF: Perry Jones- Cheating a little putting him here since he is an SF, but he's got the height and the skills to play here for sure.
SF: Rudy Gay- Would be amazing next to Perry, seriously. Scoring would be off the chain.
SG: Dwyane Wade- Again, you can't have this team without Wade. He's got all the skills needed here.
PG: Tyreke Evans- Tyreke's my boy. Plus, he fits in perfectly with what I want to try here.
Options:
1. Perry Jones
2. Rudy Gay
3. Dwyane Wade
Focus: Outside
Pace: Very Fast
Trap: Normal
Press: Always
That team would be DANK.
Thanks to everyone that replied. If for some reason I missed your PM, I'll go back in and edit it.

That team would be DANK.
