Preseason MVP - Rudy Gay
Preseason ROY - Rasheed Sulaimon
Preseason DPOY - Josh Smith
1st Team All Preseason
C - Alex Oriakhi (25.8ppg, 13.2rpg, 2.4bpg)
F - Perry Jones (33.4ppg, 7.5rpg, 4.3apg, 1.3spg, 46.8 FG%)
F - Rudy Gay (32.5ppg, 8.4rpg, 4.3apg, 1.5spg, 52.8 FG%, 93.9 FT%, 52.2 3PT%)
G - Harrison Barnes (27.4ppg, 8.2rpg, 47.0 FG%, 46.2 3PT%)
G - John Wall (25.8ppg, 6.7rpg, 9.2apg, 2.4spg)
Oriakhi changes teams and goes all league best on us. Maybe things weren't so "jazzy" in Utah. No surprises from the Jones, Gay, Barnes crew that might be here for a while. Crazy that two of those guys are on the same team. John Wall takes advantage of the weak PG play league wide and does work. Crazy what happens when all the starting PGs in the league are actually PGs. Only in Preseason.
2nd Team All Preseason
C - Jonas Valanciunas (24.3ppg, 12.6rpg, 3.8apg, 1.8spg, 48.4 FG%)
F - Kevin Durant (30.9ppg, 8.9rpg, 2.6apg, 48.6 FG%, 96.1 FT%, 45.5 3PT%)
F - Xavier Henry (31.1ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.6spg, 47.4 FG%)
G - Dwyane Wade - (28.0ppg, 6.0rpg, 4.0apg, 2.0spg)
G - Deron Williams - (26ppg, 4.5rpg, 7.8apg, 1.8spg)
Deron and Dwyane make up the only veteran back-court on the All League teams. Nothing new from these two. Xavier and Durant make up the last of the 30 point scorers in this list. One wonders if they can both carry this into the season. The small forward position in the league at current is utterly ridiculous. Jonas shows off a little, before he becomes the next Oriakhi and goes to a new team. Word is he likes the "A".
3rd Team All Preseason
C - Dwight Howard (21.5ppg, 13.5rpg, 2.8bpg)
F - Amare Stoudemire (23.3ppg, 13.8rpg, 2.7apg, 1.6bpg, 47.9 FG%)
F - Chris Bosh (23.7ppg, 10.7rpg, 2.3apg, 1.3bpg, 51.5 FG%)
G - Nicolas Batum (25.9ppg, 5.4rpg, 2.4apg, 2.5spg)
G - Tyreke Evans (21.2ppg, 6.0rpg, 5.3apg, 1.8spg, 49.5FG%, 92.9FT%, 49.2% 3PT)
The 3rd team is where all the power forwards live. Bosh and Amare are putting on for their position, Amare is arguably the best at his position. Dwight is actually a surprise to not be on one of the top two teams. Batum sneaks on the list with solid play. Scary thing about Evans is, he wasn't even playing his best position.
1st Team All Defense
C - Yao Ming (3.8bpg, 0.8spg)
F - Roy Hibbert (3.9bpg, 0.6spg)
F - Josh Smith (3.7bpg, 1.6spg)
G - Tony Parker (2.7spg, 0.5bpg)
G - Chris Paul (3.1spg, 0.1bpg)
Not much to say here. Josh Smith blew everyone out of the water statistically. Roy Hibbert comes as a surprise, at least to me. Tony Parker's 0.5bpg is more than Chris Paul, LeBron James, Batum, and Duhon combined. Ha.
2nd Team All Defense
C - Nene Hilario (3.3bpg, 1.4spg)
F - CJ Leslie (3.2bpg, 1.0spg)
F - LeBron James (3.3bpg, 0.1spg)
G - Nicolas Batum (2.5spg, 0.1bpg)
G - Chris Duhon (3.0spg, 0.1bpg)
Nene is actually good enough to make the 1st team if it were not for Yao. Leslie is the lowest graded player on the list. Duhon, James, and Batum make it off of their steal numbers.
1st Team All Rookie
C/F - Khem Birch (10.9.ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.1apg, 45.8 FG%, 23.1mpg)
F - Julius Randle (10.0ppg, 7.8rpg, 3.7apg, 42.4 FG%, 30.9mpg)
F - Kuran Iverson (10.5ppg, 6.7rpg, 2.3apg, 1.6spg, 46.0 FG%, 31.7mpg)
G - Rasheed Sulaimon (16.6ppg, 4.0rpg, 6.4apg, 4.5topg 46.4 FG%, 40.0 3PT%, 29.8mpg)
G - Austin Charles Patch (14.7ppg, 2.3rpg, 4.5apg, 1.8spg, 34.5mpg)
Birch, Randle, and Iverson all make this team easily putting up very similar stats. Randle displayed his ability to move the ball and Iverson showed he has some skill defensively. What makes Birch more impressive is that he managed to put up those numbers playing a quarter less than the others. Definitely a guy you'll have to watch next season. The backcourt features the two best performing rooks. Patch does good showing he was worth the leap of faith trade and puts up extremely solid numbers. If he ever learns how to be a PG, he'll be a Payton-like beast. Suliamon looks like the early favorite for ROY with his impressive numbers. He also has another impressive number, 4.5 turnovers per game. He should stop texting Louis Williams and Brandon Knight for ball handling tips.
2nd Team All Rookie
C/F - Kaleb Tarczewski (8.7ppg, 8.9rpg, 1.4apg, 45.9 FG%, 100 FT%)
F - Ricardo Ledo (2.4ppg, 1.4rpg, 0.4apg, 58.3 FG%, 10.0mpg)
F - Shabazz Muhammad (7.2ppg, 3.2rpg, 1.9apg, 50.0 FG%, 20.7mpg)
G - Ryan Arciadiacano (8.4ppg, 2.8rpg, 1.4apg, 50.0 FG%, 15.6mpg)
G - Omar Calhoun (5.4ppg, 1.3rpg, 2.4apg, 52.7 FG%, 40.0 3PT%, 11.1mpg)
Had to really reach for players to fill out this team. Calhoun, Muhammed, and Arciadiacano are the only ones that would've made it off their play alone. Ledo made it simply because they played. While I have the platform, look at my guy R-Cano. 8.4ppg in only under 16mpg. I'm sensing an offensive weapon in my future. And yes his name is R-Cano, I can't be expect to spell out his full name.
EDIT: Missed Tarczewski the first time, added him. 100% from the line. I wonder if he just shot 1.
