State of the Franchise - Chicago Bulls
Here is as an overview of the Chicago Bulls. There place in UOSLR History and how their current roster and Gm situation measures up.
Current GM – Tigertecz - 16 of 23 years with 41 wins or playoffs.
Former GMs – Ibe4Ray, Theshypester, coono
5 Championships in 6 Finals appearances over 27 UOSLR Seasons
Regular Season W-L Record - 1165-1049 = 43 wins per season
Playoff W-L Record – 145-108 in 18 appearances
FBB Win Rating – 34
Summary…
Overall no other team has had the type of success that Tigertecz and his Bulls have had. The 5 championships are amazing. To win 5 titles over 50 years is astounding, to do that in 27 years overall is epic. Also remember that they won 4 of those 5 over a 7 year stretch. For those 7 years Etienne Preira and the Bulls were the team to beat.
Recently things have simmered down a bit in Chicago. They have not reached 50 wins in the last 5 years and are about 50 games under 500 over the last 4 seasons. They do have 2 pretty promising youngsters in J-Mychal Reese and Alex Oriakhi though so their future looks decent.
Here is a look at their current roster…
377 Alex Oriakhi C 27 6'9'' 240 B+ D+ D A- A D
480 Tanveer Bhullar C 22 7'2'' 320 C D F+ B- A- B
620 Ian Theissen C 21 7'0'' 250 B- C D B- A- A
454 David Harrison C 34 7'0'' 250 C+ D C- A- B D
568 Dajuan Coleman PF 23 6'9'' 280 B C- D+ C+ B- C
635 Isaiah Austin PF 23 7'2'' 220 C C+ C B+ B- B
649 Amir Williams PF 24 6'10'' 210 B- C D+ B- C+ B
475 Pape Amadou SF 24 6'8'' 225 B- C C A- B- B
361 Colin Hartman SF 22 6'7'' 210 C+ B- C B- C+ B
238 Jeremy Hollowell SF 23 6'6'' 225 B- C D+ B- B- C
364 Marcus Smart SF 23 6'5'' 210 B- C D+ B C+ C
547 Jordan McRae SG 25 6'5'' 185 C+ A- C A- C- C
284 Alec Burks SG 26 6'6'' 195 B- A- C- A- C- C
144 J-Mychal Reese PG 23 6'3'' 190 C+ A- A- A- C B
198 Darryl Baker PG 22 6'3'' 195 C B- B- C D+ C
Like I mentioned before the Bulls do have some young talent but it seems as though J-Mychal Reese needs a faster pace and perhaps outside offense to better show his talents. His turnover issues may mean a slower more balanced offense is a better fit, but with those ratings he really needs to be a 20 point 10 dime type guy. Alex Oriakhi is a great defender and rebounder who still has some upside. His shot blocking abilities are elite, but his offense is horrendous. 39% from the field and 58% from the line mean the ball shouldn’t be in his hands too much. Ian Thiessen is probably the wild card. If he can continue to develop and become a post scorer it would give the Bulls a nice 1-2 punch with Reese and allow them to play a more balanced offense.
For the immediate future it seems things will be pretty mellow in Chicago until they make a big trade or Reese explodes onto the scene as a top tier talent. Tigertecz has shown he does know what it takes to take his team to the next level, but at this point the talent level just isn’t there to make that kind of move. If everything falls right they could compete for 50 wins and the playoffs, but they need to add talent to be a title contender.
