State of the Franchise – Orlando Magic
Here is as an overview of the Orlando Magic. There place in UOSLR History and how their current roster and Gm situation measures up.
Current GM – Shaunkol – 14 of 27 years with 41 wins or playoffs.
Former GMs – None.
1 Championship in 2 Finals appearances over 27 UOSLR Seasons
Regular Season Record - 1088-1126 = 40 wins per season
Playoff W-L Record – 71-74 in 13 Appearances
FBB Win Rating – 37
Summary…
Shaunkol has had marginal success in UOSLR. He has 1 title and has managed to avoid the Contract Year. 14 years of 41 wins or more isn’t impressive and he’s lost more then he’s won. This year is his real test. Can he win 41 or get into the playoffs? Time will tell. If not UOSLR will need to finally name a new Magic GM.
Here is a look at their current roster…
526 Tyson Chandler C 34 7'1'' 236 B- C C A B+ C
440 David Lee C 34 6'9'' 255 B+ C C- C A- C
602 DeMarcus Cousins C 26 7'0'' 290 B- D+ D+ B- A- C
56 Cheikh Samb C 32 7'1'' 220 C C- D- B+ C+ D
541 Josh Smith PF 31 6'10'' 226 B+ C C A- A- B
286 Ed Davis PF 28 6'9'' 225 B D D+ A- B- D
585 Rosco Allen PF 23 6'9'' 215 B- C- C- B- C C
299 Meyers Leonard SF 26 6'10'' 240 B- C C+ A- B- C
577 Julian Wright SF 30 6'8'' 225 B+ C+ C A- C C
432 DeShawn Stevenson SG 35 6'6'' 217 C+ A+ A A- C D
538 Acie Law PG 32 6'3'' 199 C B+ B+ B+ C D
315 Malcolm Lee PG 27 6'5'' 190 C+ B A- B+ C- D
The Magic have a solid roster, but they don’t have a star. DeShawn Stevenson is still good, but his career is setting. David Lee is a good scorer, but his defense is ugly. Tyson Chandler is pretty much the anti David Lee. He can play defense, but his offense is almost non-existent. Josh Smith is a defensive wizard, but as a 3rd offensive option he is less then ideal.
The Magic will probably make their Contract Year, but their roster is old and they don’t have much around for the future. If Shaunkol makes it this year, he’ll need to move out his aging players and try and reload with younger players soon.
